  • "On the whole, it was a lovely property and a very enjoyable week."

There were no issues until the final morning when the clean linen was just dumped at the front door and as the door opens out, it difficult to open. When we did eventually push the door open, it was too heavy for us to move. We then had to squeeze our luggage passed. Not very considerate

  • "Very nice setting where the park is , had a few issues with the cleanliness of the lodge could of down with ta deep clean."

Tried booking a table and the take away service they offered at the restaurant on the park but when asking to book either we were turned away each time , you could tell the staff were not bothered when my husband went in to the restaurant the staff were sat around and nudged each other to see who was going to get up first to speak to my husband . The day we left the staff were swearing walking past our lodge whilst we were packing up the car to leave mumbling to each other about cleaning the lodges ( what their job was to do ) such a shame as such a nice park but got the feeling the staff didn’t want to help at all

  • "We stayed at 8 Lake View."

It's a lovely lodge in a fantastic location. Hot tub was a great extra. A nice welcome pack on arrival, including Cornish milk in the fridge. The lodge was very well laid out, with a large kichen/diner/lounge. Only disappointment were the mattresses. They were basic open coil, with little support (maybe upgrade to pocket sprung?) as everything else was such high quality, these did stand out. Restaurant had a limited selection, but all of it was absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, a fab break away and we would definitely return.

Everything was top quality, incredibly clean and very comfortable. We cannot wait to come back, felt like a truly luxurious week away. Thank you

  • "The lodge was lovely but it could have been cleaner on arrival and needs some updating including the bed in the main room that the mattress needs replacing as previously raised."

The extractor fan in the en-suite was not working and the handle on the door in the twin room was wobbly. Whilst the lodge was generally clean there was still a lot of dust on the floor and stains on the counter surfaces. The lodge itself is wonderful and the hot tub was fantastic. It was suitable for a toddler too which was great but could do with some greater upkeep. To also note it was very difficult to get in contact with the Old Mill/Reception and they didn’t seem very helpful once I was able to get in touch. The restaurant menu as advertised in the lodge was not the same as when we ate there with the food being nice but very average. Whilst take away services are advertised it was not available if the restaurant has bookings which seemed odd to advertised the facility given the restaurant only opened a few nights a week. We did enjoy our stay.

  • "We have just had a fantastic week at Stonerush Lakes, the location is stunning and very peaceful and relaxing."

The lodge itself was nicely decorated and furnished with plenty of space. We were there with our young son and it felt very safe and plenty of space for him to play. Problem with our heating was very swiftly dealt with by the staff there. The hot tub was fantastic and the beautiful location surrounded by trees and hills made it even more wonderful. Would highly recommend staying!

  • "This is our 6th visit to Stonerush Lakes so we obviously love the lodges woodland setting, comfort and privacy of each of the lodges we have stayed in."

Unfortunately No 8 Lakeview had a Very uncomfortable mattress on the double bed. We both had sleepless nights and woke with backache. You could feel the springs & hear them as we moved in the bed. If the mattress was changed we would definitely book 8 Lakeview again.

The only down side is The bed is not as comfortable as I'd of hoped (that's why I marked the comfort down as everything else was great). I would highly 'recommended this property if you want a relaxing holiday and would definitely visit again.

  • "The lodge was great, everything we needed, hot tub was amazing."

We thought the food was ok in the restaurant, except the steak, which was tough and overpriced. Takeaway was overpriced, the curries were bland. The mattress on the king size bed isn't comfortable, (this was complained about in previous reviews in 2019). Not too far from Looe, Fowey and Polperro, all gorgeous places to visit. Would return.

We loved it. The only negative was that there was no water on the middle Friday. We had no notice either and it was off for over 5 hours.

  • "Just returned from a brilliant family holiday."

A lovely place to unwind and being in March was very peaceful with only a handful of people that we saw all week on the site which is very handy with 2 very excitable children (both 3 and under), but was close enough to local villages such as Looe and Fowey to have our daily trips to the beach. Loved our time there and will definitely be returning.

