• "We had a really nice stay, it was cozy and clean."

  I don’t know if it was me not realising but I wasn’t aware the hosts house was actually the same building with a door in between them. I assumed it was just next to the cottage. It wasn’t a problem, just surprising. We really liked it, the shop onsite had some nice local things in too. Based on other reviews it’s helpful to note there is a king size bed, the fairy lights do work you just have to switch them on at the wall, the hot tub is stuck at 38 but it was warm enough for us in September, the sofas and bed were perfectly comfortable. There were a few dirty pots in the cupboard like people mentioned but that’s just the fault of the people who stayed previously and only took a minute to clean, it’s unfair to blame the hosts for something like that I would say.

• "Kitchen utensils were dirty in the drawer and the baking trays needed to be binned as they were disgusting!"

  ! Despite cleaning them before use, the Teflon and bits of metal had stuck to our food so our meal was ruined on the first night. The kettle was caked in limescale. No sign of a carbon monoxide alarm. The property was cold at night, the radiators were not working. The bed was very uncomfortable and the bathroom towels had seen better days. The sofas were very uncomfortable and felt like you were sitting on the sofa base which exasperated my back problems.

• "A wonderful, modern, spacious and clean property."

  The property is very well equipped, we wanted for nothing!! The hot tub was wonderful to relax in in the evening, though we did have a couple of hiccups with it as the weather got hot. We would definitely like to come back.

• "We stayed here Monday-Friday as a mini-moon after our wedding, it was the perfect stay for us."

  The property is beautiful and was absolutely spotless when we arrived. It’s really spacious and is furnished with everything you’d need for a break away. The hot tub was the perfect temperature when we arrived so we could get straight in. The welcome book has all the information you’d need for both the cottage itself and the local area. The on-site shop does have a lot in it so we tried to use there instead of the supermarkets where possible. We enjoyed every minute of the trip, we even looked to see if booking the Friday and Saturday night was possible as we didn’t want to leave! Unfortunately it wasn’t but I’m sure we’ll be booking again soon.

  The only downside is the cleanliness. Eg. Electric hob burnt food on it. Kettle covered in splash marks. Oven door covered in grease. Tap in main bathroom had toothpaste on it. Crisps on the stairs in living room. Headboard on bed on the top covered in dust. Mattress on sofa bed needs cleaned.

• "This is a lovely property and the host so very accommodating."

  There is so much provided that isn't mentioned in the description which added to the experience, ie towelling robes and flip flops for the hot tub. I also appreciated the bath sheets provided rather than just a stingy bath towel that many properties provide. Also provided was washing up liquid etc so in reality there was everything we required for a lovely relaxing break.

  Beautiful place time care and thought have gone into it. Hosts where great helped us find the property easy and told us about the fireworks going on. Hot tub was amazing the bed was excellent. Hope to visit again one day. Would highly recommend!!!!

• "Loved this cottage."

  It was alot bigger than expected and maintained to a very high standard. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. The owners were very helpful and provided us with everything we needed during our stay. We asked for afew additional things we needed and they went out of their way to deliver as quickly as possible. Will definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking to recharge their batteries.

• "We had such an amazing stay at the lodge, everything was just so perfect for us."

  We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend and that’s exactly what we got, everything was provided for us even down to a hair dryer in the bedroom, which made it so easy for us to just completely enjoy the weekend and not have to worry about anything. We brought all our own food so didn’t get to try out the pub food but anytime we went into the site shop the pub was always thriving. The rooms were spotless and cosy, the shower was out of this world and the hot tub was just the icing on the cake. All in all we had the most perfect weekend and will definitely be coming back. Thankyou for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

• "Sherwood Lodge was a nice looking place."

  But from the start of our stay we were upset because the owners never meet us at the property and then showed us around. Instead my husband had to go and ask were the property was. The women he saw said the key safe was by the front door of the property. Usually when we get into a lodge/cottage there a least a pint of milk awaiting us. But in sherwood lodge there wasn’t anything. We both found the property clean. But not inviting at all. The furniture was Mis match and it looked unloved from the start. We spent three nights there. We both decided to cut our holiday short because the bed was very uncomfortable and the lounge furniture was also very uncomfortable. It really upset us both because we were really looking forward to our last holiday of the year. So unfortunately we wouldn’t be recommending sherwood lodge to any of our friends and family.

• "Lovely property on a lovely site."

  Really enjoyed our stay. Towels, bathrobes and flip flops provided making the hot tub even easier to use. (Set at 38c which just right for us but could be cool in winter months.) Lots of cutlery and crockery meant didn't need to wash constantly. Hosts were very welcoming and the onsite bar was great. Good selection of gin and beer produced onsite. Beautifully set with an outdoor seating area full of flowers and wildlife. Much needed couple break was really enjoyed by us and we explorers the area at our leisure.

