  • "We had a lovely long weekend at 2 Hedgerows."

The lodge was lovely and clean, staff attended daily to clean and check the hot tub. Staff on site were amazing! Kevin is lovely! We would definitely recommend and come again.

Thank you for your recommendation and are glad you enjoyed your stay, we look forward to welcoming you back again. Property Owner

  • "We had lots of problems, first the bed sheets were dirty, the washing machine was full of mold, the decking is broken by the hot tub and a nail went through my foot."

And then we found a pill on the floor which the dogs could of easily picked up. The dishwasher cupboard was also broken. It’s a shame as we stay here regularly and have never had a problem.

  • "First day, kids were eager to get into hot tub but there was a cover that had broken off which caused an issue."

Reported and was fixed within few days. In fairness we could still use in interim. However cleanliness generally was an issue. I didn't realise the accommodation was pet friendly. Which was my error when booking. Our first day, sat on settee and seen loads of white dogs hairs all down the sides of cushions. Then started noticing them in corners of rooms etc. I put the hoover round myself on first day which you shouldn't really need to do. 2nd day few repairs come to light, slats on blinds in living room missing, kickboards under kitchen would fall on your feet if you stepped to close, integrated doors for dishwasher and freezer both come away from appliance causing an issue and 2 hobs on cooker didn't work the entire time. Everything was reported and cooker hob was replaced day before we came home and very good contact from customer services for that. Generally good stay and for the money we paid for 7 days, with a hot tub which we haven't had before, we really enjoyed it however the property has definitely been rented excessively and wear and tear is starting to show. Rain would gather on the decking and loose boards out there, probably where its rotting. Bottom of glass pain of shower door needs bleaching as dirty. I stripped all the beds as asked on final morning before leaving. The beds which looked lovely and we all slept comfortable, actual mattresses and pillows were stained and you felt a bit weary after seeing it. Washing machine present which was a help however looking inside the rim of the door. It's black where it just needs cleaning. Property does need a bit of attention. On whole, nice holiday, weather was awful but if good, we could have really enjoyed the outside. Would revisit. Last thing I would say is rubbish and recycling quite a trek away. So had to take in car and empty out when leaving site for the day. Not mega issue but don't really want bags of rubbish in car when it's full with you and the kids. Maybe more sites could be plotted around?

  • "The chalet overall was nice and to a good standard."

But the experience was let down by a mattress that should of been replaced years ago. A good night's sleep is key to a holiday but this ruined my stay. Other little things like loose door handles, radiator in hallway comes on when switched off, hand soap dispenser in each bathroom, no lights on balcony (other chalets had these) all add up to the overall feel of the stay not reflecting of what it cost to stay there for a week. You also need to vet who stays there as next door had 5 young lads turn up, who were excessive in their noise levels late at night multiple times which again ruined the experience. So, a lovely place to visit let down by my points above means I probably would not visit again.

  • "Lodge needs some maintenance work as several things broke or needing attention."

2 hob rings not working. Plynth under kitchen sink was broken and fallen down. Curtain pole had come away from the wall and was just placed there. My husband went to close patio door r curtains and it came down on his head. Ensuite shower mixer tap extremely tight and was seized off. Dishwasher integral door and dishwasher door had detached from the unit it was inside. Ensuite tv remote worn out and broken. Really enjoyed our stay regardless of the above. Lodges just need some general maintenance done on them on a regular basis.

  • "Booked originally for last year, the wait for this year was well worth it."

We wanted a relaxing retreat and certainly got it. The facilities were brilliant for our family of five. Enjoying the hot tub under the stars was the perfect end to each day. A good base for the days we traveled to the nearby beaches. Will definitely recommend to friends and will return in the future.

  • "The cottage was better than expected."

You could see that it had been cleaned properly before our arrival and it felt very comfortable from the start. Even though there were cottages close by, there are hedges on all sides which gives you the feeling of privacy you want and makes you forget that the other cottages are even there. We also loved the hot tub and it was the perfect relaxation after each day of sigh seeing. The fact it was checked twice during our stay by maintenance also puts your mind to rest, knowing it is kept nice and clean. We will definitely be going back and have already recommended it to friends.

  • "We booked 2 Hedgerows for our group of 5 people including a 10 and 11 year old for 4 nights a week after half term, April 2021."

