  • "The property was in a lovely location central to everything."

It was a lovely property with all home comforts. We all loved the property including the dogs. The only issue was the facilities and maintenance team need to leave instructions on disposing of rubbish the signs were inaccurate and being Christmas week there was lots of rubbish and no collection on Tuesday as advised . There were no bins for the rubbish so we had to leave them in black bin bags at the property. No dog waste bins either. The toilet seat was broken . Apart from that it was a lovely week at the property would definitely book again .

Thank you for your feedback, the toilet seat has been repaired and I do apologise if the bin collection was delayed over the Christmas period. We do leave information at the property about the bins and collection days and I will check this information when I visit the property shortly. Property Owner

  • "On arrival the house was very cold with no heating on."

Additionally the house was filthy and smelt appalling.Nothing had been hoovered the stair carpet in particular looks like it's never seen a hoover. The smell turned out to be all the downstairs hard floors had been mopped using a filthy mop that smelt of stale urine and has long seen better days. There we're filthy crockery in cupboards and as for the cutlery what can I say truly horrendous..u Upstairs was no better the bathroom has toilet seat that doesn't stay up or even fit and the grouting on the floor is filthy the sink doesn't hold any water.in the bedrooms things are no better very old poor quality mattresses in each room covered by toppers that don't fit.also why would you put double bed size bedding on king size bed? On our first night we went out and bought replacement bedding crockery and cutlery.Additionally the thermostats on most of the radiators don't work so you either cooked or froze the heating in the front bedroom room does not work at all.The blind in the twin room is broken Outside the garden is not dog proof with fencing being down in several places You also have to put out other people's rubbish which considering there is only one small bin is unpleasant Overall if I could leave zero stars I would. It appears as long as it's being booked the owners don't care about guests holidays or even there own property. All this points have been left by previous guests either in visitor book or online so please please do something about it before you ruin more people's holidays.please note that we booked this in 2019 and then had to change because COVID lock downs etc so at time booking we're unaware of poor previous reviews

I had a little difficulty with the oven as instructions have faded but we used the microwave and grill section instead which did the job for basic meals.

  • "Not as clean as could be."

Cobwebs in all upstairs windows. Carpet on staircase dusty and dirty. Lots of dead bugs and flies in bathroom. Lots of maintenance problems. Leaking kitchen sink and water coming into utility room ceiling between the join to the house near the light switch. Smoke detector batteries failing and constant bleeps. Bathroom sink plug not working. Chairs and sofas worn and sagging. Beds, even with mattress toppers, worn and sagging. Pillows worn out and no support. Quilts and covers wrong sizes. Cannot regulate heating as radiator thermostats not working. Lots of other niggles. Otherwise it was well equipped. In need of maintenance, good clean and a bit of TLC!

Hi There, We had the property inspected following your visit and they found no issues. We wishged you would have contacted us during your stay, as we would have got someone there straight away to rectify. We could not locate any problems bar a few cobwebs which have now been removed. The property is regularly cleaned but as we live only 10 minutes walk from the beach, sometimes flies can make their way in if a window is left open for too long, apologies, we will see what we can do to improve this for future guests. Following your visit we also had an electrician attend to check the entire property and the ceiling in the utility room. There is no sign of any leak and the switch is working fine. The roof is new, there was a leak once but was repaired two years ago. So it might have been mentioned in the visitors book then. The battery in the smoke alarm has been changed and that is now working, again is this was reported to us at the time we would have attended immediately. The radiator thermostats get checked yearly and passed when we had this checked 3 months prior to your booking. In regards to the bedding, we do provide additional quilts for guest to use, sorry these weren't to your liking. We hope you still managed to enjoy your time away, we are working with our maintenance team on the issues you have highlighted and there shouldn't be any further issues. Kind regards Property Owner

It was very dated and there was lots of things in the kitchen cupboards so there was little place to put anything. There were spiders and cobwebs all around the house even after the cleaners had been,I would not book this again and I could not recommend it to anyone very disappointed it spoilt our holiday

The shower in the bathroom is a bit tight, but I am 6’5’’. We would happily return.

