  • "Excellent stay at clean comfortable lodge with relaxing hot tub."

We were very pleased with the services and facilities and location in peaceful spot by the lake. The staff were very friendly and accomodating, even switching our booking at no extra cost , when our daughter hurt her leg and couldn't go away on the original date. Sally gave us helpful local advice on the best beaches to visit and we did and really loved it. Would recommend and go back. Thank you. [Tiny recommendation for a mattress topper for single bed as springs were bit lumpy for daughter. There is small amount of black round sink due to water not being wiped properly, this is not owner's fault but perhaps some protection could be installed?]

Thank you so much for leaving us your lovely feedback Elizabeth, we really appreciate your time. I am very pleased to hear that you loved your stay with us at 7 Water's Edge and that you were able to visit the beaches I told you about! Thank you also for your suggestions for a mattress topper for the single bed, I will pass this to our housekeeping team. Quite a few of the worktops on the resort are due to be re-sanded and varnished, so I will check that your lodge is on the list! Hopefully these issues will not stop you from returning to see us again in the very near future. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "This was like a home from a home, it had everything you could possibly need and more."

The property was very clean and tidy with modern finishings throughout. The balcony overlooked a peaceful lake creating the most relaxing of environments. The hot tub was fabulous, and surprisingly private considering it was at the side of the property. The only thing I might change would be the trees in front of the balcony as it does block the view slightly, that being said it does mean that you have more privacy. An outdoor light would be useful also as it is pitch black apart from the indoor light. These however wouldn’t stop me booking this particular property again. Sally and her team were lovely and welcoming, The Mill restaurant looked lovely however we only had a drink on the outdoor terrace. Overall 10/10 from us! We will be back :)

I am so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us Gemma and that you loved 7 Water's Edge and Stonerush Lakes. Thank you for your suggestions for the lodge, I have passed your comments to our Guest Experience Manager to look into. We can't wait to welcome you back to visit us again in the near future! • "The cabin was lovely but there was a pile of off- cut wood and rubbish left beside this cabin."

It did not appear that any work had been done on this cabin but the rubbish was left next to parking space. Also the second bedroom we could not open the door to outside which means that there is no way the escape in a fire but also could not cool down the room. Also the dinning room chairs the legs are all loose and we were concerned they may break. Many thanks Julie

Thank you so much for leaving us your feedback. I am so sorry that you found several issues with your lodge. If I had only known about them during your stay, I would have most certainly resolved them immediately for you. Hopefully this will not deter you from returning to stay with us again in the future and thank you for still giving us a great review score. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "Surprised to be asked for feedback when Sykes didn’t bother to respond to the feedback I sent when requested on the first day of the holiday."

Lodge reasonably clean but could be better like last year. Facilities again could be better: blinds still not fixed and locks iffy (but maintenance were prompt on attending on the Sunday morning when one handle sheared off on the Saturday night). Freezer hadn’t been emptied after the previous occupants. In all, decent enough but a bit tired and in need of TLC to be anything like luxury. Hot tub still a nice touch hut a little effort on the part of the (corporate) owner and this would be a far better holiday home.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we try to schedule a refresh during the quieter times to ensure the lodge is up to the standard expected. The lodges are privately owner so will pass your comments to them. Property Owner

Hot tub was lovely plenty big enough for the four of us. This lodge is so private it was perfect, We would love to return for another holiday

Thank you for a great review we have passed across your comments to the Housekeeping Manager, we are glad you enjoyed the privacy and would return we look forward to welcoming you back Property Owner

  • "The setting was truly beautiful and very hard to beat, however the lodge was very dirty."

The dust was so thick you could write your name in it. my husband dropped his swim shorts on the floor and when we picked them up they were filthy. The toilet was stained and as for the toilet brush was disgusting! I might suggest a plastic sort next time so it doesn't rust. We were also very disappointed when we walked up to the restaurant on Tuesday, where we thought we would have a drink and order from the takeaway menu, however we were told it was only available on a Monday! Apparently it was on a sign outside the restaurant but it was NOT on the one in the lodge, which was the one that we were looking at. Our driver had had a drink by that time and we were unable to drive anywhere else and as we didn't know the takeaway menu was not an option we didn't have anything back at the lodge so we went hungry! This issue definitely needs to be addressed. We spoke Christine when we picked up the keys and were not made aware of it. The cocktail we had was rubbish too. It seemed to be very under staffed, the girl working the bar said she was the only member of staff on. It put us off so much we cancelled our reservation at the restaurant for the Wednesday and had a lovely meal out instead. There was no welcome information pack, eg things to do in the area, local taxi phone numbers, takeaway menus as you cant eat on site. We chatted to a gentleman when we took our rubbish to the communal bin and he had asked if we had seen the otter or the kingfisher. It would have been lovely to know this information so as we could have kept an eye out for them. The beds were comfortable and clean but a spare duvet or blanket would have been nice as the duvets were thin and my husband was cold. We paid a lot of money and our expectations were not met. Overall stunning location but poor cleanliness and lack of information. If these issues are rectified it would be an ideal getaway.