Stonerush lakes on which the lodge is situated is a fabulous peaceful and pretty setting, although you're a good 25 minute drive from a supermarket. The site was not busy but the lodges are really well spaced and separated. The lodge itself is fabulous with literally everything you need. The decor is really nice and bedding was lovely. There was a hot tub which got a lot of use and this was a major attraction for us. I've owned a hot tub and can say this was good for up to 3 adults or two adults and two kids. It maintained temperature well and there were sufficient jets. It was tested and treated at least a couple of times whilst we were there. The timber lodge and decking needed a bit of TLC in terms of staining / varnishing, but that's our only criticism. Overall, we were really happy, would be very interested in returning there and would certainly recommend it !

  • "We had a great stay the only let down was the cleanliness of the crockery and cutlery."

It is expected that the guests clean what they used but it seemed the cleaning crew did not check it as some forks and knives as well as bowls had food stains on. This then makes you wonder if the door handles and light switches were wiped down given the current climate...

  • "After the shelf in the fridge gave way and broke ,2 bottles Champagne and 1 bottle Prosecco felt on the floor from 4 feet high and exploded and scattered the whole Lodge with glass."

This could have made us and our 2 little dogs blind our gave us life changing scarfs. In the first place reception promised to send somebody to clean this up. Nobody showed up and later we where told that this was our own responsibility because its self catering. It took me hours to calm down my little dogs because of the sound of the exploding bottles and could not go for diner now. My wife was very upset because of this and I lost my appetite. This was our 6th wedding anniversary and very important for us still recovering from cancer. Our weekend was from the 08/11/19 till 11/11/19 later we read in the feedback book in the lodge that this broken shelf was reported several times with some other defects and cleanliness but nothing was done. Our wedding anniversary is messed up and never again we will go there. Further the dish washer was broken also reported 2 months ago but not nothing was done. We found when cleaning the scattered glass about 20 dead flies under the seats and enough hair to net a Labrador. Between the tiles in the bathroom is black from dirt, No light outside by hot tub. The restaurant / bar closed on Sunday. We are not even offered compensation for the broken bottles Prosecco and Champagne because of a broken shelf. Sykes told us that these shelfs in the door of the fridge are not made for bottles to put in. This must be special fridges because the rest of the fridges in the world that is the place to put bottles in a fridge on the bottom shelf in the fridge in the door. We are upset, disgusted and very disappointed with the state of the lodges and the way Sykes treated us. Greetings Dutch and Marcia

  • "We loved it overall."

However you need to listen to customer feedback. Many items were repeated in the guest book week after week but either ignored or perhaps the book is not read. These were that the dishwasher was broken as were the fridge shelves and there were no batteries in the torch supplied. The menu in the restaurant could have been wider. However we loved the peace and quiet and how the lodges were very private. We will defiantly be back just sort the little things.

Hot tub and outside area are a fantastic bonus. Looe and Polperro are just a 15 minute drive away. Looe in particular was a delight with a beautiful harbour, vibrant beach and wide variety of shops and cafes/restaurants. The on site restaurant was reasonably priced and the food was delicious. Stonerush Lakes offers a truly relaxing environment which kick started the school summer holidays in style for us as a family. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and very well situated for privacy. we had all that we required and the facilities were all there to help us cook and it was a nice surprise to get towels and dressing gowns which helped. What was exceptional was that on Easter Sunday we were let down by a local off site pub which had us down for a different time than we had booked originally. We go. Yjt back to the site and asked the two ladies at the old mill restaurant whether they could fit us in , this was at 4.30pm and there was seven of us. They were really accommodating and asked the chef who was so nice and agreed to cook for us which we truly appreciated. They all went above and beyond their roles and we really did think that was so nice as we were not sure what we would have done. Not only did they do that they couldn't do enough for us, making sure we had everything required. Thank you to those at the restaurant that made us feel special and went all out to make our holiday

This is the third time we’ve stayed there. There were a couple of problems though - the dishwasher does not wash properly. This has been the case now over several years and something we have fed back before. However it has not been fixed or changed. Secondly, I do not think the hot tub is cleaned properly as I have returned home with a red rash known as folliculitis. This is caused by hot tubs. This is the second time I have suffered from this after using your hot tub and have never had it any other time, hence why I think there is an issue with the cleanliness of your hot tub.

6 adults stayed for a week and the space was accommodating and comfortable. Hot tub was clean and great to use every day. The few steps up to the home could use a hand rail as the steps are deep but a wonderful week away had by all with beautiful near by walks and EXCELLENT food on site! I will definitely be using Skye cottages again.

About the location

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