  • "Lovely house although a bit dated , beds were comfy and nice bedding."

We did have a few visits from the lovely Alfie the dog from the garden behind the house he was very friendly with us and my dog. It’s possible when deposits have been found in the garden that is was the lovely Alfie and not the dogs staying there. Great location but quite a steep walk back from the beach , especially after a couple of gins.

  • "Cream teas and milk in the fridge on arrival was great and the property was clean, but is very tired and dated."

It has the potential to be amazing but it feels like you are living back in the 1980’s. Every cupboard in the kitchen is absolutely full of ‘stuff’ meaning there is nowhere for you to put food or anything you brought with you. The TV only worked sporadically as it has a loose connection and the shower was disappointing and the front door only stays closed if you lock it! We were aware there was no downstairs WC, but it was more of an issue than we expected as we took elderly family with us- the utility room is a huge waste of space - plenty of room to incorporate a downstairs WC- but as I’ve already said- the house needs money spending on it. The garden is a positive, getting the sun for most of the day. We also had telecom workman digging holes in the road for two days, blocking the driveway and starting work at 7.30am - it would have been good to be warned! The property is in a great location, but a bit basic - so sadly not for us.

Many thanks for your feedback following your stay at Phenests. Customer feedback is incredibly important to help us continually improve our standards. We are sorry to hear that the property was not to your taste, however we are pleased to advise that the Property Owner has received your feedback and we have discussed the areas you have highlighted. The Owner was not aware of any works taking place near to the property, so we were unable to inform you of this prior to your reservation. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused. • "Kitchen rags and rubbish bin bags are not provided."

Toilet rolls provided are not enough. Further to that we had trouble with the WiFi as 3 students had to do their exam online the WiFi breaks and disrupts often. We also had problem with dryer which was dirty and not working well to dry the clothes. Other than the above that the cottage was perfect and wonderful and we don’t mind renting again and Falmouth is a lovely place to relax and have a typical English holiday.

Comfortable house. Maybe the cleaners could take away some of the rubbish. We had to sort rubbish left by two previous occupants that hadn’t been put out for collection. Could also do with replacement pillows! However, would stay here again as really enjoyed our week

  • "It is a shame that a few little tweaks could make this house exceptional."

Couldn't get the oven to work or the upstairs tv. A book with guidance would be helpful. Also the shower needs some grouting work done. A nice few starter items were great but spoiled by the fact that we couldn't get the lounge TVs to work then we found that all the arials had been taken out of the set - why? Sport for items in the kitchen - never had so many in any of the places we have staid previously this was a plus. Good location for seeing the area a the beach is only a 5min drive away.

  • "The house has potential to be a really lovely stay for all ages but it is not toddler proof."

There is wires hanging from the wall lights, there is lots of clutter around meaning we were unable to unpack all of our clothes and food shop. We had 3 drawers & 2 x small drawers for 4 of us as the chest of drawers in the cupboard was full of someone else’s clothes! The garden has lots of different levels and the decking is rotting right outside of the back door. The door is very hard to open and close. The house also isn’t very clean, lots of cobwebs around. With these little things that could easily be rectified, it would be a lovely holiday home as there are lovely beaches within a short walking distance.

  • "Lovely comfortable house and we very much enjoyed our stay."

A welcome pack of house info would be nice, little things like nearest shops, and walking route to the beach, which is really quick and easy once you have found it!! Some basic cleaning supplies would be good too, I like to keep the properties I stay in clean, especially the kitchen but there was no cleaning products at all. The patio door needs looking at, it doesn’t slide very well and we had trouble closing it so decided not to open it again. Not a problem im March, but summer visitors will need it as there are no other opening windows downstairs. Not wanting this to sound too negative as it is a lovely comfortable house in an ideal location to explore from. We would definitely visit again.
