It was perfect in every way. The week started with a personal welcome from one of the owners who showed us round a spotless property which contained everything we could possiibly need during our 7 night stay. It was also a nice touch to receive some welcome gifts of wine, scones, jam and clotted cream which we really enjoyed. Tintagel is a very nice place and a great spot for exploring other areas of Cornwall and Devon, which we certainly did. It was so nice to do that knowing we would be returning to such comfotable and relaxing accommodation. One tip for anyone planning a visit though is to take planty of coins for the car parks. Most have them have an App you can use to pay, but the prices are completely different to those stated on the machine for when you pay by cash. As for places to check out, there are so many. I really liked Polperro, St. Ives, Looe, Boscastle and Padstow, but there is so much to see in Cornwall and Devon. Finally, a huge thank you to John and Mandy who own the property. We really had a lovely week. Reviewed by IanMay 2022 "Perfect location for many coastal and countryside walks, we barely used the car." The lodge itself is extremely well kept, clean and equipped. The arrival treats were a kind and thoughtful touch and our daily visits for hot tub maintenance were friendly, swift and discreet. Owners were super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. The lodge is surrounded by fields, the cows were entertaining and the resident robin a refreshing bird song alarm clock. If you’re looking to switch off and embrace nature within walking distance of Tintagel and it’s amenities then Hideaway Lodge is the perfect spot. Thank you! Reviewed by ClareMar 2022 "The accommodation was very nice and just what we wanted and needed." We had a hitch with the hot tub but was sorted at first opportunity it could be by owner which was great. Hot a few issues with TV signal and internet which was sorted to best they could but did find couldn’t use bedroom tv at same time as main one. The only recommendation I would make is perhaps some non slip strips on the steps and flooring leading to the building as it does get slippery and although your h was useful the area not well lit. It didn’t spoil our break and John was brilliant in getting things done and helpful. Had some great meals at King Arthur’s. Certainly would be a place we would return to without hesitation. Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the TVs both work perfectly fine and you can have them on at the same time. There is a gritted paint on the steps to make them non slip and this is maintained on a regular basis, there are lights everywhere outside and in the parking area. It’s on a quiet park with other lodges but secluded in the far corner which just has the fields of cows to view whilst not being over-looked. Great view from the lovely hot tub. The lodges is fully equipped with everything you need and was pristine and comfortable. The location is superb to either walk into Tintagel (10min) or to explore further a field. Taberwith is recommended for a local beach at low tide. Just 2 miles in the car or there is a coastal walk. John the owner met us as we got there and came to check the hot tub everyday in a non-intrusive way. Will definitely be returning to this great find! Every single little thing is thought of to make your stay perfect. And the welcome gifts of scones and wine in the fridge was a lovely surprise too, and greatly enjoyed. John greeted us to tell us where the key was and brief us on the use of the hot tub, and said if any problems to call him. We didn’t need to as everything went perfect. Would definitely return and have already recommended to family and friends! Reviewed by KimJun 2021 "We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Hideaway Lodge." We stayed for a week as a family of 3. It was our first family holiday (thanks Covid!!!) and Hideaway lodge was perfect. John and Mandy are so lovely and a pleasure to deal with. They provided everything we needed and more, it really was a home away from home (although with better views and a hot tub!). John and Mandy provided a travel cot and high chair for our young son which was super helpful and everything (including the cot mattress!) was immaculate. My only complaint is I wish we had booked longer than a week! We found lots of things to do but I would say the coastal paths around tintagel are not suitable for young children and pushchairs so you will probably need to drive to a beach more suitable for children. Trebarwith Strand was perfect. Our favourite meal out was at the Old Malthouse Inn in Tintagel. We chose to postpone our holiday by a year due to COVID and we had no issues with being able to do this. As our first holiday as a family of 4 we couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to stay, it was clean and well presented and had everything you were likely to need. A travel cot and high chair were provided as needed with no problems. The hot tub was lovely and enjoyed by all, especially our 8yr old who went in everyday. There were lots of things to do in the area and the owners provided a folder with local information and sights. A little welcome gift of scones was a lovely touch for our arrival and enjoyed out on the terrace in the sun. Would definitely recommend Hideaway Lodge as a lovely place for a holiday. Hideaway Lodge directions were really good, John was there to greet us with a cream tea and milk in the 'fridge, thank you, so welcome on arrival. The Lodge is well furnished, really comfortable with lovely, big, fluffy bath sheets to wrap around you when you come out of the shower or bath. As we were staying just before Christmas John and Mandy had put up a Christmas tree with some tasteful decorations around the lounge, it was another thoughtful touch. There were plenty of hangers and lots of storage space. There are lots of books and information about the local area, games, dvds and notepads for children and adults alike. (We played Trivial Pursuit, something we haven't played for years!) It is the most private lodge on the site and the absolute bonus is the hot tub; we were blessed with a few really clear nights and it was pure joy to sit under the stars, sipping our drink in the luxurious warmth of the water, perfect after my unplanned dip in the stream at St Nectan's Glen! We even sat out on my husband's 70th birthday with our bubbly watching the moon rise. It was a perfect break away and I would highly recommend Hideaway Lodge, we can't wait to return. We were greeted by the owner who treated us kindly and warmly as old friends despite the fact that he had never met us before. We found the hot tub a most welcome “cure” for the inevitable aches and pains associated with long, wonderful walks by the sea. The kitchen fittings worked well and the beds were very comfortable, almost too comfortable! The two bedrooms each had well appointed en suite facilities and the lounge was comfortable as well.
