  • "Wonderful location on the site, very secluded and peaceful."

The beds were superb and we never lost any sleep. Very relaxing stay on a very pleasant site. Only point to note would be the lack of a rack for the grill pan which makes grilling some foods awkward when self catering but apart from that one major plus was the steamer pan in the cupboard, the first time we've found one in any lodge and a big plus as we have started bringing our own due to steamed veg being much nicer.

Thank you so much for leaving us your wonderful feedback Pete, we really appreciate your time. It is always lovely to hear how peaceful and tranquil our guests find the resort and I am very happy that you found the steamer so useful. You are absolutely right, steamed veggies are delicious! Thank you also for pointing out the lack of a grill pan, I will pass your comment to our housekeeping staff to rectify the issue. Please hurry back! Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "An amazing stay and we will definitely be returning!"

The lodge was fabulous, the setting beautiful and location ideal. The cleaning could’ve been better (mainly the bathrooms), but it was ok and the pillows were not very comfy but these are minor issues. Overall a wonderful stay.

Thank you for such a great review and are glad you had a wonderful stay so much so that you would return and we would look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

  • "Third visit to this lodge (first time with Sykes) So."

.. Not enough cutlery or plates, bowls etc. Had to request more (twice) but then we were luckily given more. Originally there was only 4x of everything and it was no where near enough... To little to run a dishwasher... And didn't want to run it after every meal! Really didn't want to be washing up every 5mins while on holiday. No Slippers provided. There have been on every other visit and they are handy with the hot tub. Bin system continues to be awful... The three (now broken from the original pull out from under draw system) is just impractical. Gets filled in 2 seconds due to size. No cooking slice/ spatula... I use this most with regards oven food so I had to buy one. We could not get the dryer to work.... It ran for nearly 3hrs but I don't think it is heating... Or we are dense...! Washing still soaking when it came out. Some sort of outside lighting near the hot tub would be helpful. Restaurant take away menu seems to have out if date pricing as we were charged more than stated in the lodge information folder. We do love this lodge layout, Stonerush and the area, but we certainly had a few niggles during this particular visit.

  • "I absolutely loved the lodge and it's location, couldn't have chosen a better getaway spot."

The biggest disappointment was the absolutely filthy hot-tub which also had no working lights on it. It literally had orangey-brown dirt in it which I did my best to wipe away myself. A man turned up on Saturday morning to test the chemical levels in the water, I'd have spoken to him but he didn't even knock our door he just came round the back and let himself in onto the decking area whilst we were inside having breakfast. Two minutes and he was gone!

About the location

LANREATH

  • Pelynt 2 miles
  • Looe 5 miles
  • Polperro 6 miles

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