  It was very clean and comfortable and has all the facilities you would need and expect. The private patio with hot tub is also a welcome bonus. The owners Lesley and Neil were very welcoming and friendly as were all the staff, the shop and on site pub are excellent and would definitely recommend. Neil was very informative of the fenlands providing a lot of interesting history about the area.The lodge is ideally situated for visiting local attractions. We hope to visit again next year.

• "The cottage was perfect!"

  Great size! Very clean! The site was a real treat too. There’s a pub, garden centre and even piglets! We came here as for a week holiday and we didn’t want to leave. The staff are lovely as well, they are welcoming and relaxed. Thank you so much for a lovely relaxing holiday, we will be back soon!

• "We booked a week at Sherwood lodge, on The Secret Garden site."

  This is a lovely place. We did have a few issues though, one resulting in us leaving two nights early. Firstly, the cleanliness of the lounge and in particular the kitchen when we arrived was not good. Very sticky handles on cupboards, dirty cutlery in the drawer (all random pieces) every knife in the drawer was completely blunt, the top four dinner plates in the cupboard all had puddles of water on them. The kettle needs replacing/descaling. None of the furniture matched/complimented each other, which is not what we expect for an expensive property. The cupboard in the lounge was thick with dust, and the dining table was extremely sticky. There were splashes of something sticky across the floor. We dropped a counter from a game under the sofa - it was very dirty under there. Maybe a mirror would be handy in this room and in the hall. The bathroom was beautiful and very clean, great size too. The bedroom was also a great size. The bed was extremely comfortable, it was not king size though. The hot tub was very accessible, it was lovely and hot. We were disappointed that the control of the temperature was out of our control. It’s a great size, not many jets unfortunately. Quite a few pieces of dirt came through the jets too. It’s impossible to use the hot tub when the weather is warm, due to the hot tub temp being locked to 37 degrees (far too uncomfortable unless the weather is cool) Our reason for leaving two nights early is the fact that you can’t get food delivered to the lodge. There’s no number on the door. Even though we explained multiple times, that we were staying at ‘Sherwood Lodge’ in ‘The Secret Garden’ Mile Tree Lane, PE13 4TR The delivery drivers, either got lost, went to the wrong house (also called Sherwood) which is further along the road or - after taking our money, cancelled our orders. My partner had to go chasing the driver along Mile Tree Lane to try and get our dinner. This was extremely stressful, when we just wanted to relax. We did not go away to cook every evening. We do not eat out at restaurants since covid. Overall we feel the property is priced incorrectly for the standard.

• "Everything about this cottage is truly superb!"

  It started with a warm greeting from our friendly hosts, we were then blown away by the cottage. The kitchen is well equipped with all modern appliances and has utensils, glasses, crockery and pots & pans which are more than adequate for your stay. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable and the underfloor heating in the ensuite bathroom was sublime. The hot tub is discreetly placed and more than adequate for 2 people. There is great attention to detail throughout. The hosts have added a small bar/restaurant area on the site and this was a really great place to taste locally brewed beer & spirits and enjoy some superb food and it was within staggering distance of the cottage, win win!

• "Host was fantastic and cottage was brilliant with all its' amenities."

  There was a folder which contained all Infomation needed also tourist guidance. There were board games to play and hot tub was clean. One disappointment was the cleaner had just used the toilet before we arrived and she went for a number 2; It stunk the hall way and was a terrible way to start the holiday. The property was generally well cleaned and maintained however under the table and sofa in the living room was disgusting bits which we could see, we decided not to investigate further.

  The lodge is very roomy and the kitchen had all the appliances and equipment needed for a perfect stay. The bedroom and en suite were super spacious. The hot tub was a great addition as we were lucky enough to have fantastic weather. The owners were so welcoming and more than happy to give details of the local area. We did a lot of cycling in the area where the roads were extremely quiet and we had a terrific week.

• "What a stunning lodge!"

  We had everything we needed. The bed... omg the bed! The comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. The mattress, duvet and pillows were just perfect. The entire lodge was very clean and the owners were AMAZING. Super friendly, very approachable and went above and beyond for everything. A gorgeous outdoor pub is onsite and it’s the local gins, beers and ciders. It was the first time we felt like our lives were pre- COVID times. We had such an amazing time, lots of local places to venture out to. We had our 1 years old daughter with us so we went to Hunstanton for a day at the beach, Church Farm which had petting sections and a tractor ride around the farm. One day we even had a Picnic in the gardens at kings lynn. Such a beautiful to stay. Our daughter loves running around the land and was very taken with the owners (which is a first as she was born as the first lockdown happened). The main question in reviews that I look for is “would you return?” Absolutely!!

• "Thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Sherwood Lodge, very modern, clean and well appointed cottage."