  • "Excellent and very spacious lodge."

Location great for easy access to Looe/Polperro area accessed via narrow steep lane. A bit scary when you meet one of the service vehicles coming the other way. Fairly isolated and wonderfully peaceful, just what we were looking for. Only one small niggle concerns the king size bed in main bedroom. The mattress needs renewing. It was also fitted with a double mattress protector which doesn’t fit the king size mattress and kept “riding up” as a result. Otherwise quality of fittings excellent and spotlessly clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Food in the Old Mill great quality and good value, very welcoming. The free WiFi worked well, which is just as well as we couldn’t get a phone signal all week (Vodafone and Virgin). Small welcome pack (tea bags etc) appreciated.

I never said at the time but the sheets on the ber were stained in places. On the 3rd night I decided to wash then myself and all the Mark's came out of them. But other than that it was a great lodge with great facilities at the lodge. We all loved the hot tub. Would recommend this place.

  • "I have lodged a formal complaint about this accommodation with the management and owners."

It has unfortunately been affected in the score I gave, not only for Sykes, as I made you aware on our first night of the problems in the automatic form that you send, and no one has been in touch to see if things were resolved which essentially means this is probably a pointless exercise that no one will read either. The score has been low with the accommodation too as I’m awaiting a response to my complaint.

  • "The lodge is absolutely wonderful, spacious, clean and very comfortable."

Site is lovely and secluded with great views. No phone signal at all but our lodge had good WiFi connection. Hot tub was fab! Food was great in Old Mill. Only negative would be how we were made to feel upon arrival. On all Sykes paperwork it says 3pm but the site say 4pm. We arrived about 2.30, went to reception thinking we could have a drink whilst waiting. The reception we got wasn’t great - we were told we were very early, check in was 4pm - when I explained the email said 3pm - she just said ‘well it’s wrong, it’s 4pm!’ Also, I had booked a table in the restaurant for the first evening - it had taken me three emails beforehand but had received one back saying we were booked in! The receptionist checked and said we weren’t booked in - I showed her the email, she looked again and said we had been booked in the following night but she would try and move the booking. There was no apology that it was their error, we felt like we were at fault! As it happened, the lodge was ready for us to go in straightway - it was beautiful. The meal in The Old Mill was fabulous and drinks reasonably priced - would definitely recommend it! Reception just needed to be bit warmer!

  • "We stayed in lake view 8 at stone rush valley."

Firstly, if you simply type in the postcode in Sat nav, it will take you to a wrong place. So advice is to watch out for signs that show stone rush valley. It wasn't actually clear during the booking process that lake view 8 is part of stone rush valley so this could be made clearer on the website. Once arrived, the reception was welcoming but not much info was given. Most of the info is within the folder in the lodge. The lodge itself was amazing, everything was near brand new and clean. The grounds it was situated in was picturesque and very quiet. The only reason I didn't give full marks was due to tiny areas where it could be improved. For the amount of money, it would be good to have more than a single toilet roll for each toilet and one single bin bag. A larger drying rack could help as it meant we could only wash limited amount of stuff every wash due to the rain so we couldn't improvise with the patio chairs/table etc. The biggest issue was probably the main bedrooms bed. It was a bit lumpy and can feel the springs. It wasn't the worse bed I've slept on but was a bit uncomfortable. The other main issue was the fact that there were no mobile reception for three different networks and therefore the contact details for help and maintenance issue (which we had) was very difficult to get hold of. Luckily one number was a mobile and ended up whatsapping a guy which seemed unprofessional. A landline or some concierge landline would be very useful. The final criticism is the restaurant, the food itself was fine but the menu in the welcome pack was out of date and showed lovely flavour ice creams but was informed during the meal that there's no ice cream and other things were also missing which we were looking forward to. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, the grounds were lovely, the hot tub was nice and private. The lodge and it's facilities were good and would definitely recommend.

About the location

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
