  • "Had a brilliant stay."

The lodge was well equipped and spotlessly clean. The site was lovely and it was so peaceful. We used the bar/restaurant a couple of times and the food was great.

It is wonderful to hear that your stay was relaxing Claire and that you loved your lodge and the resort! I am delighted that you were able to come and sample the food in the restaurant and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Hopefully you will be back to stay with us again in the very near future. • "Unfortunately, we haven’t had a good stay at 4 Tree Tops at all."

We’ve been to Stonerush Valley on 2 previous occasions and always enjoyed the experience, but we won’t be coming back again after this one. From Tuesday afternoon through to Thursday afternoon it feels like all we’ve heard is the sound of strimmers and leaf blowers outside during the day. It’s been pretty constant. We were happy to let it slide on the first afternoon as appreciate that they need to maintain the grounds, but they have been at it during the day for 3 days, and the noise levels are a bit ridiculous. We were actually put off sitting in the hot tub on Wednesday afternoon because of the level of noise. We did bring up the noise issues with the site through emails on 2 occasions during our stay, but we didn’t get any resolution - they didn’t offer any apology and they just insisted that they have a lot of ground to maintain. Completely understand this, but the length of time the work was going on for as well as the noise it was creating was too much. To make matters worse, we were then woken on Friday morning by noise from a gas truck outside the lodge - again, can understand that that gas stores need to be refilled, but why do this early on a Friday morning right outside the lodge!? Other minor issues - there is an unpleasant smell coming from the main bedroom en-suite and there is what appears to be black mould growing in this bathroom. Also, the meal we had at the on-site restaurant wasn’t as good as we’ve had previously, which is a shame because the food was always really nice. It wasn’t bad by any means, just not up to the level we’ve had in previous years. We’re actually leaving a day earlier than our checkout date given the above as we’re just feeling a bit fed up of the experience and the lack of customer care we’ve received. I don’t see how Sykes can say this lodge offers the ultimate escape to tranquility given the experience we’ve had.

I am so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay at 4 Tree Tops and you had several issues, causing you to cut short your holiday with us. We took over the ownership of Stonerush Lakes at the end of October last year and since that time have made several extensive changes to the resort and the way in which it is run. Our restaurant, bar and reception have just completed a full refurbishment and the owners of the lodge itself have made sure that all issues within the lodge have been rectified. Unfortunately our gas tanks do require filling and we have minimal control over the time of day this is done, but we have been in touch with the company who supply our gas to request that they come later in the day, so they do not disturb our guests early in the morning. I really do hope that you will come back and stay with us again, as we feel that you would see a vast difference in the site and we would love you to experience the very lovely changes we have made to the facilities on offer. Only fault was that on the last couple of days the hot tub seemed a bit dirty, not sure if it was treated towards the end of our stay. Other than that I’d say 10/10 and will defo book again.

That is great thank you for such a fantastic review and 10/10. We look forward to welcoming you back. The hot tubs are normally checked on a daily basis. Property Owner

  • "Overall the cottage was great."

But there was a small number of points that stood out for us. The main one being in the main bedroom, which has no opening windows. So the open doors at one end do not allow any draft to come through. So if you are staying there in the height of summer, the room is roasting at night. Even after leaving the doors open for 4 hours to cool the room after a day out, it hardly made a difference. You couldn’t leave the doors open overnight, as anything could have come in. The skylight window in the main room is fixed shut. We complained, and the staff (who are very polite) passed on the message. But their facilities people did nothing.

Thank you for leaving your feedback, we have noted your comments and will ensure these are addressed. Property Owner

  • "We had a thoroughly lovely week at 4 TreeTops and highly recommend the property."

Everything was good, however there was no TV in the second bedroom as advertised in the details, not a problem to us but maybe to others. Very quiet site and the property is totally private. We enjoyed the use of the south westerly decked balcony and the hot tub was a joy each day. There is a washing machine, despite a review saying the contrary, and a jolly good one at that. Will definitely be booking again.

  • "We had a wonderful stay, there was only a few things we would say could have improved, the windows around the sides and above the beds could do with better light blockage, the blinds don’t do a very good job, also, it would be nice if there was a proper allocation for extra pillows and outdoor lounge pillows as we had to stuff it all down the back of the sofa when not in use, a washing machine would be nice for longer visits as well."

The entrance road to the Tree Tops area could do with evening out also, far too bumpy. Other than these few improvements, it was lovely.

Thank you for your feedback. There is large outdoor plastic ottoman to place the outdoor cushions in when not in use. There is also a washing machine which is integrated inside a cupboard the outer side of the breakfast bar, facing the dinning room table. Property Owner

  • "The property and grounds was lovely!"

The hottub was definitely the star of the show and the rooms were clean and comfortable. However our fridge did not work at all maintenance attended and advised that I may take several days to cool down properly which is honestly unacceptable so I wouldn't book again on that basis as we lost in excess of £50 on food that could not be refrigerated ( an essential in a self catering property)

Location spot on ,privacy, on site restaurant no complaints at all. We didn't think we would use the hot tub but first evening we tried it and every day after that we went in it !! Plenty to do locally , Looe , Polperro (coastal walk stunning) Eden Project , Tintagel or just chill . Very enjoyable staycation*****

There was a large enclosed decking area ideal if you have small children. Hot tub was fab. Lots of outdoor furniture. Beds and sofas were uncomfortable. Would not recommend on site restaurant/take away, expensive, poor quality.

  • "Just returned from a weeks stay at treetops at stone rush lakes."

Beautiful lodge, bed comfy, everything you could need in the kitchen, looked like a brand new kitchen! Only slight niggle is that both sofas in lounge and main bedroom were very grubby and not comfortable at all, although this didn’t spoil our stay! Had a problem first day with temp of hot tub but was very promptly sorted and was fabulous for rest of our stay. Ate a couple of times in the restaurant, both meals lovely. Stone rush lakes is down a narrow lane but plenty of passing places! However path to treetops is all gravel and our car struggled on the way up and was very bumpy and uneven due to path surface so would advise caution when driving on it.

  • "Unfortunately we had to submit a complaint following not having a water supply for the first two days of our stay."

I do not think the site were helpful enough regarding the problem and failed to tell us, instead leaving bottled water by the front door. We booked a 5 star lodge and unfortunately without the use of the toilet, shower and hot tubfor the first 2 days was not the best start to the holiday. The cleanliness of the lodge was also questionable with many stains on the sofa and other furniture.

About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