  This property has virtually everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable holiday. Very spacious dining/ living area, with lovely exposed beams and log burner, which we did not have to use as the property is so warm, thanks to the huge contemporary radiators and hive thermostat. Lovely kitchen off dining area with large American fridge freezer, with great ice maker, washing machine and dishwasher if needed as well as plenty of cooking utensils. Fantastic spacious wet room off stunning bedroom, the Mira digital shower one of the best we've used, this really is a great feature which we loved. Very comfortable king sized bed, with doors leading to outside private patio and our favourite feature, the hot tub, which is superb, one of the first things we look for now !! You are supplied with bath robes and flip flops which is such a nice touch, the robes especially a touch of luxury. The site itself is really nice, as are the owners, they have street food events on a weekend, a shop, their own distillery, which they also serve drinks on site with some lovely seated areas. Plenty of pubs to eat out near to you, would recommend the Oliver Twist and Red lion. You have all the major supermarkets near to you, takeaways and places to visit, Cambridge is a must and so is the pretty village of Ely. Our only small gripe is there is only one wardrobe, so if there are four people staying, via use of the sofa bed in living room, you have limited space for hanging clothes although there are drawers as well, We noticed an earlier review saying the fairy lights did not work around the patio, they do you just need to find the control for them, it really gives a lovely effect using the hot tub on an evening. We would definitely recommend this lovely cottage and will no doubt be back in the future.

• "Lovely bungalow, spacious, modern, everything we needed really ."

  Hot tub was lovely, log burner we used twice as it got a bit chilly. The bed was so so comfy, the touring site was well kept private and beautiful, the brewery was an added bonus, the outside covered areas to sit out in the evening on the camp site. if you wanted, the gin factory was lovely, also had there own bee hives to make there own honey. they also had street food nights which we enjoyed. lovely walks around their land so well kept. The owners were so friendly and we only had to go to camp office and little shop and ask anything. You can have a beer or a gin or a coffee, so perfect. we were so private didn't need to see anyone if we didn't want to. Covid has changed things so not alot around to do as most places were shut but we enjoyed a very relaxed holiday .definitely recommend the bungalow and if your into camping what a fabulous site to be in .

• "Beautiful accommodation."

  Aside from the mahogany furniture and floral sofa's in the living room, it's very modern and spacious. Bed was very very comfy, probably the best night's sleep I've had in a very long time! Kitchen was well equipped and the ice machine was a great addition...once we got it working! Bathroom was lovely and modern with heated flooring. Hot tub was great in a lovely little garden, just a shame the fairy lights didn't work, this would have made it even prettier! Only slight negative was the sky light in the bedroom, there was no instructions in the welcome book about how to put the blind down so we got woken up very early morning by the bright sunlight. We managed to figure it out in the end but would be handy for future visitors to have this info about both remote controls. Not too much going on around the main area of Wisbech but Hunstanton beach area was a great visit, we left the sea life brochure in the welcome pack for other visitors. We would also recommend trying the Oliver Twist for a fantastic meal!

• "Sherwood lodge was beautiful and met every expectation we had."

  We did not want for anything, everything was well catered for, from flip flops and robes to washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets. It had it all, even books and board games. It was extremely clean and modern, the bed was lovely. We even found the switch for the fairy lights by the hot tub which was an extra cute touch. We would definately come back and stay. We found a lovely litttle pub about a 2 minute drive away which served the best Sunday roast. It was called the wheel in st marys and the portions were huge. Very tasty.

• "We came here for my partners birthday and what a fantastic find this place is."

  Could fault absolutely nothing! There is nothing that needs to be changed the owners have done a very good job with this place! Looking at coming back next year as I've found out there is some great fishing spots locally, I can fish my partner can relax by the log burner or the in the hot tub. Oweners are a lovely couple always on hand with anything you might need. Highly recommended.

Under floor heating in the bathroom was wonderful as a very cold week during our stay ! Wasn’t brave enough to use hot tub as weather just a tad too cold for me but looked lovely and everything was kept very clean .

• "Myself and my partner were very honoured to be the 1st people to stay at this new and fantastic property."

  It is very hard to find a property with both a log burner and a hot tub but not only did this have both but had lots more to offer. We were very impressed with how equipped the lodge was. Staying away in similar places in the past I am used to packing essentials such as towels, robes, flip flops, tea towels, washing up liquid, dish cloths etc all of which was already there and of great quality too! Other additional extras were the built in ice machine on the (Huge) fridge and a fully equipped kitchen with EVERYTHING (including utensils) you would need including a dishwasher. I could not fault anything during our 3 night stay. The shower was lovely and hot & powerful, everything was there we needed to light the log burner, the hot tub was perfect and nice and secluded and the bed, well, this was one of the most comfiest beds I have ever stayed in (working in hotels for a living I experience a lot of different beds too!). The bed was lovely and high, comfy and the duvet and pillows were beautiful!! I very much look forward to visiting this property again and wish Lesley & Neil all the best on their new venture. A fantastic property owned and looked after by a lovely couple. Thanks again for everything xx
