  • "Ferryside Watch and the Town of Fowey are fabulous!"

The accommodation was everything it was described to be, and the kitchen was well equipped. Fowey is a great base to day trip from and to come home to with many shops, pubs and restaurants. Our favourite holiday cottage and village to date!

Beautiful rooms, cosy in rain and mist, light and airy in sunshine. Perfect to have parking so we could spend the whole week on foot - pottering round Fowey and walking the cliffs and bays on Polruan the side. Would love to return.

  • "A very comfortable homely cottage, not just a holiday let but a home from home."

Well equipped and lovely decor and furnishings, the upstairs lounge with estuary view is an added bonus. The listing accurately advises of the need to be mobile and agile due to the number of steps. Everything worked as it should , the cottage was clean and tidy , and the welcome wine and cream tea was a thoughtful and much appreciated gift. The garage is spacious for a large car and the directions were spot to help us locate it, with the RNLI shop/station being a good marker that you are close. Ferryside Watch is somewhere that we would be happy to return to and recommend to others.

Location perfect with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. We particularly liked the bottle of wine left for us and the cream tea - most welcome after a long journey! We enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace with our morning coffee. A wonderful stay all round, thank you.

Everything was so comfortable- bed, sofa etc. spacious and light , tasteful decoration and accessories. Thoughtful welcome pack. Stunning views and perfect location. Can’t fault it and if we come to Fowey again would definitely want to stay at Ferryside Watch.

  • "The property was exactly as we expected from the information shown."

Having a dedicated parking place was one of the main reasons we chose Ferryside Watch and it did not disappoint. The views from the lounge windows are wonderful and both bedrooms very comfortable. The equipment and supplies were better than expected too. Perhaps the outside areas could do with some TLC and I agree with a previous comment that half the cushions could be removed and still be more than enough! Many thanks to all concerned as we had a wonderful week.

  • "We had a wonderful holiday in Fowey and this house was amazing."

It smelled lovely when we walked in. It was immaculately clean and it had a wonderful view of the estuary from the lounge windows. We loved looking out at the view of the boats etc and at the gulls nesting on the roof below. The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen was really well equipped, even the crockery was lovely!!! We also really enjoyed Fowey with its numerous restaurants, cafes, pubs as well as other shops. But another thing that was great about this house was that it was a flat(!) 5 minute walk away from the hustle and bustle so it was very peaceful. There was even a garage which we were so grateful for as we didn't have to think about where we would park. Thank you for sharing such a great holiday home.

Comfortable and plenty of utensils. Beautiful looking out at the river. Lots to do and see around Fowey. The only thing I would remark on is getting rid of so many cushions! Overall we would go back again. The owner provided wine, jam, buns, tea, coffee and milk which was very nice.

  • "The property overall was lovely - it had everything we needed for a week away."

Having stayed at a number of holiday homes, Ferrywatch was looking a bit tired and the outside space let it down. At the beginning of the season, you'd expect all areas to look tidy, but outside was full of weeds, a broken box that, if new, could have provided outside cushions for the chairs to sit on. It just needed some general TLC to make it look nicer. We also had problems opening some of the Windows - they seemed to be painted shut and lots of old reed diffusers in every room, which could have been replaced. When you pay so much for a week away, you do compare one house to another - Ferrywatch is a beautiful property, it just needs a good tidy.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We thank you for your comments. The garden has been attended to. Our maintenance team have taken a look at the windows, this is an old property and so sometimes in wet weather the windows can stick. The old reed diffusers have been removed and replaced with new ones. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and it's wonderful views. Property Owner

WiFi faulty on arrival. However this was promptly overcome, for the most part, by providing access to next doors service. Thank you. Some consideration to the step leading to the kitchen may be worth some further thought, from a health and safety prospective. Points above aside the house was wonderful, great views and a very relaxing stay.

  • "Property was very clean, tidy and comfortable."

Unexpected welcome pack provisions were great and having its own parking space was bonus. A short flattish walk to the many shops, bars and restaurants. We did initially have to make two laps of the town to identify the garage as it is described as having brown doors, but they are not brown.

Thank you for your feedback. We confirm the information has been update and it now does specify having dark green doors. Property Owner

  • "Booked primarily on looks, reviews and the parking, we enjoyed our stay in Fowey and on the whole in Ferryside Watch, the stairs to the property could do with some maintenance (flora and fauna trimming back, better handrail maybe) and realise this would be a shared responsibility for those properties."

Ferryside we felt is looking tired, mainly the Damp smell throughout the property got to us (smelly sticks in jars) around the property don't really help and, everything felt damp. Lack of proper wardrobe space, worn rugs to lounge, as were the cushion covers, broken handle to bathroom door, broken toilet roll holder and, the bottom three steps to the stairs I'd say is, (an accident waiting to happen) carpet needs attention and definitely Don't use the rusty toast rack. We found small types of bugs in the kitchen area so, didn't leave any food stuff out. Maybe a new microwave and some general maintenance is required but, if nobody tells the owners, I supposed they'd never know. We didn't touch the scones etc left for us on our arrival (because of the above) but, enjoyed the wine and the T bags and milk etc were a nice touch.

Thank you for your feedback which you will note is in stark contrast with all previous and recent feedback. Guests who visit Ferryside have an exceptional time and their comments show a true picture of the property. Had you contacted us during your stay we would have been more than happy to have sent our housekeeper out to assist with any issues. The owner of the property has visited Ferryside Watch since your stay and did not observe any of the issues you mention. Maintenance is always planned following a very busy season where redecoration, cleaning of rugs/cushions etc will be carried out. The microwave is in perfect working order and will not be replaced, the scones are a welcome gift from the owner provided as a gesture of goodwill and enjoyed by all guests who stay. Property Owner

House was beautiful, Fowey was absolutely stunning, visit to Port Isaac and Lost Gardens of Heligan is a must. Highlight was paying £65 for 3 hours on a self drive 5 seater boat to explore. I didn’t want to leave and cried a little when I had to!

  • "BEAUTIFUL cottage with relaxing views over the harbour (over rooftops)."

You can sit in the bay of the living room with a cuppa in the morning or cold drink in the eve and watch the sunset, the car ferry crossing and the various different boats moored and sailing. Really tranquil views but short walk to the town. Would recommend Sam's (esp the moules et frites and kids meals are great value), Brown Sugar café, Ruby's for icecream (and also icecream under the King of Prussia nr the harbour very cheap but delicious!), Haveners for drinks with a view and Fowey fish and chips are great for sitting watching the world go by. We got the car ferry over the water and drove to Polperro beach - lovely day trip. We also did the boat trip around the bay and saw Readymoney beach and the whole harbour area out to sea and back (45 mins). Eden project a bit pricey but well worth a visit (you can use the ticket for a year). Gardens of Heligan also a great day out for individuals or families. The cottage was very well equipped, plus the welcome package of tea, coffee, sugar, scones, fudge and wine was very thoughtful. Cleanliness was excellent. Cottage has been very tastefully decorated and we would definitely recommend and hope to stay again. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • "Our fourth stay at Ferryside Watch didn’t disappoint."

We enjoyed great weather and hardly used the car as we walked everywhere and enjoyed the activity on the river and Readymoney Beach. Lovely welcome pack is always gratefully received. Only negative point was that we were woken up on our last day by the ceiling of the porch crashing down making a mess on the tiles and a huge gaping hole. No one’s fault so we cleared up the mess and left a note for the Housekeeper.
