The lodge was amazing and we truly enjoyed the hot tub and the wood burner! We even had a squirrel coming to visit us each morning on the deck, super cute.

This property could do with a little updating on some of the woodwork but was clean, tidy and comfortable. Everything was working and we really enjoyed our stay. We particularly liked the covered hot tub at this property which protected us from heavy rain (Storm Ciaran!) in October.

I am so pleased to hear that you managed to have a lovely, relaxing stay with us. I can only imagine the lodge was even more comforting for you during the storm which you experienced whilst staying. We really do hope we can welcome you back to stay with us again soon! • "The setting of this lodge is perfect - to the rear, you feel like you're in a forest and the steam running below provides some tranquility."

The lodge was spacious, light and very clean and the sheltered hot tub was a huge bonus when there was the occasional shower. The site is very quiet and it's fine for kids who are easily entertained but there is no play area so look elsewhere if that is a must for you. The Old Mill restaurant onsite serves great food and the staff are great - special thanks to Amanda. The park staff were amazing - we had some significant car problems during our stay and nothing was too much bother when it came to offering assistance, support or just a listening ear. Laney and the team are a credit to the park. Our holiday was unfortunately cut short because of the car, but we've booked at the sister Southern Holt site for Easter 2024 and have no hesitation in recommending Stonerush Lakes.

Thank you so much for leaving us your thoughts and experiences of your stay at 9 Stonerush Valley, Dan. It is so lovely to hear how much you enjoyed your peaceful holiday and the beautiful surroundings. We look forward to welcoming you back this Easter. Sally, Guest Service, Charteroak Property Owner

!! We could not fault the property, was the perfect break, just what we needed, everything you feel that you needed was all available in the lodge. Even a pint of milk and a few tea/coffes etc which i thought was a nice touch. Perfect location out of the hustle and bustle of the towns but only a short driving distance to the towns.

The staff were amazing, it was our daughter’s 21st birthday whilst we were there and they left balloons and a bottle of bubbly for her!! Very unexpected. • "Not “luxury”."

Cleanliness was not at a good standard at all and some maintenance needed doing. All floor boards creek, mould & limescale in shower, wardrobe smells musty, main bathroom sink plug does not work and water in bath does not get to a good temperature. Such a shame as it was our first family holiday and we had to clean it.

Thank you for leaving us your thoughts Helen, guest feedback is invaluable to us and we really appreciate it. I am so sorry for the standard of cleanliness at your lodge and also the issues with maintenance. This is obviously not something we would wish our guests to experience and I can only sincerely apologise that you had to deal with these problems. These have been rectified and everything checked to ensure a luxury stay. As new owners of Charteroak, we are working towards bringing our resorts to a high standard where our guests wish to return time and time again, but obviously on this occasion we have let you down. I hope you will come back again to visit us in the near future to see all the improvements we are making . Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our first stay when this site was under the previous owners and were looking forward to returning; especially as we had not managed to take a break for some 7 years."

The first cabin we stayed in had a lovely position but was extremely dated with items damaged and scratched; it was also fairly dirty all over, with sinks and showers blocked too. We were making the best and ignoring the down points; we run a wildlife rescue centre so spent most of our time enjoying the wildlife. On our one and only day out, we received a call asking us to return to the cabin and move all our belongings to another cabin as there was a leaking pipe under the cabin. We didn't really want to cut our day short, have to repack or move cabins and since the leak had been found just after midday, we asked if it could be repaired. They insisted we move and that it could not attempt a repair; funny it was fixed the next morning. Obviously things happen and items break, but their approach was that they'd given us another cabin and everything was fine, don't worry, it was only a holiday we'd been waiting for, for a very long time. There was an offer of some type of refund, but after move we had no replies from them and to date, no reply or recompense. Here's a tip, we were a customer and you are not doing us a favour. I may have glossed over it if your attitude hadn't been so poor, hence I took the time to write this.

