  • "Highly Recommend."

We visit Cornwall every year and stay at the same place. This year we decided to visit for a second time but our usual place was full. We know the area so decided to stay at Foxes. It’s a lovely, clean and comfortable place and the main bedroom is fantastic. The area is lovely and quiet and all you can hear is nature. WiFi was ok, but couldn’t get it very well in the two smaller bedrooms, but not a big issue. The cottage was lovely and warm, and if you’re a ‘cold’ person there are plenty of additional heaters to use. Not having constant hot water is my only gripe. Having to wait an hour to boost the water tank heating in the evening is ok, but not ideal in the morning. Having said that, I would definitely visit again if our usual place is full, and I will certainly recommend Foxes as a lovely place to stay.

  • "We loved Foxe’s unpretentious charm and comfort."

The peace and quiet of its tucked away location was lovely but provided easy access to both south and north coasts. The property had everything we needed and helpful information in an entertaining, really nicely written pack. The owners’ daughter’s wedding was on the day we left and we hope that they had a wonderful day. PS the tracks to the property are nowhere near as bad as some on line feedback makes out but may not suit Ferrari owners!!!!!

Double bed very comfortable. Wendy was attentive and approachable. Plenty of Wildlife around the cottage with CWT largest reserve down the lane. There are plans for beavers (they may already be there) in the future. There was a problem with the shower. Reported this to owner and they promptly worked to sort the problem. This took a couple of days, but we were kept informed. Excellent service. We hope to visit again in the future.

Getting to the property was a nightmare. In the middle of nowhere and the track to get to the property was overgrown and if you met another vehicle there was know room to pass so you would have to reverse about a mile.

  • "Very nice, comfortable, warm, spacious and peaceful accommodation; well-equipped kitchen with nothing obvious lacking; large fridge/freezer; masses of storage space in the huge bedroom; comfortable bed; good to have 2 TVs (the lounge one with DVD/CD player); WiFi works well; shower is hot and consistent."

The only minor issue was the light bedroom curtains causing me to wake very early. The location is quite remote and, as the farm is at the end of a track, walking options are somewhat limited. Lanhydrock (National Trust) is an easy walk and a beautiful place to visit. We had Sunday lunch at the Lanivet Inn - good food but poor service and the wine was over-priced. All in all a very pleasant, relaxing week.

We were worried about the road up to the farm but our Honda jazz had no problem. In fact the road surface was better than most roads in Kent! An ideal location for visiting both north and south coasts of Devon. There was no direct access to Helman Tor from the farm but you will be impressed by the Tor if you visit.

  • "Beautiful cottage, as described."

Very clean. The area is exposed to wind due to its location. We probably experienced it more that last week of July. There is a smell of damp and the upstairs' bedroom floors are creaky but that didn't bother us. We ended up not using the downstairs shower as there was just a trickle of water and the temperature was difficult to control. This was explained in the user manual on arrival. Bath only would probably have been fine. The upstairs shower worked well. Tap water was delicious and the WiFi was OK. Green area in front of the 4 cottages with some picnic tables but not one for each cottage and not directly in front of Foxes. This is just to give more information as, despite the above, it is a lovely place.

  • "We stayed at Foxes for a week at the end of July."

It is a beautiful location with the Helman Tor behind the property. Thanks to the instructions, the property was easy to find but is definitely off the beaten track. The water from the borehole was delicious to drink unlike some of the water in the UK. There was a washing machine in Foxes and the washing dried nicely on the rotary dryer in the car park. Our teenage daughters each had their own room which was the reason we chose Foxes. The upstairs room where we were was comfortable though the floorboards were very creaky. It was a good location to visit Cornwall. All in all a comfortable property in a lovely location.

Beautiful location. Very much off the beaten track. Central to Cornwall so easy to visit the whole county. Amazing wildlife and complete peace. We had some lovely quiet neighbours. Probably more suited to couples or those with older kids. Owners were lovely and were available if we needed them but left us alone.

Inside the cottage was beautiful and huge. Everything we needed was there. Towels, beautifully soft bedding, tea and coffee on arrival, peace and quiet, stunning views, rabbits, birds and owls coming to visit, what more could we ask for. Helman Tor is well worth a visit too which is not too far from the cottage. You can walk but there is a car park which takes you 75% of the way if you have difficulty walking long distances. There was just one small negative thing I will say though. The upstairs mattress on the four poster bed was quite lumpy and a little uncomfortable but other than that it was perfect.

If I were to make any comment it would be the mattress in the annexe upstairs, my husband will and can sleep anywhere but I can't, it was comfy in the main however as it has been used quite a few times it seems, there are "body" indentations on each side so found when trying to turn over I was just rolling back into a pit in the mattress which I found woke me up quite a lot. It is a minor point in the grand scheme of things as I really enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend and visit again.

The extra directions provided were essential and very welcome. This place is remote and all the better for it, but a Sat Nav won't find it. TV reception is a bit weak. Upstairs bedroom is enormous. Front door is not very high, make sure you duck! If you want a quiet location you won't beat this, but nearest village a 5-10 minute drive.
