  • "Lovley apartment with everything you need for an enjoyable stay including a nice bottle of wine."

Tracey met us and showed us around and was available when we had a minir issue with the shower and that was sorted quickly. Comfatable and huge bed, big Tvs (x2) Powerful hot shower, plenty of space even air conditioning if needed. it is in the middle of nowhere so you do need a car.....but there are lovley lanes to walk, river views, open farmland and we saw some lovley sunsets and various wildlife (including the friendly donkeys..) . Can recommend the short trip (across the footbridge at the bottom of the road) to Ravs Fish & chip shop and further afield to Downham Market/Kings Lynn. Only real issue was the amount of fly's in the apartment but guess thats a downside of "countryside" (though they even have something to zap them) and occassional noise from the haulage yard (scaffolding was being put up when we were there..) but overall a lovley place to stay and somewhere I'd recommend.

  • "I genuinely enjoyed my stay at this lovely little barn except the fact that I could hear the walking and talking of those staying in the apartment upstairs and also the noise every time the toilet was flushed!"

  • "The accommodation was very well thought out and was lovely."

Bed was comfortable and bathroom shower was nice. We did have issues with trying to get the oven to work even with the instructions and beware of the smoke detector. We managed to set it off even if we were only doing toast. It’s seems a little over sensitive. My only other issue would have been the breakfast bar. I do prefer a proper table and chairs, but this is more personal preference.

  • "We were welcomed by Tracey and shown round which was a lovely touch."

The apartment was very clean and modern, just right for two people. Large superking bed with a modern bathroom. The area is quiet, there are no pubs /restaurants with in walking distance but there are some a short drive so not an issue. The coast is about an hours drive, Ely is 30 minutes away, both well worth visiting. It was a smashing stay, perfect for recharging your batteries.

  • "Property lovely."

Host very welcoming and left a lovely bottle of wine. Very clean and comfortable. The only thing I would think that would make it better for people staying that have mobility issues is a stool and dressing table/shelf that height in the bedroom, as beds are high and you can’t sit on them to help you dress but a dressing table stall would (beds moved if leant against). It would also be somewhere to put your makeup etc when you are doing your face and drying your hair when you can’t stand unaided. A shelf with hooks under between the mirror and window in the bedroom would be beneficial too. As nowhere to hang towel near shower (lovely walk in shower) and put the things you need. But perfect as it is, if not old like we are! Definately would stay again.

Within driving distance from cambridge, and other major cities. But the peace, and quite at the barn is amazing, there is also outside seating to be enjoyed in during the summer months. Lovely stay

About the location

UPWELL

Wisbech 6.5 miles; King's Lynn 18.9 miles

Upwell is a small and charming village resting amidst the glorious Norfolk countryside, just 18.9 miles away from King’s Lynn. The villages of Upwell and Outwell were once collectively known as 'Welle' or 'Welles' and even today, it is not obvious where one village starts and the other ends. Within this attractive waterside village, you will find a host of amenities. Until 1960s, Wisbech tramway connected the village, however, when it closed a preservation society arose, led by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry, who is known as the author of the Thomas the Tank Engine books. Today, you can discover the history of the tram, which provided much of the inspiration for the classic children’s stories by exploring the Outwell and Upwell walk. Alternatively, explore the historic town of King’s Lynn, home to a vibrant town centre and several endearing cobbled lanes, as well as the impressive Custom House, which overlooks the harbour. From Upwell, you can also visit the towns of Downham Market and Wisbech, or if you are feeling adventurous, explore the open landscapes of the Fens, as well as the Wildfowl and Wetland Centre in Welney. Upwell make a wonderful base for exploring surrounding Norfolk with your loved ones.
