  • "It was a nice house but it was quite dirty in places with plenty of cobwebs on the 2nd floor and what looked like mouse droppings in the 2nd floor double bedroom towards the end of our stay."

We felt the photos on Sykes slightly exaggerated the size of the house too, and were disappointed that no mention was made about the very close building works that were on-going, which were noisy during the day and partially blocked access to the house by road.

  • "It was a lovely house, a bit home from home which is ideal for self catering holiday."

The only criticism I would have is the Wi-Fi was very poor, which is a shame when there’s a few of us trying to access it at the same time.

  • "This beautiful house, full of character is clearly a loved family home, not a typical ‘holiday home’."

The kitchen is fully equipped, there is nothing that you will need that is not to be found in one of the cupboards or drawers. Fowey is full of hills, so the access to the house being on a small hill, is to be expected and results in the sunny patio having one of the best views around. We have already booked again for next year.

  • "The house was everything and more we could have hoped for."

It is a stunning, luxurious house in an amazing location and very well equipped and make for a perfect family holiday. Much as we would like to keep it a hidden secret, we would have no hesitation in recommending the property.

  • "The house is fabulous, perched above the estuary with amazing views of boating life."

It is perfectly positioned for Readymoney Cove, the town and its restaurants, the passenger ferry to Polruan and coastal walks. We enjoyed the walk to Polkerris beach via Gribbin Head, lunch at Sam's on the Beach and return on the Saints Way. We also enjoyed the motorised dinghy, kayak and paddle board from Fowey River Hire. Great meals and service at the Old Quay House restaurant and Bufala, delicious pastries from the Cornish Bakery, crab and spring onion quiches and the selection of local cheeses at Kittows (Smugglers, Helford Sunrise and Montgomery our favourites). 62 Esplanade has a wonderful patio and long kitchen table to seat a large group. The kitchen was well equipped, we could have just done with a small vegetable knife and a draining board for items washed by hand. I brought washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cloths and sponges, but these were all supplied. We enjoyed the welcome bowl, Smugglers tea and coffee capsules. The lighting in the sitting room could be improved, we found it a little dark. Good arrangement of bedrooms and choice of doubles, twin etc ideal, beds very comfy. We felt very spoilt in the beautiful master bedroom. As you can tell we had a wonderful holiday, thank you.

  • "The house is beautiful!"

We enjoyed our stay very much. Just a few pointers...There are no locks on any of the bathrooms or toilets! There were no oven gloves or tea towels. The instructions on what to do with rubbish, recycling and food waste were very unclear. The top floor bathroom could do with a shower curtain or having a shower rather than a roll top bath.

  • "The location was good, amazing views."

Great house, well decorated. Kitchen was furnished with great tableware and lots of glasses. Suggest advise future guests on parking, 10 minute steep walk but cheaper parking charge than expected. If you haven’t visited Fowey before almost everywhere is steep. It keeps you fit, so you can eat more cream teas.

  • "Great location in the town of Fowey, fantastic views across the mouth of the estuary, watching the Polruan foot ferry put, put across."

The access is steep and by foot only, so would be a struggle for anyone mobility impaired. Great rooms, kitchen and lounge and plenty of nice bathrooms too. Great week.

  • "It had been many years since we had a holiday in Cornwall so it was nice to return to Fowey."

One thing I had forgot was how impossible the parking can be. How ever the property 62 Esplanade was up to the task. with fantastic views and easy reach of the town center. We stayed over the Christmas break and it did not disappoint. As not to lug all the weeks previsions in the car, We ordering the food from the local butchers in the town center and combined with a delivery from local supermarket, It turned out to be the best thing ever. Down side: Access to the property was up a steep slop and then the steps upto the front door took its toll on the older members in the party. Along with the lack of parking made coming back after along day out an experience to forget. While parking is available in a number of public car parks and if you are lucky and some 2 hour parking bays it still requires you to walk a fair distance. Up Side: If you are fit and enjoy the walks its just the place for you. the views and the local amenities are outstanding. We will return to Fowey a lovely friendly town.
