  • "Great location, clean and warm and comfy"

Thank you for your feedback and apologies for the late response but I had actually moved Serendipity to another Agent for a year and now we are back with Helpful Holidays again. I'm so glad that you had such a lovely holiday in Serendipity and we hope to see you again soon. Serendipity is in a perfect location and is ideal for a cosy couple's getaway. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is very well positioned and equipped."

It was great to be out of the centre but so close to the pubs and restaurants. The parking is conveniently close. For us the cottage was a little on the small side and lacking storage upstairs. We visited in May so we had quite a lot with us to include wet weather walking gear. Overall very stylish and welcoming.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad that you had such a lovely holiday in Serendipity. There are lots of lovely walks around Fowey and it sounds like you did lots of exploring. Have you looked at my other cottage, The Shell Seekers which is above Serendipity as this is larger and does have the outside space with The Crow's Nest at the top of the garden with gorgeous views above the roof tops. We are in the process of adding some more storage upstairs for guests. Property Owner

  • "Lovely little cottage, perfect for couples who are likely to be out and about a lot."

...could be a bit confined during inclement weather. Very well presented and well equipped, in a good location a little way outside the hustle and bustle of the village centre. We found the hip bath / shower arrangement awkward to access due to the height of the sides - a walk-in shower would be perfect. Had a wonderful week and would definitely recommend for active couples.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad that you had such a lovely holiday in Serendipity and thank you recommending Serendipity, I do appreciate it. We did have a note to say that the bath was small and deep with high sides but for some reason this has been removed from the website, we have now updated this so people are aware but thank you for bringing it to my attention. • "The cottage itself is great - small but very well positioned with parking nearby that was easy enough to get into."

Its then a short walk into Fowey. Inside the cottage is best described as compact - its all there but well packaged. The shower is good but the bath is about half size. There were some technical issues - the wall fire isn't right and the extractor fan the cottage needs has a timer with a mind of its own. We had to turn it off at night as it started at midnight each day for no apparent reason. I'd replace the mattress and the sofa now as they have clearly had a lot of use so are no longer as comfy as they once were. Overall though the cottage is a great base for a holiday in Fowey.

Thank you for your feedback and sincere apologies for the delay in my response. I am sorry to hear that the fan was coming on at midnight, I have had my electrician look into this and also the electric fire and both these issues have now been resolved. Serendipity does have a lovely and very comfy new sofa. I will also look into the mattress as several guests have said how comfortable the bed is. Property Owner

  • "The bath / shower facilities would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems as side is very high."

Thank you for leaving your feedback, we do appreciate this. We have advised on the description of Serendipity that the bath is a small deep bath with high sides and even though it's small it's still ideal for soaking in after a day of exploring. There is also a grab handle on the wall for safety. We hope you to see you again in beautiful Fowey. Property Owner

  • "A very strong smell of damp in the cottage, both of us suffered all week with breathing ."

Everything else was fine, a bijou property but expected that from reviews. Location great. Needs a very good clean as felt it hadn’t been, I went around wiping finger print marks and stains in places, so if it wasn’t for the strong damp smell and cleanliness then it’s a lovely property.

Thank you for your review and apologies that you felt the cottage smelt of damp. We have been informed by the owner that a tile had blown in the shower allowing water to run around the walls. This has now been fixed and the damp smell has disappeared. Serendipity is booked in to be repainted at the beginning of October. We have also been in touch with the cleaners, and they have done a thorough clean in Serendipity. We do value all our feedback and hope to welcome you back to Fowey again. Property Owner

  • "Everything was perfect, cottage was clean and well presented."

Easy walking access to the village centre. Could do with some more ventilation in the hot weather, perhaps a few pedestal fans. Car parking can be challenging, limited space in the Caffa Mill car park and a very steep climb back up to the main car park if you have to park there, which we did on several occasions. Have to be very careful stepping out of the cottage, it is straight into the road on a blind corner, got to listen carefully for traffic. Fowey is a beautiful village and perfect if you love boats and the hustle and bustle of village life in a tourist hot spot but it is peaceful in the early morning and evening. You need to book tables in restaurants way ahead of time, no availability at all on the day anywhere.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad that you had a lovely holiday in Serendipity. We have put a fan in the bedroom now for the warmer months. We hope to see you again in beautiful Fowey. Property Owner

  • "Clean, warm, comfortable, well equipped and convenient for the centre of Fowey and for the nearby (but not too near) car park."

The property description is accurate although the shortage of storage space is less obvious (we kept some clothes in the suitcase) and the bath is a sit-in one although fine for a shower. The room above the sitting/dining area belongs to the upstairs property and has a wooden floor. It was slightly disconcerting and noisy when the upstairs occupants (including the dog) moved around. That said, we were happy with our stay and would consider staying there again if we revisited Fowey.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad that you had a lovely holiday in Serendipity. We are in the process of putting more storage upstairs. Yes, my other Cottage The Shell Seekers is above and we have now put a rug on the sitting room floor. We hope to see you again soon in beautiful Fowey. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, great location and equipped with everything you could need during your stay."

