Upon arrival, we went to the reception, where we were greeted by Sally. She explained everything that we needed to know, and went onto our lodge. When we entered the lodge, it was clean and inviting. This then became our home for the week. The team were lovely and welcoming and made us feel at home for the week ahead. To say that the lodge was dog friendly, you wouldnt be able to tell as the lodge was in a prestine condition. The starter pack was very informative and handy with immediate essentials. The site was well maintained throughout our stay, and was peacefully quiet during our holiday. We cannot wait to book again.

  • "When we arrived we noticed immediately that there were no shelves in the fridge door, a lightbulb in the twin bedroom was strobing and the waste bin under the sink didn't have a lid."

That first night we then noticed the flashing light on the smoke alarm in the main bedroom. The following day we discovered congealed fat/oil in a frying pan and a dirty towel in the en-suite. To cap it all, the TV broke (which I appreciate can happen at any time). There were a few other issues but I don't want to appear overly critical. These things are not the end of the world but it was disappointing to have to report these issues to the reception staff. Simple checks before our arrival would have highlighted these problems. On a positive note all staff were lovely and friendly.

Many thanks for leaving your feedback for us Duncan, we appreciate your time. I sincerely apologise for the issues you found with your lodge during your stay, it was really lovely to meet you during your stay and hear about all the wonderful places you visited. I hope that despite the problems you encountered, you will come back and stay with us again in the future. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "Ref 7 Streamside upon arrival at this lodge we were more than disappointed with it, it was very untidy and not in the condition one would expect, my wife went into the bedroom and pulled back the quilt as their was a smell, we found human hairs on the bed sheet and the smell of urine at that point we wanted to go home, The so called cleaners should have been sacked all they done was put a fresh quilt cover on thinking they would get away with it, we expected this lodge to be far better however after going to the office we were eventually moved to another lodge."

Thank you for your feedback Lorraine, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us your thoughts. I am truly sorry to hear about the issues that you experienced whilst staying with us, especially the standard of cleanliness, as this is obviously not something we would wish for any of our guests to experience. The General Manager at Stonerush Lakes has been speaking with the director of the external cleaning company we employ and your complaint has been raised with them. I am glad that the she was able to help you whilst you were staying with us and moved you in to another lodge, which was far more suitable. We are trying very hard to make as many improvements as we can on both of our resorts. However, I appreciate this was not something you were able to experience, which is very disappointing. We really do hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

Food left around dish washer and food marks on the kitchen back splash tiles. One of the Kitchen cupboard smelt of grease! Didn't want to use anything in that cupboard. Dinning table was dusty obviously not cleaned before we arrived. These are just petty things for me personally. Loved the hot tub but couldn't use first day as it didn't get hot enough! Nice place but wouldn't book again as unhappy with access to the site. Also food really poor at the onsite restaurant, burnt pizza, frozen veg over baked steak pie, horrible mash (tasted like smash) and rubbery chicken, which was over priced. Have to say restaurant staff were lovely though and did refund one of the meals. This restaurant could be amazing but it wasn't unfortunately.

  • "What a wonderful stay we had, we stayed here in Dec 21 too."

Again our visit did not dissapoint. We stayed at Streamside both times and we really do enjoy it down by the stream. So calming to hear the water first thing in the morning. We love the Hot-Tub, we used it daily. Very happy that it gets checked daily for our own safety. Due to the time of year we visit, staff is limited and one of the evenings we wanted to use the on-site pub, it was CLOSED. We tried to go in a couple other times but they were closed. But I do know they are closed I think 2 days of our stay anyway. I would like to highlight that 2 toilet rolls for a week stay just isn't good enough, we learnt this from our last stay so I purchased some before we arrived. Also if there was a possibility to do this, I think if people are using the kitchen dailly and are staying for a week then two dishwasher tablets are not enough. Our lodge was full of cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in master bedroom and both bathrooms. The shower in the master could have done with some mould and mildew on the tiles and also shower hose. However, with all that aside we had the best stay, comfy bed, heating. T.V., used the local footpath, and we did feel super isolated which was great. We will be coming back next year for sure! We might even get some family to tag along too. Thank you for a great stay :)

. "I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay with us, despite the issues you highlighted in your feedback. It's great to have returning customers! I was sorry to hear that on the days you wanted to utilise the restaurant it was closed, we are usually open from 2pm from Tuesday until Saturday, so it was a shame to read you were not able to visit. Regarding supplies, our lodges are self-catering, so we provide basic household items as a part of a starter pack to get you through your first night in case items are forgotten. This is the reason why only the two toilet rolls and two dishwasher tablets are supplied, I'm sorry if this was not made clear to you before you arrived. I was disappointed to learn that your lodge wasn't cleaned to our usual high standard and have passed your feedback to our cleaning company, thank you so much for making us aware of the problems. We are so pleased to hear that you plan to pay us a return visit and look forward to seeing you and meeting your family very soon." Property Owner

Accommodation is private and spacious and will suit those escaping the hustle and bustle of similar lodges for rent. You can sit on your own private terrace and listen to the stream and distant livestock. Randomly the smoke alarm went off at 5am one morning but there was no fire. Perhaps a bit over sensitive which frightened the kids. This did not diminish our break and I wish we could have stayed longer.

