“Good service from Sykes in relation to booking, however property description requires updating in view of no DVD player.”

It would also benefit from noting that there is considerable traffic noise from the adjacent country lane. Unfortunately any positive feedback ends there as despite assurances that the property would be deep cleaned as per COVID regulations this had evidently not been done & nor had a recent standard clean as the kitchen especially was in an unacceptable state. We had to clean the fridge on arrival as it was so dirty & the remainder of the kitchen & all the crockery, cutlery & glasses before they could be used. Although initially we had a prompt response from Cornish Cottage Holidays, the promised deep clean the following day did not occur & we had no further communications. A lovely property despite being a bit shabby around the edges, but the above issues unfortunately spoilt our holiday & we are disappointed with the poor customer service from Sykes.

The property

Set within easy reach of the Eden Project and South Cornwall's famous harbour towns and villages, is this quirky, but stylish former mine captains house.

Spacious both inside and out, the house has a wonderful kitchen/dining space separated from the pretty garden and deck by folding glass doors.

On the ground floor, there is a sitting room with a smart TV, a comfortable snug for grown ups to retreat to, followed by the bright and social kitchen with dining space.

A useful utility and downstairs wet room and loo are tucked away to the rear.

Upstairs, there are three decadent bedrooms with two having fabulous en-suite bathrooms and the third being a sizeable twin.

All in all, a superb family homestay with plenty of character and a fabulous feeling of light and space.

About the location

ST BLAZEY

Eden Project 1 mile; Charlestown 3 miles; St Austell 3 miles.

St Blazey is a small town situated three miles east of St Austell and was formerly an important engineering centre for the local mining and railway industries. The town is nowadays best known for being the closest to the Eden Project. Nearby Charlestown is a delightful and much sought after coastal village of stone cottages and regency houses. It is famous for its collection of tall ships riding at anchor in the harbour, the shipwreck museum, excellent pubs and restaurants and easy access to the coastal path. The old market town of St. Austell lies just a few miles from the south coast, and is famous for its China Clay mining history. Today, home to numerous beaches, (including dog-friendly Par Sands) and sub tropical gardens, it is a popular place for tourists, with plenty to see and do. A short drive will take you to fashionable Fowey or the fishing port of Mevagissey, and with lots to do, this is a great year round location.
