  • "Fabulous modern, tastefully decorated and spacious cottage."

Plenty of information and a lovely treat of chocolate brownies left for us. There was ample supply of washing liquid etc and plentiful lovely soft bathroom towels. Bed and bedding very comfortable. Possibly a shame that there's not a freezer, but we were only staying for 5 days and found the freezer box sufficient for our needs. Shower room was great for us with the big walk in shower - our daughter has mobility issues and this was perfect for her. Again, very tastefully decorated. Very impressed with the eco- friendliness of the place, solar panels, heat pump etc. It feels like a lot of thought, time and effort has gone into making and keeping the cottage in such a beautiful condition. Some lovely walks on the doorstep and beautiful relaxing surroundings. Small town of Streatham close by with Chinese takeaway, post office, pub and shop and only 15 mins drive or a bus ride from Ely. All in all, a great stay and will definitely consider booking here again on our next trip visiting this part of the world.

This village and civil parish is some 4 miles south-west of Ely in Cambridgeshire. It boasts a few local amenities, including the Red Lion pub, a former coaching inn, now serving traditional pub food and a friendly atmosphere. The Stretham Old Engine is the main attraction in the village, a steam-powered engine used to pump water from the flood-affected Fenlands to the River Great Ouse. There are other notable buildings in the area, including Stretham Windmill, a Grade II listed building, now a private home, dating back to the 19th century. The cathedral city of Ely, with its unique Octagonal tower, is home to the only Stained Glass museum in England. For the historians of the group, you can visit Oliver Cromwell’s house or Ely Museum, housed in the city’s old gaol and even explore some of the antique shops along the main streets. The River Great Ouse offers relaxing boat trips, riverside strolls and opportunities for picnics. However, there are many local eateries to choose for a light bite, afternoon teas or a tasty dinner. Wicken Fen is a wonderful spot for wildlife watching and the Welney Wetlands Centre provides plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy.
