  • "The barn was spotlessly clean, including the patio and the kitchen was equipped with everything we could need."

The central heating was very efficient and the supply of logs for the woodburner was much appreciated. The barn is ideal for dogs as it is secure and the flooring makes for easy cleaning and plenty of room for our dog crates. The stay was very quiet and comfortable with brilliant views of the countryside and the sea and made a fabulous base for touring around and the local pub was great for food and good ale. Perfect winter week away!

  • "Absolutely loved our stay at barn view, highly recommended"

    Mr SmithNov 2021

  • "A no hassle arrival and departure."

Barn View was an excellent choice for us having 4 dogs. The fenced patio area and the field were great for peace of mind and we really couldn’t fault the property for anything. Well equipped and spacious yet cosy. 10 out of 10.

    Mr SpencerNov 2021

  • "A very quiet and comfortable p[ace, take a torch if you go out at night."

Amazing night sky weather permitting. The large field next door is ideal to exercise your dogs or children.

    Mr CheethamOct 2021

  • "Excellently located property for a relaxing holiday and a good base for visiting the Devon and Cornwall coastal areas."

Barn View was very well equipped and furnished. The enclosed patio and adjacent field was perfect for our dog. Only 500 yards from the nearest pub, which is dog friendly and served good food.

  • "Location very comfortable."

Home from home. We have already recommended to friends.

    Mrs JonesAug 2021

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Barn view, very comfortable and well equipped, we loved the walk down to the beach perhaps the hike back up less so!"

The cottage would benefit from having a sturdy washing line and an indoor airer but all in it was a fabulous place to stay.

    Mr WoodJul 2021

  • "Fabulous, well equipped and very comfortable cottage, very dog friendly, nicest cottage we’ve been in for a long time ."

    Mrs RadcliffeOct 2020

  • "A beautifully maintained property in a peaceful and quiet location on the edge of the Devon/Cornwall border."

Great space for all of our dogs inside the property and outside in a private field adjacent to the barn. So good was the experience that I booked again for the following year. Looking forward to it in a couple of weeks time!

    Mr EdeSep 2020

  • "From the moment we pulled up, we were made to feel very welcome by the Owner, Roy, who left us a welcome bottle of wine!"

The cottage ticked all the boxes and exceeded our expectations. It was in a remote area, but within walking distance of the lovely coast of Welcombe Bay. The cottage itself was a 'home from home' and the log burner was an added bonus. The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything we needed and our two doggies, Wilson (Vizsla) and Finn (Cockapoo) were over the moon to be allowed to run in the adjacent field, with stunning views across the valley and beyond. We also walked half a mile to the local pub 'The Old Smithy Inn' where we were made to feel welcome in the lovely setting of a thatched traditional pub. Overall, a lovely cottage, fantastic place to stay, highly recommended and just what the Doctor ordered!! Will definitely be visiting again, all being well.

    Mrs StockwellSep 2020

  • "We booked for 4 adults and 2 children."

Due to the corona virus only 3 of us were able to visit. Had all attended there would have been a problem with beds. Although the bed settee was to sleep two there was no bedding for it. I would not class this as a 6 bed holiday home. So slightly disappointed. There was a small patio which needed to be hosed down as there was dog poo remnants on it.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that linen for the sofa bed was not provided, this was an oversight by the housekeeper. The owner who lives on sight would have brought linen across had he been made aware of the situation. He would also have hosed down the small patio. Property Owner

  • "Stayed at the barn during recent storms, very windy but comfortable, heating failed and owner Roy, Swifty got the issue resolved as quickly as he could."

    Mr BrimacombeFeb 2020

  • "Barn view the cottage is lovely- comfortable and clean, but nowhere in the listing does it state that there is building work on the site every week day."

Our ‘peaceful’ retreat with the occasional passing tractor (stated in description) turned out to include a dumper truck, digger, chainsaw, several workers and their radio 5 days out of 7 so the idea of a restful week was kind of ruined a bit. If you’re intending on using the cottage as a base only and being out all day every day then great, but if you like to holiday at your own pace and itinerary then I would avoid until ALL of the building work is finished.

    Mr PooleSep 2019

  • "A lovely property, plenty of room."

