  • "Absolutely gorgeous property with all the creature comforts you could think of, including things like foil and sandwich bags and cupboard essentials."

The owner was very friendly (even though we arrived early) and welcoming. We would happily stay here again and so would our cat!

  • "Ivybank is a beautiful traditional country cottage."

The owners had decorated the cottage for Christmas which was a lovely touch. They had also left us some lovely goodies. They contacted us before we arrived and during our stay to see if we needed any help. The house was warm when we arrived and there was a basket of logs for the log burner. It was a fabulous cottage and we had the best time. We would definitely recommend Ivybank and we will definitely return.

Thankyou for your lovely feedback! We hope to have you stay again! Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely week here with 4 teenagers."

The cottage is comfortable and cosy with enough space for you all to relax in the evenings. A perfect base to visit plenty of things in the area. We visited Culzean Castle in Ayr, Grey Mares Tail waterfall near Moffat, Ullswater in the Lake District as well as a few things closer to the cottage. We had a slight issue with the boiler one morning but the owners had someone out to fix it within a couple of hours and were very helpful. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I were to return to the area.

  • "Fabulous time had by the whole party who ranged in age from 19 to 50."

By far the best equipped cottage I've ever stayed in. Owners contacted me on arrival by text to ensure we had arrived safely and all was to our expectation and offered any help or assistance. Would definitely recommend!

  • "Do not think deep clean was carried out."

Food left in fridge and freezer, medicines left in a bottom drawer in the kitchen. Should mention the busy road it is on. Nice property, but snug badly smelling of dogs and damp, unusable for us.

The quiet village of Thornhill is in the Mid Nithsdale area of Dumfries and Galloway in southern Scotland, and is an ideal place for a relaxing break.
