“The cottage was perfect for a week away.”

Very clean and nicely appointed (AEG appliances in the kitchen for instance). The headroom on the first floor might be an issue for some - you will bump your head on the sloping ceiling but I’m 6’4” and managed ok. The location is excellent - a short walk to the harbour, shops and eateries at Charlestown but more importantly it’s centrally positioned for other towns and attractions. Padstow is 30 mins away, Fowey 20 mins and St Ives/Penzance are an easy day trip at about an hours ...

The location is excellent - a short walk to the harbour, shops and eateries at Charlestown but more importantly it’s centrally positioned for other towns and attractions. Padstow is 30 mins away, Fowey 20 mins and St Ives/Penzance are an easy day trip at about an hours drive (and well worth making the journey). The Lost Gardens of Heligan are close by and should be on your list if you like that sort of thing. Overall an excellent choice.

The property

This luxurious detached character cottage is set in the small select Merchants Quarter development in the heart of the historic harbour port and village of Charlestown, Cornwall. The cottage has high quality fixtures and fittings throughout and is ideally located for a romantic break, visiting the many leading attractions in south Cornwall. The cottage is set beside the road leading to the harbour and benefits from views down the road towards the harbour and sea beyond.

Guests can enjoy a pleasurable short stroll to take in all the delights this village has to offer. Enter the cottage and be welcomed into the delightful open-plan living area.

There is a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable sitting area, most relaxing after a day spent on the beach or visiting the Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan, two of the finest attractions in Cornwall, both only a short drive away. As the evening draws to a close, venture up the first-floor to find a beautiful cottage bedroom with sloping ceilings and beams, and a balcony overlooking the living room.

The bedroom also benefits from a well-appointed en-suite, complete with a walk-in shower, basin and WC. Famous as being a popular location for film and television sets especially Poldark, Charlestown remains unspoilt and retains much of its Georgian character often harbouring magnificent square riggers ships transporting you into a bygone age. Fine restaurants, pubs and cafes offer a selection of meals to suit all. A choice of superb golf courses and spas are all available close by and add to a relaxing holiday. A beautifully presented cottage in a wonderful village to be enjoyed and appreciated all year round.
