  • "Fabulous cottage."

Tracy the lady who welcomed us was lovely and very helpful. Even the next door neighbour helped when I had a problem with my car! Great location with the river running at the bottom of the garden. We hope to return next year.

  • "My family (5 adults and 2 kids) had an amazing stay at Coronation Cottage."

It’s warm/cosy, spacious and very well equipped…. It felt like home away from home. From the moment we entered the drive way the house had an inviting feel about it. A lovely back garden with outdoor seating leading to the river - in the summer would make a great entertainment area. The kitchen/utility had all the mod cons we needed for our stay. Rooms and beds were clean and comfy. There was an issue with the common bathroom shower but Tracey dealt with it and quickly arranged a plumber to sort it. The cottage is located in a small quiet town/village with a few shops and tasty fish and chip shop! I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends and hope to return again some day.

The beds were so comfy too! Tracey was lovely and very helpful with knowledge about the local area. Highly recommend this lovely spacious cottage as a great base for exploring the area.

  • "Lovely cottage."

Beautiful area & we loved the garden & seating area outside. Cottage so well equipped! A visit by two swans & their cygnets made our grandchildren's day.

  • "WOW! What a cottage!"

Facilities were brilliant - everything we needed to hand (we'd started taking our own essentials after previous cottage visits). The gardens are beautiful, with the garden nice and private! Grandkids enjoyed fishing and watching boats go past. The house was staggering - VERY well fitted out with really comfy beds! Nice and quiet so had a great nights sleep! Sitting and dining areas big enough for 8 to sit together to eat and socialise. Overall, a great holiday let!

  • "It is such lovely accommodation, the pictures online are exactly what you find."

The village was lovely too, it made a great base for us to visit the North Norfolk coast. Everything you could want or need is nearby. Fishing was pretty good and being at the end of the garden an even bigger bonus. Tracey was lovely and very informative on places to visit etc. There was also a lovely welcome pack. We can't wait to return.

  • "Lovely property, well equipped, very clean, great garden by the river."

Nice walks in the local area. Tracey was very friendly. Would definitely recommend Coronation Cottage. Only criticisms - we found the pillows too big! Also 3 of the bedrooms only had a bedside table and lamp on 1 side which was a bit awkward.

  • "Beautiful, spaceous & comfortable cottage."

Very well equipped & appointed. Some surfaces & floors hadn't been cleaned to the standard we expected & there were some technical issues with certain appliances but the owner was very swift to try to rectify these, which we appreciated. Living space & bedrooms worked well for 2 familes staying together & the Americal fridge with ice & water dispenser was very popular! Thank you for the welcome goodies.

Boasting a character feel with boutique furnishings throughout, Coronation Cottage is a lovely choice for families and friends seeking a rural escape.

After parking up in the large driveway, the main door is accessed at the side of the property, leading into a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, so you won’t have to bring your whole wardrobe!

Step into the quirky and characterful kitchen, where you can sit at the centre island and keep the chef company whilst they get to grips with the range of appliances, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, American style fridge/freezer and a lovely AGA range cooker (for ornamental use only).

Spend your downtime in the sitting room, presented with two chesterfield sofas and armchairs to relax upon, along with a Smart TV so you can stay updated with your favourite shows.

The first of the bedrooms is found on the ground-floor; originally used as a sitting room, it has been lovingly converted with a super king-size bed and features a decorative fireplace and stove, perfect for those with limited mobility.

Wander upstairs to find the remaining bedrooms, including two king-size rooms, one with an en-suite shower, and a double, together sleeping up to eight guests.

There is also a bathroom with bath and shower over, so you can enjoy lazy soaks in the evening and brisk showers in the morning.

The exterior of this Upwell cottage is a real highlight, boasting an enclosed gravelled section with a covered seating area, perfect for entertaining on a balmy evening, while the beautiful rear garden offers a lawned area leading down to the river, where you can sit back and enjoy a spot of fishing, or simply switch off as you listen to the river flow by.

The property is in a great countryside location, surrounded by farming fields, rivers and impressive man-made land drains, plus natural wetlands and RSPB reserves, offering a wealth of scenic walking.

Wander into the village of Upwell to explore and marvel at the charming scenery of Well Creek, which passes through the village, or take the journey into Wisbech, home to a fabulous selection of shops and eateries, plus attractions like the Wisbech & Fenland Museum, and the National Trust Peckover House which has exhibitions and 20 acres of gardens which make for a lovely picnic spot.

About the location

UPWELL

Wisbech 6.5 miles; King's Lynn 18.9 miles

Upwell is a small and charming village resting amidst the glorious Norfolk countryside, just 18.9 miles away from King’s Lynn. The villages of Upwell and Outwell were once collectively known as 'Welle' or 'Welles' and even today, it is not obvious where one village starts and the other ends. Within this attractive waterside village, you will find a host of amenities. Until 1960s, Wisbech tramway connected the village, however, when it closed a preservation society arose, led by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry, who is known as the author of the Thomas the Tank Engine books. Today, you can discover the history of the tram, which provided much of the inspiration for the classic children’s stories by exploring the Outwell and Upwell walk. Alternatively, explore the historic town of King’s Lynn, home to a vibrant town centre and several endearing cobbled lanes, as well as the impressive Custom House, which overlooks the harbour. From Upwell, you can also visit the towns of Downham Market and Wisbech, or if you are feeling adventurous, explore the open landscapes of the Fens, as well as the Wildfowl and Wetland Centre in Welney. Upwell make a wonderful base for exploring surrounding Norfolk with your loved ones.
