  • "A warm and comfortable cottage in a truly beautiful location."

We had a wonderful few days hiking, exploring and visiting a few local attractions for a winter getaway. The house was perfect for the two of us for a week, with everything we could need. The fire and quality TV in the lounge made evenings comfortable, and the well equipped kitchen made breakfasts and dinners easy work. The porch at the back was useful for outdoor clothing and parking was effortless right beside the cottage. The views are just brilliant and we loved walking from the front door through the beautiful quiet village and out into the surrounding countryside. The Wanlockhead Inn is very welcoming and the Leadhills General Store a mile away very useful for quick shops too.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback Property Owner

We loved relaxing with the log burner on. Communication from the owner was excellent. The village is a great base for exploring the surrounding area and also has nice walks.

  • "A lovely cosy cottage the only criticism is the electric heaters were not easy to control and instructions confusing sometimes they stayed on other times they wouldn’t stay on ."

Also how on earth do you get live tv programs again there were no understandable institutions in the welcome pack.

Hi, glad that you found Kellocks Cottage lovely and cosy. We will review the instructions for the heating and TV to prevent reoccurrence for future guests. Thank you for your feedback Property Owner

  • "The cottage was a little gem - very well equipped and appointed."

The surrounding area is absolutely lovely with good dog walks on the door step although you do have to keep your little darlings on a lead particularly if they enjoy chasing as there are lots of free roaming sheep and rabbits on the doorstep, which makes the small secure courtyard ideal. Make sure you are well packed with provisions and everything you need as the nearest shop and food outlet is in sanquar which is a bit of a drive if you run out of essentials.

The cottage was comfortable, well equipped, in a great location & everything we needed. We really enjoyed gold panning & visiting the mine, the guides are great. The pub is friendly. We also visited nearby Sanquhar via the stunning Mennocks pass, Moffatt, Drumlanrig Castle which was great for or daughter & us. A fantastic relaxing week. Thanks

  • "This is a fantastic cottage."

Located in a wonderful village with sheep and rabbits running everywhere. Really good local pub just down the road with welcoming locals. We’ll equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a cosy living area. Fast WiFi, good mobile signal and great tv reception. We had a great time and hope to be back in the near future.

  • "The cottage is listed as being pet friendly, however I do feel a warning about the free range sheep in the village & the multitude of rabbits should be mentioned in the details."

We didn’t take our dog on this occasion and any dog with a high chase drive would go berserk when stepping out of the front door to see sheep within a few feet. One of the visitors in the guest book also mentioned it & I do think this should be made clear on your website.

Thank you for your feedback. We have 2 well behaved dogs and use the back entrance where the secure outdoor space is available. Many of the traditional cottages in the village do not have enclosed gardens and people have their dogs on leads when in the village. We will update the information on the cottage description.Kind regards Property Owner