Thank you for leaving your feedback, we do ask people when they arrive to let us know if there are problems so we can sort at the time, we have someone available for this until 6.00pm. The opening times for the Bar, Restaurant and Reception are clearly displayed both in the outside noticeboard box and on the door when Entering the Old Mill. The menus change on a regular basis so advise people to look at our website for the latest options along with opening times. There is an information folder which contains as much as possible it details the local amenities, petrol stations, Banks ATM & Transport, Days out like the Eden Project, Adrenalin Quarry, Treasure Trails etc it is difficult to cover everybodies preferred activities. We do provide free WIFI so people can do some research on what is open at the time they are staying. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous property and had a really relaxing week which was just what we were looking for."

Located near some really great places to visit and when not feeling like that chilling out in the hot tub was perfect. If there was one grip it would be the inside glass of doors to decking not cleaned. Everything else was spotless and comfortable. Especially loved waking up to the geese, ducks and hungry carp. Kiki the dog loved the warm welcome she got at the mill restaurant and we loved the food and service.

We are glad you had a relaxing stay and were able to visit some of Cornwall's attractions, The wildlife are always an interesting part of the surroundings even whilst in the hot tub. We are glad Kiki also enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you for you great feedback. Property Owner

  • "We had a very relaxing and enjoyable four night stay at 7 Waters Edge."

The surroundings are beautiful, very peaceful and quiet with lots of wildlife around! The property was clean and tidy upon arrival and the facilities were ideal for what we required. The hot tub was perfect - clean and well maintained. We used it everyday and had no trouble with it at all, I believe the maintenance person did come to check the hot tub halfway through our stay. We did not eat at the on-site restaurant but we did have a drink there one afternoon - it’s modern and has a cozy pub feel inside with very affordable drinks prices. I would recommend buying any food shopping before arriving at the property as a large supermarket is about 40 minutes drive away. There are picturesque seaside towns about 30 minutes from the property which are lovely to explore for a couple of hours - our stay was in December so understandably they were very quiet and not everything was open. The only issue we had with our stay is the master bedroom bed was incredibly uncomfortable - you could feel the mattress springs digging in when lying down and gave both of us painful backs. On our last day when stripping the bed before leaving, we saw that the mattress was actually upside down which would explain why it was so uncomfortable, although I’m not sure why it was placed like this! It is a shame about the master bed as every other part of our stay was absolutely brilliant! Despite the uncomfortable bed we will definitely be returning to 7 Waters Edge for another relaxing break in the near future!

Lumpy and soft which was a major downside of the property. We did raise this with Sykes before going, based on another review, but nothing was done and this would stop us re-booking this property.

Great location if you want to travel into Looe or Polperro The only negative I would say is the signage could be better to help people find their lodge, on the day we arrived we had at least 5 different people turn around on our steep drive extremely close to our car which did make me nervous and could have been easily avoided with some clearer signs

Maybe worth adding to the listing: - Kitchen Towels/Oven Glove provided. - Amenity kit provided on arrival. Improvements required: - Bathroom blind does not twist open/close (no privacy - needs replacing) - Main Bedroom blind does not open/close (had to be kept permanently down for privacy which meant no morning view is the lake - needs replacing) - Requires outside light on decking for access to hot tub when dark. - Decking slippery when wet - Needs good clean (pressure wash) or decking boards with groves. • "The situation of this lodge is perfect right on the edge of the lake."

The lodge is extremely comfortable although the sofa is a bit low. The reason for the slightly low mark for facilities is..When.we reported that the blind in the main bedroom was broken. We were told by the disinterested lady on reception that that they were aware there was an issue with the blind and did we want ‘someone to look at it’. We had previously reported on arrival that the washing machine had towels inside and the door on the washing machine would not open. When we return to the lodge later that day the door had been fixed but the wet towels were still in the machine and the blind still broken! So the lodge is perfect but it is being let down but very poor facilities management and customer relations.

The blind in the main bedroom is broken and has been tied back up. On arrival the parasol was broken and on a chair, so I assume it had been noticed. There were 4 mugs and 4 glasses which is ridiculous for a property which costs this much! There should be at least 8 of each if not more, so this meant constant washing up. Raised nails on the decking - so don't go on the decking bare foot. No oven glove in the property - plenty of towels and bedding was lovely. Position of lodge is amazing - personal opinion is that this lodge was in a much better condition when Blue Chip Holidays were letting it. Not so many broken items and seemed as though it was being taken care of.

About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
