  • "A little late sharing our feedback but we feel we must!"

We were a family group of 5 adults and had a fantastic time, despite the patchy weather - which was a great excuse to learn how to cook on an AGA! (The kitchen is really well stocked and even the knives were sharp - not something you often find in a holiday home!) Oyster Bay is definitely a family home with gorgeous photo’s of the family and occasional drawings dotted about the place. It had a really lovely atmosphere! The decor was fresh and up to date, and was very tasteful. We had plenty of room for us five, even sitting by the picture windows looking out to sea, reading our books, or sat at the kitchen table playing board games! We did have a couple of beautiful days weather - we’ve been to Port Isaac many times before and love the outdoors, and this time was particularly great with the Annual Sea Shanty festival taking place whilst we were there. If thinking of visiting, do try Oyster Bay, you won’t regret it!

What a wonderful write-up to read, thank you so very much. I am just thrilled you had such a good time and enjoyed the special Oyster Bay atmosphere and how clever of you to coincide with the Sea Shanty Festival. Please come to stay again soon! Property Owner

Amazing views and location. Would definitely recommend a stay. Port Isaac is beautiful and it was a great base. We even spotted dolphins in the bay from the house! The only feedback we had was cereal bowls - we couldn’t find any! Everything else was fantastic :)

  • "We stayed at Oyster Bay over Xmas."

9 adults and 2 children. We arrived in the dark but the house was warm and welcoming. A nice touch was the bottle of Oyster Bay bubbly! The house was very clean and the kitchen had all the utensils and china you could possibly want. It even has 3 fridges which were all needed to stock our Xmas food and drink. The next morning we woke to see the most amazing view from the lounge/diner. We had very good communication with the owner and the company who clean the house. The only problem we encountered was the parking as we had 3 cars and there was only room for 2. At Xmas this was not a problem but in the summer it may be. The house is at the top of the hill and it is a very steep walk into Port Isaac so it is not so good for the old and anyone with walking difficulties. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house, hopefully we will return one day.

  • "It was all very very good we loved it and everyone said how comfortable the beds were !"

! We were 5 couples in the winter, the only thing we would change possibly, although I do not think it would an issue at all in the summer or with children was easy seating, we tended to all come home at night and fight (not literally) over the comfy chairs, but saying that, we could not configure another way to do it. That is only us being really picky and the only thing we could comment on, it was overall fabulous and extremely well equipped, spacious so easy to keep clean, superb location and yes, will hopefully book it and come back again next year.

We have stayed in Port Isaac many times over the last 20 years and will never tire of the views and the view from the lounge and main bedroom were just stunning! Perhaps the only downside was that there wasn't enough 'comfy' seating for everyone to enjoy the views but this would not stop us from booking again.

From the minute you walk in the door the incredible view hits you - we just stood and stared!! I have never had a better view in any house I've stayed - the front bedroom with its balcony is just a joy. Everything you are going to need is in this house - the best range of kitchen equipment you can imagine - I would highly recommend this holiday home and can only hope to stay in Oyster Bay again in the very near future.

I'm so glad you had a lovely stay and particularly that you enjoyed the master bedroom balcony - it's a good spot for doing not very much at all but staring out to sea, isn't it?! I love my cooking especially with all the fresh seafood about, so, yes the kitchen is pretty well-equipped and there is nothing worse than turning up to a rental house and find three mugs and two wine glasses for a large gathering, so I hope we've covered that too! Thanks for coming, book again! All best ,Juliet Property Owner

  • "We have been with Sykes many times."

Oyster Bay was comfortable and a good base to see port Isaac and surrounding areas. We thought it was a detached property and were staying in the main bedroom( there were just 2 of us). However we think the owners next door stayed with their children in the room next to ours connecting. We were woken up at 5.30 for a couple of mornings and consequently had to move rooms.Fortunately we had many to choose from.Be aware to of the housekeeping money of 400 (you must request it back) we didn't realise and after a week no-one reminded us.!!!!!!However the house is good for a large family Perhaps we should have read all the details more carefully and we therefore would definitely do that in future. All things considered we would recommend Oyster Bay for a large family wishing to stay in Cornwall.

