"Plenty of space for two people."
And lovely big comfortable bed. An ideal location for touring this area. Wigtown has a small coop and many bookshops. We would recommend Hillcrest
-
"Really quiet and comfortable apartment."
Everything we needed was to hand.

"On arrival Andy, Nic and Sky gave us a warm welcome, Andy showed us round the very spacious apartment pointing out various things to aid our stay."
The apartment has everything we needed, a well equipped kitchen with table and chairs close by making the prep and eating of meals very easy and handy. There was comfortable seating in the lounge with a huge tv on the wall, all very pleasant. The bedroom, again very spacious was great, a huge bed, crisp white linen, loads of storage and another huge tv on the wall. The bathroom was excellent, the slight step in the floor could cause problems during the night if you forgot it was there and stubbed your toe but I placed the toilet roll holder nearby to remind us it was there, so no stubbed toes for us!

"Had such a wonderful stay at Hillcrest."
The apartment was perfect for us and our dog, the area is beautiful and there are plenty of things to do. I'd recommend Castle Kennedy, Mossyard Beach, Galloway House as activities. I'd also recommend walking from the house down the harbour and then into Wigtown to visit the shops. Nic was so welcoming and we found we had everything we needed, the inclusion of a freezer was really helpful and the shower/bath are amazing. If you find you get warm at night, bring an electric fan for the bedroom as it can get toasty, but the bed is so huge and comfy it wasn't a problem for us! If we're ever back up that way, then we will definitely stay here again. Cannot recommend enough!

"Andy and Nic made us feel very welcome and the accommodation is a wee gem, comfortable and well equipped, the village is lovely, ideal for a few days away from it all, a good base to explore the beautiful countryside and handy for a day trip to Belfast from Cairnryan to see the wonderful Titanic exhibition."
Definately recommended.

"We enjoyed our week in the cottage."
The accommodation was nice and felt spacious and the owners were friendly and helpful. The location was great being by the nature reserve and also just a short walk into Wigtown. It was also well placed to visit other areas of interest.
-
"A great apartment - very spacious, and furnished and equipped to a high standard."
Nic and Andy are great hosts, and the option to have meals in the Guesthouse is great too - we enjoyed two fine breakfasts
-
"We had a lovely week in Dumfries & Galloway."
The accommodation was immaculate and had everything you would wish for. We were given a very warm welcome when we arrived and some great pointers for places to eat. Overall one of the best self catering apartments we've stayed in and very dog friendly which we really appreciated.

"Helpful owners; very comfortable, well equipped and spacious accommodation for two; everything one could have wanted and all very clean and modern."
-
"We were unable to take our holiday and offered it to our niece, Stephanie and her partner Harry."
We advised Sykes who were happy with the transfer at no extra cost, while we remained responsible for the holiday. Stephanie and Harry loved it and this is what they said: Key points: - Lovely accommodation. Spacious, airy, and spotlessly clean. - Shower is amazing! Again, spacious and very clean. Lovely deep bath. - Very quiet, peaceful location less than 10mins walk from the town centre and less than 10mins walk from the waterside. - Surrounded by gorgeous countryside and walks/beaches you can reach in 20mins in the car. - Wigtown centre is very nice, unexpectedly amazing array of hand make cakes! - The owners are super helpful, very approachable and keen to share great tips for places to visit. - The owners left nice little touches for us, a bottle of wine, some disposable slippers. Lent us some sun chairs to use as well.
-
"This is one of the most comfortable places we have stayed for just the two of us and our dog."
The owners were so accommodating and welcoming. The location is ideal for touring around the most beautiful countryside and coastline. If you are coming this way then definitely stay as short walks from the property will present a beautiful vista. Thank you for one of the most relaxing and peaceful holidays we have had.

"A beautiful, comfortable and well resourced cottage."
Andy and Nic were great hosts too. Situated in a lovely spot, so peaceful, very dog friendly. Would recommend to anyone who likes the independence of a stay but having the practicality of an on site guest house to supplement in case you want breakfast or an evening meal provided. close proximity to Wigtown to stroll into town.
-
"Very spacious with a modern feel."
Enjoyed it very much.
-

"Holiday originally booked for March 2020!"
! We finally arrived this year and we were not disappointed. Accommodation was lovely, clean, spacious and everything you need to have a relaxing holiday. Friendly welcome when we arrived and thank you for our welcome treats. Location good for walks locally. Plenty of places to explore and visit including lots of forest walks. Portpatrick, Isle of Whithorn, Mull of Galloway and Port William are just a few of the places we visited. The areas and scenery are just stunning!! The Steam Packet Inn at Isle of Whithorn is well worth a visit for both a drink or food. The Bladnoch Inn which is walkable from Hillcrest House good for Sunday Carvery. All in all a good holiday and we were really lucky with the weather. Would highly recommend and hope to return one day.

"The accommodation at Hillcrest was excellent."
The huge bed was really comfortable and the lofty ceiling meant it was lovely and cool to sleep. The sumptuous bathroom was pristine and the stripped wooden floors in the living area was gorgeous. Would highly recommend.

"Fabulous holiday cottage, lovely clean & spacious, the nicest we’ve stayed in."
The garden was a lovely peaceful place to sit & enjoy the views after a day of sightseeing. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting a holiday let with lovely hosts

"A superb holiday flat and the hosts were excellent."
We will be back and will wholeheartedly recommend it to friends. They have worked hard at a very difficult time to modernise an old house and have succeeded. One of the best we have ever stayed in.
-

Bright and plenty of room. Great 50inch smart televisions. 5 minutes to town and some lovely walks close by. Immaculately clean. Highly recommend.

"We had a wonderful week."
It was quite obvious from the very beginning that Nicola and Andy's priority is the comfort and wellbeing of their guests and to that end they spare no effort. The apartment is outstanding - spacious, high ceilings, high end fittings and facilities - real luxury! One of the best places we have ever stayed.
-
"The owners of Hillcrest are good hosts."
The accommodation is good but their friendly, helpful response adds to the positive experience.
-
"We had a relaxing and comfortable week at Hillcrest."
The accommodation exceeded our expectations being very well equipped with superb furniture and fittings. The apartment was spotlessly clean on arrival with a generous welcome pack. Andy and Nic made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed the well cooked breakfasts by Andy, a bonus on a self catering holiday! The apartment is situated just a short walk to Wigtown and Wigtown harbour where a bird hide is located to view geese and other birds living on the river. The peaceful countryside and coast is nearby with many places of interest to explore.
-
"Very comfortable surroundings, well appointed kitchen area however no freezer."
made to feel very welcoming, Owners are very friendly and not intrusive . Area is very picturesque, local walks are quite easy and worthwhile.Local town, Wigton, is very peaceful and friendly.Travelled, extensively throughout the area, predominantly heading West, Portpatrick was a delight. Due to current circumstances, COVID-19 restrictions, many places were either closed or operating with restrictive hours.
Thank you for staying at Hillcrest and providing feedback on your stay. The property is not advertised as having a freezer, we're sorry if you found this unclear. Property Owner

Extremely comfortable and well equipped. Couldn’t praise it highly enough. Short walk into Wigtown and all its bookshops in which my husband did quite a bit of shopping! Beautiful area and we had marvellous weather too.

Well equipped and extremely comfortable. Stunning location. Nic & Andy are superb hosts -- very knowledgeable about Wigtown and the surrounding area. The Welcome Pack was a lovely touch. Would not hesitate to recommend to family & friends and we are already planning a return visit next year.
