"The cottage was very comfortable, including the mattresses, as this is important to me as I suffer with back issues, and the cottage itself was very quirky, highly decorative, which we knew."
However, we felt the emphasis was on the decor and not on amenities. There was only the one bin in the kitchen and nowhere to hang/dry towels. We felt the cottage would benefit from some soft lighting for asthetics, ie. wall lights, standard lamp, including the bedrooms, and a coffee table in the sitting room. I would like to say the owner dealt very quickly with a couple of issues, so thank you.

Our party enjoyed the quiet location and hours of fun were had in the swimming pool. It was a great location close to many beaches, harbours and places of interest. I want to be clear that my low mark is in no way a reflection of the property or host/owner. My issue is that a Sykes representative invented an answer when responding to a question I had, pretending to have spoken to the property owner.

"Tranquil, serene, quirky and with pretty much a a private pool - a whole lotta fun as well!"
Owners Oliver and Carla (with Mia, Madeline and Frenchy the dog too) were super welcoming and amenable, our little dog loved it and enjoyed roaming the best nature has to offer in the gorgeous surrounding grounds. Beautiful beaches and all amenities needed within a short drive too! Our teenage girls were very impressed with the internal decor, as much as we were with the outdoor gardens, BBQ area and assorted seats available to escape to. So pleased we discovered this gem of a getaway and can’t wait to return. Duck’s Crossing gets a 5star rating from us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Occupying a quiet private location yet just a short walk from the amenities of Trewoon, is Tye Farm. This pretty group of cottages, embracing strong colours, bright prints and the owners’ flair for design have been furnished to a good standard throughout providing welcoming accommodation. You're welcome to explore the 4.8 surrounding acres of natural grounds and woodlands, as well as to enjoy the ornamental ponds and gardens. A fabulous heated swimming pool (available May half term to end Sept) with a sunny terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy a fun filled afternoon. These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests. Trewoon is on the western fringes of St Austell, where you'll find a town centre with both independent and well-known shops, a state of the art cinema and a Local Produce Market that takes place every Friday and Saturday. There is also a collection of restaurants, cafes and inns, from traditional country pubs to fine dining in the immediate area. The iconic Eden Project, award-winning Lost Gardens of Heligan, Shipwreck museum at Charlestown, and ancient fishing harbour at Mevagissey are all within a very short drive. The old market town of St Austell, just a mile or two from the south coast, is famous as the historic centre of the china clay mining industry. Today, its many beaches and its sub-tropical gardens provide plenty to see and do. The wonderful Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are perfect for a family day out, and a little further afield Caerhays Castle provides a stunning backdrop to Porthluny Cove. On the edge of town, St Austell Brewery offers tours of the Victorian brewing equipment and a chance to sample the local beer, and for those looking for surf and sand, St Austell Bay has several beaches to choose from - Porthpean, Carlyon Bay, Pentewan, Polkerris - the last offering a variety of water-sports. As well as a small shingle beach, Charlestown, a pretty, historic port, often has wooden sailing ships in the harbour, and is popular as a film location. A little further afield are Fowey and its beautiful estuary to the east and the fishing port of Mevagissey to the west. With lots to do and something to keep the whole family entertained, St Austell is a great year-round destination.