Yes, as it is a semi-detached property we did put soundproofing in when doing up the house, but we too are hoping that the new owners next door may do some as well!!! I'm glad you had a good holiday nevertheless. It's not really that one has to request the return of the housekeeping bond (which we had to introduce after the house was once left in the most terrible state), so much that I can't return the bond until I am in receipt of the guest's bank details, as requested in my welcome email (the one sent in advance of the holiday which includes all the instructions on how to get in to the house etc). The property

Oyster Bay is a beautifully-decorated semi-detached property, superbly located for enjoying the stunning and rugged north coast of Cornwall.

The property is situated at the end of a quiet lane in the iconic village of Port Isaac, the famous home of ‘Doc Martin’ As you enter the property you are welcomed into the spacious open-plan living and dining room, with full-width picture windows giving spectacular views over the sea to Tintagel Head, and a dining table seating up to 12.

Immediately you are drawn to the spectacular far-reaching sea views, something you will never tire of.

Comfortable chairs are arranged to make the most of those views and encourage lots of card-playing and newspaper-reading!

While the host owners wish you wonderful weather so that your holiday is spent on one of the many stunning beaches within a short drive, they have also striven to make Oyster Bay a wonderful holiday house where you can relax and unwind in comfort whatever the weather.

This room beams character as a wood-burning stove warms the space, perfect for winter evenings or after a brisk walk along the coast.

Adjacent is the well-equipped kitchen (with electric Aga) while a utility room provides all the necessities required for your stay, including additional towel rails for drying out wet weather and surfing/swimming gear.

Finishing the ground floor is a further TV sitting room, boasting a wood-burner for anyone wishing to relax in peace, but also a desk space for those needing to check-in - the WiFi is very good.

Located on the first floor are the five elegantly decorated bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Here, you will find a spectacular master bedroom with a super king-size bed with a free-standing bath situated next to the picture window, perfect for enjoying a relaxing soak looking out to sea or up at the stars, in addition to an en-suite shower room.

The balcony off the master bedroom is the perfect spot to make a plan for the day, enjoying the view over a cup of coffee.

The principal guest bedroom has a king-size bed and is also en-suite, whilst the family bathroom is shared between another king-size double (which can be arranged as two single beds if preferred), a twin bedroom and the adult-size bunk bedroom, which also has sea views.

For couples wanting complete privacy there is a cleverly designed cabin in the rear garden, complete with a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom.

Outside, guests will have a front and rear garden area, each finished with comfortable furniture, allowing you to enjoy the sun whatever the time of day.

With the village centre a gentle stroll away, you have a large selection of pubs and shops at your fingertips (the local Co-op does the best croissants and Nicky B’s pasties are second to none; the Golden Lion in Port Isaac is the destination for after winter walks, great ale, big plates of hearty food, while Port Gaverne Hotel and Pilchards Café in Port Gaverne is perfect for sundowners).

For special occasions (book months ahead to avoid disappointment) there is the Michelin-starred Outlaw’s.

Only slightly easier to get in to is his original small-plates restaurant down near the Plaistow in Port Isaac.

Within 10 minutes you will also locate sandy beaches from family friendly Daymer Bay to surf-spectacular Trebarwith Strand, and, of course, there are exhilarating coastal paths - everything you need for a memorable holiday in Cornwall!

Other activities within Port Isaac include, taking a photo outside Doc Martin’s home, which is a short walk up Roscarrock Hill, or journey on a wildlife-spotting or mackerel-fishing boat trip from the harbour during the summer season..

Port Gaverne is home to sea-kayaking and coasteering days out courtesy Ben at Cornish Rock Tors.

Oyster Cottage is a truly special house in a great location to be enjoyed all-year-round.
