  • "We spent an enjoyable week at skylark cottage."

It was very comfortable and well appointed. It is a good location for exploring north Cornwall, it deserves the five star reviews it receives and wouldn’t hesitate recommending a stay here.

Set in tranquil rural surroundings yet within half an hour of Polzeath, Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle, the location is ideal for those wanting access to the South West Coast Path - and only a few country miles from Rough Tor and Brown Willy on Bodmin Moor too. The accommodation is very spacious and well furnished and very well equipped, absolutely outstanding!

This could be problematical for some drivers, and the distance from the property to camel-ford was not conducive to walking for a meal or drink unless you were ardent walkers.

Property was gorgeous - bright and airy, beautifully decorated, very spacious and modern, spotlessly clean and well-equipped. The setting is very tranquil which we loved. Don't be put off by the private road access - it's well-maintained and we didn't have any problems, although it is single track in places. Lack of wifi was not an issue for us - 4G signal worked well enough for email, text and voice calls. Loved the garden ... shame the weather didn't afford us more opportunities to sit out in it but so pretty and peaceful. All in all, we had a wonderful week, just what we were hoping for, and would love to return, and we can absolutely recommend this property to others. Jimmy and his daughter and grand-daughters are charming, very 'low key' but there if needed. Huge thanks to Jimmy, and hope to see him again.

Ideal for two. It is quiet and peaceful and have exactly what you need for a relaxing stay. The facilities are as you would wish. There is no Wi-fi but, for us, being “off grid” was a bonus although 3G/4G was available if desperate. There have been comments about the lane from Camelford to the property but we have an SUV and did not find it a problem at all and it is a tarmac surface with passing places. Jimmy, the landowner, was brilliant. He met us on arrival and saw us briefly before we departed. Overall, a superb week in a lovely property that has all you need for a quiet retreat. Thankyou Jimmy and thankyou Sykes.

Very modern, spacious and above all so clean and well equipped.Don’t be put off by the narrow lane leading to it - we never encountered any problems. Loads of local walks - straight from the cottage doorstep! Wadebridge is a very pleasant town with plenty of shops and supermarkets as well as bike hire outlets. We hired bikes for a day and cycled the Camel Trail - a great way to spend a day. Jim, the farmer/ owner was really welcoming and so friendly. We enjoyed our stay so much that we’ve rebooked for later in the year.

The secluded rear garden was a bonus! Owners very pleasant and helpful, even leaving us a card and some fizz to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. Very much appreciated, thank you. Lot’s to see and do in the local area and we were lucky with the weather! It may be useful to know that we were able to pre-book a shopping delivery from a supermarket so we didn’t have to waste time with basic grocery shopping. However there are plenty of local farm shops offering good local produce. A great week thank you!

Jimmy (the owner)was very nice, polite & helpful we knew he was there if we needed anything. The cottage was spotlessly clean & is well situated to travel to tourist areas but is off the beaten track to not see or hear anything other than the birds, bees & local farm animals. As we live in a city this was an added bonus to be able sit outside & just hear nature at it's best.We did feed the birds & it was lovely to see them coming in when we stayed in on very rainy days after storm Francis hit the area. Weather wasn't too bad considering the storm & we only had 2 days of heavy rain tues/thurs. We were a bit weary of how busy the whole of the area was & people not observing any social distancing. We only ate out once where they didn't take any details of track/trace which really put us off so we choose to eat back at the cottage where as normally like to eat out each night as we are on holiday but at least we had a lovely little patio area to sit on & chill with a glass when the weather allowed. We would definitely recommend this cottage & would book again if in the area.

You need to pass through one farm then up a further narrow lane as far as you can you go until you reach the end. Skylark is through the white gates on the right. The property was great, very well presented and we were met by the owner. There are other holiday lets within the farm but they're very discrete and you're not overlooked. It's very quiet and peaceful. If getting online is important to you then be aware that there's no WiFi - so we just used the personal hotspot on our phones. Camelford is a good base from which to get to Port Isaac, Bodmin, Bude, Newquay etc. We would definitely stop there again.