Hello Rick, We are very sorry that you experienced some issues during your stay with us here at Stonerush Lakes, the team would not wish for any guest to have any problems during their stay and we are working very hard on making as many improvements as we can on our resorts and within our accommodation. It was a very unfortunate situation which happened with the leak on the first lodge which you had booked, causing water to continuously rush from the bottom and the water to the lodge had to be turned off and isolated. The leak was repaired the following day. Under normal circumstances you should have received a further call the following day to ask if you would like to move back into your chosen lodge, so I wholeheartedly apologise to you for this call and offer not happening and this is a fault from our side. We do however, hope that you enjoyed the lodge which you spent the rest of your holiday in. We have spoken with our cleaning company and with the owner of the lodge, as they have also spent time carrying out various maintenance jobs. I would like to assure you that we take our feedback extremely seriously and will always act upon any works or improvements which are needed, including the service which we offer. I do hope that you will make the decision to return again. Our deepest apologies again Rick, Kindest regards, The Team at Charteroak, Stonerush Lakes Property Owner

Well equipped kitchen, really comfy sofas and comfy beds. Few tiny issues. The skylight in the master bedroom has no blind and so that room gets very bright very early. Coupled with the blinds on the doors it wasn’t great for a holiday lie-in! Sadly we had issues with the hot tub, jets not very powerful, reported and told nothing could be done. After a powercut it then just had one super powerful jet, the next pool maintenance chap said it all needed replacing. Lastly the rug in the lounge needs a really good clean, not just a hoover over it. We did enjoy our stay here despite these things. Very tranquil, a well situated base for visiting cornea for some much needed rest and relaxation.

Glad you enjoyed your stay overall, and thank you for your feedback. The issues you raised have now been addressed Property Owner

The lodge was well equipped and clean, looking at the previous reviews I’d been expecting it not to be but it was fine- I think certain elements of the property just need a litttle bit of an update. Communication wasn’t great- half way through our stay we started to hear a scratching noise in the kitchen partition wall - we think maybe a small animal had got stuck? Every time it scratched our dogs barked which woke up our baby. As it was New Year’s Eve I emailed charteroak but never heard anything back. Eventually it stopped. Overall though a lovely stay in a private and well equipped lodge and would definitely recommend.

Unfortunately we were told the morning of check in that the hot tub wasnt working so we were obviously dissapointed & upset. We were offered an alternative lodge but would mean we would have to check out a day earlier & the location wasnt as good. We decided to stay in no 9 & were told the hot tub would be fixed ASAP. It was finally fixed on the Tuesday - 4 days into our stay. The contractors didnt knock to say they were coming (we had our dog with us) & when i went out to talk to them they were rude & sarcastic to me - wasn't impressed & then they said it would take 2 hours to fix! We decided to pop out to get some more logs for the fire (as none were left for us on arrival) & when we came back, we couldnt park as they had moved their vans onto the drive. Other than that we had a great stay & Karina (duty Manager at park) was absolutly fantastic & so helpful. The lodge is desperatly need of a deep clean & updating - walls were dirty, radiators rusty, damp in bathroom & kitchen mouldy & wood rotting - so hopefully those things will be sorted in time for our (hopeful) stay next year.

In addition the location was very difficult to get too with very narrow single track roads and if we used anything other than google maps led us down an additional 3.5 miles of dangerous farm tracks. The hot tub was fab after a day of walking around (someone comes to check the hot tub everyday or every other day to do chemicals and clean) and the decking was secure for our 4 legged babies. Inside the lodge was great aswell, beds were comfy, shower was strong, kitchen was nice but probably could have done with a new frying pan and some extra glasses. The lounge was lovely with the most comfy sofas and great little wood burner. main TV equipped with netflix, amazon prime, Spotify etc (just need to remember to sign out). The site itself was beautiful, well maintained and some lovely walking trails. We ate in the pub once - it was a lovely atmosphere however the food wasn't great, which is a shame as we were expecting to eat there most nights. Also its a great base camp for exploring Cornwall, not to far away from places. Overall will definitely be returning!!

About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