Great location for sight seeing. Quiet too. Ideal for dogs as outside area slabbed and secure. Would definitely stay there again

    Mrs SwatmanSep 2019

  • "Patio was full of weeds and thistles 18 inches high, there was a vase of dead tulips in the dining area, dish washer was full of dishes."

    Mr TrottMay 2019

  • "Spacious, modern, clean and well-equipped cottage."

Always nice to be able to drive right to the door for unpacking. Accepts dogs but doesn't smell of dog, which is good if you haven't got dogs yourself. Excellent location for access to the coast path without having to drive. Slightly weird being in a modern barn conversion in the midst of a rather overgrown farm setting with building works ongoing, but then lots of properties have their quirks. One suggestion would be to keep the weeds at bay which are invading the fenced patio area from the surrounding farm. We would be very happy to return.

    Mr ReillyMay 2019

  • "The barn was lovely and was equipped really well, the only thing it didn’t have which was a minor issue was oven gloves."

The location and setting was beautiful so couldn’t fault that at all. We’re were very disappointed when we arrived and there was dog poo in the terrace area off the kitchen, it wasn’t a pleasant start. There were some issues with the drains while we were there but the owner Sorted it for us quickly. It’s a lovely barn and we really enjoyed our stay there. The meadow over the back was great for the dogs to run around in and they had a whale of a time too.

  • "This was the 3rd time we have stayed at barn view, the cottage itself has gone down over the years but has got what you need, it is well equipped!"

Fairly comfortable, but the outside was absolutely disgusting! The gravel driveway was covered with dog poo!! We had a dog with us which we cleaned up after religiously! but we presumed it was the owners dog as it was allowed to soil the driveway I counted 6 piles as we left, there was no effort to clean up! And the smell was awful! We will not be going back!,

  • "What a lovely relaxing week away ..."

What a lovely relaxing week away The dogs loved all the near by beaches And coming back to a log fire made it very special

    Mr MapstoneNov 2018

  • "Fantastic location gorgeous barn we loved it and would love to come and stay again"

    Mr HallOct 2018

  • "Excellent base for a great holiday."

A home from homewuth everything you need.

    Miss GlennieAug 2018

  • "We had a wonderful week in Barn View, lovely patio area for the sun until late afternoon, the dogs loved the field next door, the barn had everything that we needed and more, wi fi was a bit hit for our teenage daughter."

The beach at Northcott Mouth was fantastic for the dogs. The walk to Welcombe mouth was lovely, a bit hard on the way back but well worth it. Had a nice pint at the Old Smithy. All in all 10 out of 10.

    Mr MooneyJul 2018

  • "Property just as described."

One of the biggest we have stayed at. There is a small paved courtyard with table and chairs, which is set secure for dogs. An adjacent field is available to exercise them but this is not secure. There were some building works ongoing during our stay but we assume the remainder of the work to be carried out should not impact Barn View. Excellent location for walks to the coast. Bude definitely worth a vist.

    Mr HillierJun 2018

  • "The house was excellant inside and very well supplied ,however the hot water was only lukewarm and large piles of spoil at the site which was actually a building site made it less appealing all round."

The area of welcombe itself was just what we were looking for.

    Mr TreagustJun 2018

  • "Barn View was a fantastic hideaway and the owner was lovely."

The local pub had great food and ambience and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately Helpful Holidays called to demand a final payment a few days prior to the holiday which was upsetting as we were advised the owner was not happy with us. In the end, Helpful Holidays realised they had made a mistake as we had paid the balance weeks before.

    Mrs ChiversMay 2018

  • "The only problem I had with this place was the sleeping areas as the bed setter was in the bedroom, as my kids are older the can't sleep in the same room which meant one of them slept on the sofa in the living area."

    Mrs WoodheadMar 2018

  • "We have stayed in Barn View many times."

The property itself is very clean, tidy, comfortable and well equipped. However it is let down by the outside, there were piles of dog poo left outside by the back gate and down by the wood store. The field is lovely for the dogs, but it is not enclosed as gated access has been made for the mobile home that is in the far corner. The mobile home now has a permanent tenant. The occupant was out firing a bow and arrow in the field, whilst we were exercising our dogs. We found this to be most uncomfortable so unfortunately we won't be returning again.
