  • "It was a lovely cottage, plenty to visit in the area too."

    Really enjoyed being there.

  • "A quiet and comfortable cottage with all the appliances (dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer) needed to make life easy during the stay and convenient parking off road."

Well situated for visits to Ely, Cambridge and Kings Lynn - we used the train from Littleport a few miles away which worked well and enjoyed our days out. We also liked the Wildlife and Wetlands Centre, which is just down the road. We'd have liked to walk more, but didn't really know where to go so some info on local walks would be useful. The central heating was controlled remotely by the owner and she was very good about adjusting it when we needed, but it would be nicer to be able to do that ourselves.

  • "The cottage was well equipped with all the things you would need the only thing that was missing was a good can opener"

  • "The Cottage was much nicer than the pictures show, especially inside."

Everything was good quality and clean. There was a pleasant walk by the river very close by. The highlight was the Brilliant Pub over the road with excellent food and staff, we ate there every night ( Tues night steak night is good £9.25 with all the trimmings ) Pub is very Dog friendly and you can eat in the front bar with your Dog although Sally does not mind if you leave your Dog for a short time in the kitchen area of the Cottage. We found the Cottage to be a good base for visiting the surrounding area, recommend St Ives, Ely ( Wicken Fen -south of Ely ) and Thetford Forest ( Lynford - free parking ) We found everyone to be really friendly wherever we went but having a dog always helps. We all had a lovely stay at 1 Laburnum Cottage.

  • "Think there could be more information about the badly rutted track which was entry to the cottage."

Cottage comfortable inside but let down by garden and shabby state of the outside.

  • "The cottage had everything to make staying away from home enjoyable with little extras like milk and juice in the fridge, tea and coffee etc."

Even dog bowls and bags etc just in case. The pub opposite serves the most amazing food. And location wise the cottage is a little off the beaten track, but Ely is only 20 mins drive, while the beach is around an hour away.

Lovely quiet area, along with fabulous owners.

  • "1 Laburnum Cottage, was just as previous visitors had stated in the visitors' book - clean, cosy and comfortable - the beds were superb."

How unfortunate then that the outward appearance is rather shabby. Discarded rubbish, un-clipped hedges and, what appears to be deep water un-fenced. Maybe a few more checks could be made between each letting, for example on the in-house appliances. The toaster tray needed emptying before use. The filter in the tumbler drier was packed solid with fluff - a very serious fire hazard. The dishwasher couldn't drain properly due to scale build-up in its filter, this we cleaned as best we could. The TV had not been re-tuned since the last update. Nevertheless, the holiday was an enjoyable one, the pub across the road was a good choice for meals - and certain members of staff gave an excellent service.