As per the description it is a small cottage but it does not feel it once you have settled in. It is short walk to the shops and restaurants and all Fowey has to offer. There is so much choice within Fowey we ended up eating out every night. Due to Covid restrictions you need to book a table if you are going out or else you will be disappointed! Parked in Caffa Mill every day and found a space every day. We bought a weekly rover parking ticket before we got to Fowey so could use it in Caffa Mill and every other long stay car park in Cornwall which we found really useful. A lot of thought has gone into this cottage and making it as welcoming and comfortable as it is. We hope to return and would not hesitate to stay in Serendipity again. Two things to note but did not cause us any issues at all are that the stairs are a little steep, but perfectly useable and the shower is over the bath which is very deep! We had a lovely time in Serendipity and loved it and Fowey.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad that you had a lovely holiday in Serendipity, we have tried to make it so you experience a home from home holiday and it is very well equipped. The bath is a small deep bath with high sides and even though it's small it's still ideal for soaking in after a day of exploring. There is also a grab handle on the wall for safety. • "Nice cosy cottage in a good location , loverly fishing port , great views in Fowey ."

. Somewhat smaller than we had expected, the bathroom is adequate at best , very small bath and the shower and screen needs attention. You also need to take extreme care going down the stairs, very steep. Having said that the cottage is overall comfortable. Also one other negative issue no wardrobe to hang clothes , we were literally living out of our suitcase. Don’t think we will go back but enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for taking the time to send in your review of the cottage. We are pleased that you found the cottage to be cosy and the location lovely. We are disappointed however, that you found the cottage to be smaller than anticipated. We believe the photographs online show all aspects of the cottage, it is cosy, well laid out and as you said comfortable. It is noted in the marketing details that there are clothes hooks in the bedroom and extra storage for clothes in the kitchen, we would hope that this explains the situation to our guests before they arrive. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we do hope you will reconsider and visit again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week at Serendipity."

It is a very cute cottage, perfect for two people with easy access into the centre of Fowey and also for the car park which was very handy. It has been lovingly decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The property was very clean and beautifully presented as well as very well equipped with everything you could wish for. The only downside was the lack of outside space but we knew this when booking. There are benches not far away where you can sit and watch the boats on the river. Also, like another reviewer, we did find the mattress a bit too soft and it certainly didn't feel a proper kingsize bed. Having said all this, we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend Serendipity as a lovely place to stay.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad that you had a lovely holiday in Serendipity, we have tried to make it so you experience a home from home holiday and it is very well equipped. The bench over the road is a great to spot to watch the boats on the water, I have sat there many a times. The mattress has been changed and it is a kingsize bed. • "'A wonderful place to relax'   We had a lovely stay in Serendipity, it was a surprise holiday for my partner, we love Fowey, this is our second visit this year!"

Having seen a few comments recently about the cottage, I can confirm that there has been some maintenance done in Serendipity.  The bed was so comfortable, the white bedding with the lovely fur throw makes it so cosy for this time of year.  The bathroom looked very clean and we didn’t have a problem with the towels.  The kitchen is one of the best stocked kitchens we’ve seen in a holiday let.   Serendipity is a great little cottage for 2, very cosy and warm, tastefully furnished to high standards meant we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Fowey.   Good places to eat: The Ship, Pintxo and Sam’s.  We had a couple of good walks – The Hall walk from Bodinnick and the walk from Readymoney beach along the coastal path to Polkerris.   We will be back again soon to Serendipity, thank you!

Have made a phone call to explain, bedding and towels smelt musty, shelf over towel rack missing, towel rail coming away from wall and no corkscrew

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback for your stay at Serendipity. Our cleaners have assured me that the bedding for your stay came straight from the laundry. We will continue to check bedding to ensure it is fresh for our guests. The over towel rail glass shelf was recently broken by a guest and for health and safety reasons we are looking for a suitable replacement. In the meantime, there is another shelf and plenty of towel hooks as well as a newly installed heated towel rail. The kitchen does have a corkscrew, so we will check if it has been removed or was just not found and replace if necessary. Black mold in the bathroom, bathmats very stained. We both had backache as the mattress not great and the pillows need replacing. Just needs a general deep clean and freshening up. Also very tricky door lock some days it took 10 mins to lock. The booking itself was very straight forward and we had all the information needed. Kind regards.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback for your stay at Serendipity. We have been in contact with the cleaners to ensure that particular attention is made to bath mats and other linen supplied. Mattress and pillows can be a very personal choice. Many guests have commented about the comfy beds, so we are sorry that they weren't to your preference. We are happy that in other regards, you had an enjoyable stay.
