  • "We loved staying at The Porthole - the property was very comfortable and we loved the views."

The design of the Property was great, furniture good quality and everything there needed. The rear entrance wooden steps are very dangerous , the house was clean with the exception of the windows that were filthy and there were cobwebs . We had a problem with both the freezer and fridge being iced up , but once I had eventually spoken to Sykes they provided us with a temporary fridge/ freezer . This resolved the problem for us , both the fridge and freezer need defrosting. We had a lovely stay here and would recommend

  • "Some of the steps down to the rear driveway are loose and sloping and my husband slipped on them during our stay , they need to be fixed and maintained to ensure no one else falls down."

It was difficult to use the hair dryer in the bedrooms as the only plug socket in the back bedroom was by the wardrobe and is too far away from the mirror.

Thank you for your feedback, this has been shared with the owner and we are now attending to fix the steps. We hope that you otherwise enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Only one issue, the shower door needs to be looked at as it will not stay in place and you spend your shower moving it out of your way!

We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the property and are sorry that you experienced issues with the shower door, your comments will be raised to our maintenance team. • "Just had a wonderful holiday in Port Isaac at the Porthole cottage."

Two things I’d like to mention. There is a parking space at the front of the property that is extremely small. I am an experienced and confident driver and my hire car was a small Citroen C3 but for 95% of my stay it was impossible to park in it due to residents in the houses opposite who have no parking thus they need to park their cars on the street. This left the Porthole space inaccessible. We used the space at the back of the property with no issues. I feel this should be advertised as small car space with limited access. Also there was not one electrical socket in the house that was near a mirror for me to use styling my hair, this would have been very useful. Otherwise the house is amazing, spacious and clean with stunning views. John Bray were efficient and informative and I’d certainly use them again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at The Porthole. We do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back to Cornwall in the future. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The steps leading down to the parking area at the back of the property are extremely slippery & my husband (67) slipped on them twice during our stay."

Perhaps some kind of non-slip surface could be applied? Otherwise our stay was very good. Second time here & would come back again.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay at The Porthole and had the perfect base to explore the north Cornish coastline from! • "It was a great property which was comfortable and had great views."

It was clean and spacious. Good location, great to go swimming in the bay or pop to the Coop. We enjoyed the conservatory very much. It was bigger than we had expected and was of a decent standard. However small niggles were: there were lots of dvds but no DVD player. The beds had no fitted sheets just a flat sheet, which after a nights sleep often meant we woke with our face on the mattress. A mattress cover and a fitted sheet would be much more beneficial and comfortable. A barbecue would also be beneficial. Generally it’s a great property and I would be happy to stay again but you might want to take a couple of fitted sheets with you and a DVD player if you want to watch movies.

The photos and description don't do it justice far bigger downstairs than we anticipated no photo or mention of the much bigger and better 2nd parking space behind the property we absolutely loved the cottage and didn't feel like we'd been ripped off as the price was just right looked at other similar properties and they were just too expensive Would definitely go back and have been recommending to family and friends And what fantastic views to Tintagel

The property

Renovated to an excellent standard throughout, The Porthole offers delightful coastal themed terraced accommodation in an elevated position in Port Isaac.

Whilst the property is spacious, tastefully decorated and boasts a wonderful conservatory, the real highlight of The Porthole is the breath taking views out to sea, and over the coastline towards Tintagel.

Enter through the handy porch into an open-plan kitchen and dining room, complete with a woodburner to make enjoyable family suppers even cosier in the winter months.

The separate sitting room is very comfortable and also has a woodburner and stripped wooden flooring throughout, whilst the conservatory is a fabulous spot for enjoying the sea views whatever the weather.

On the first floor is a family bathroom and three superbly furnished bedrooms, sleeping five people – two double bedrooms, one with spectacular coastal views, and one single bedroom also with impressive ocean views.

Open up the conservatory doors onto a decked furnished terrace area, a great spot for a glass of something chilled whilst gazing out over the seascape before you.

The property also has parking for two cars.

Walk five minutes from The Porthole and you will find yourself at Port Isaac harbour.

Famed as the fictional village of ‘Port Wenn’ in the long running TV series Doc Martin, this fishing village is picturesque and interesting in equal measure.

Visit the numerous shops, cafés and restaurants, where you can sample fresh fish caught off the North Cornwall coastline.

Or, visit one of the many nearby coves for sand castle building, rockpooling and water sport opportunities galore.

Head a little further, and after just 40 minutes in the car you will find yourself in the surfing paradise of Newquay.

The Porthole, with its multiple woodburners, conservatory and outside area truly is a desirable year-round holiday home – the perfect base from which to enjoy Port Isaac, whatever the season.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. There is ample parking at the top of the village and the village is a popular tourist destination with plenty of attractions including the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay and the famous Doc Martin's clinic. There are also plenty of pubs, restaurants, and shops in the village. Just a short drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike.