  • "We had stayed here about 3 years ago and loved it so much that we came back, this time for 4 nights."

We were informed that since our last visit the accommodation was now pet friendly. This wasn't a problem at the time, however there was what I call a doggy smell, not overpowering but noticeable all the same. This was not a major problem as it mostly dissappeared as we had all the doors open for most of our first day as we spent the afternoon and evening on the terrace and in the hot tub. On the evening of our second day, on our return from a day out, I sat down on one of the sofas and after a little while noticed several thick black dogs hairs and numerous finer white hairs on the seats. On closer inspection there were dog hairs on the floor, on the shelf underneath the occasional table and under the furniture. Thankfully there was no sign of hair or odour in the bedroom. I have to say that although it did not totally spoil our stay, we were very surprised and disappointed and as a result we would not book number 7 or any other pet friendly lodge on this site and although we would love to return would only now do so in accommodation where no pets are allowed.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback, we have passed your comments across to ensure the standards expected are where they should be, many thanks we would love for you to return in the future. Property Owner

We’ve stayed in several lodges at Stonerush Lakes, but this one has the most comfortable bed, a really good powerful shower, choice of outdoor furniture on the decking, cushions for outdoor furniture are in the outdoor storage cupboards with the padlock codes in the guest folder. The only thing that let it down, was the cleaning. It was ok, but not to the standard you’d expect. Hand prints on the windows, sticky jam marks on a wall, black shower hose where it should be shiny metal, dusty floors behind doors. Just general not good attention to detail. The lodge itself was great, just better cleaning needed & supervisor checking afterwards.

Thank you, we have put in place a more stringent checking system to ensure the standards are what is expected, more spot checks have also been put in place to assist with issues prior to customers arriving. Many thanks Property Owner

  • "We were aware that some soft furnishings would not be available to us, however, we were unable to enjoy any outdoor space as there were no cushions for the chairs and sun beds outside."

The wooden table and chairs outside were covered in algae and actually had weeds growing in the chairs, so they were not able to be used during our stay. There was also no lighting on the verandas. I felt uncomfortable stepping out doors in the evening especially on wooden decking which was naturally unlevel with gaps between the planks. The kitchen was very well equipped, except for some essential items that we were not told would be available to us…tea towels and oven gloves! Unfortunately we ended up having to use a hand towel from the bathroom for both of these purposes, which is less than perfect. Not having oven gloves I would consider to be a bit of a health and safety issue. I would also like to mention for future holiday makers at Streamside 7, that there were no windows for fresh air overnight. The only way to get a bit of air was to leave the doors wide open and unlocked which was a bit of a security issue for me. Other than that a great site, very clean, very peaceful, and I can highly recommend the steak from The Old Mill!

15, as we were told not to arrive before 4pm due to covid, but on entry the floors were all still wet, so the cleaners had only just left the building, there were still cleaners darting about everywhere. The property was lovely and clean and well equipped. Our only issue was that we couldn't open any windows overnight to cool the property down. All of the doors/windows were floor to ceiling, so that wouldn't be safe. We had a lovely holiday despite some rain showers, Cornwall never fails to impress!

Also, all the cleaning staff (I assume) were all stood chatting around the bin shed/laundry area when we left with no masks and no obvious social distancing going on that we could see.(There were about 20 or so). Lodge itself was clean and comfortable. Good linen, towels. Good bed. Everything you need. As previously mentioned hot tub is old, temp and jets ok for us. The lid is a pain to lift off as you have to lift off yourself and it’s heavy! Patio furniture and deck could of benefit from a very good clean. Green mould on patio set. We didn’t sit out even though sunny as the stream attracts lots of mosquitoes!! Don’t know if it was breeding season but tons of them! Lodge gets sun most of the day. The patio doors on lodge are unusual as no handles on outside so don’t shut any doors behind you! No phone signal but can use WiFi. The road to the site is a little tight and bendy but that’s Cornwall for you. Just don’t take wrong turn like us and end up on awful windy roads!! Restaurant was closed so can’t comment on that. It’s not very far from fowey, looe and Polperro which are all lovely to visit. Overall a good stay but hot tub needs updating and patio furniture needs clean and take mosquito spray!!

..this property, and the site on which it's located, are simply stunning. You get a real sense of privacy, whilst benefiting from the security of being on a site. The location is perfect for exploring south east Cornwall, and it's not too far of a drive to the north Cornwall coast either. The hot tub with views of the stream, wood and surrounding countryside is a joy and got used every day, often more than once a day. The lodge is very well equipped and included some thoughtful finishing touches. We didn't eat in the on-site restaurant but did order takeaway one night. The food was very tasty and the portion sizes were good. The drive to the site, once you leave the main road, is a bit hairy, but luckily we only met vehicles coming the other way once or twice, and it certainly wouldn't be enough to put us off. We will definitely be returning, if not to 7 Streamside then to one of the many other beautiful properties at Stonerush Lakes.

About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
