The small, attractive Suffolk town of Newmarket has an interesting past and present life, enjoying world recognition as the home of horse racing. Newmarket has the largest race horse training centre and largest race horse breeding centre in the country, plus the surrounding area is home to over sixty breeding studs and over 3000 race horses, many of which you can watch being exercised on the gallops. You can discover Newmarket’s horse racing past by visiting the National Horse Racing Museum, or you may wish to explore one of the training yards for a behind the scenes tour, or you may even want to personally get close to thoroughbred stallions, mares and foals at the National Stud. Don't forget to experience the thrills of an exciting day at Newmarket racecourse, which holds 38 meetings each year, between April to October.
