  • "Stayed at Goslings over Christmas and had a wonderful break."

The owners, Sally and Charlie, had decorated the property for Christmas for us and provided us with a lovely Christmas hamper and also one for the 4 legged family member Roscoe. There was also a cream tea set out for our arrival which was amazing and the log burner was lit! The cottage was cosy but spacious and very comfortable for us, beds were comfy as were the sofas. The property is well maintained and felt like home. Great hosts who are next door should you need anything. Amazing to watch all the different birds coming to the bird feeders in the rear garden. We had a great break at Goslings.

Roscoe is so handsome! We appreciate your great feedback. The sofas have just been recovered in time for Christmas so good to have a positive comment. Thank you for looking after Goslings so well . So pleased you enjoyed your Christmas break despite the weather. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage everything we could want for a holiday."

Beds beautifully clean as was kitchen and bathroom. We were warm and had lots off hot water. A little detail to cobwebs especially in small bedroom and dust. We had a lovely time and visited many places. The welcome we received from the owner was great,we had,had a long drive and it was raining and cold, the fire was alight and the heating on,and a lovely cream tea was waiting for us.

So pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Goslings and managed to travel about a lot. The weather was not very kind to you. Bit surprised about dust and cobwebs, I can only apologise, must be getting lax in my old age and wood burners don't help! Property Owner

  • "Myself and my husband came to stay with our two daughters at the end of October."

Our stay was wonderful! The cream tea on arrival was absolutely lovely and much needed after a journey and the lit fire was most welcoming on a cold evening. The cottage is lovely and cosy and has absolutely everything you will need. We looked forward to returning to it every evening after a day out. And the bed has to be the most comfortable I have ever slept in! I’d have the best night sleeps there and would look forward to getting back into bed every evening! The cottage has a garden too, which unfortunately as it rained for most of our stay, we didn’t get to spend much time in, but it was lovely to look out to and watch all the little birds feeding. Charlie, the owner is so helpful and friendly and is just next door. I would recommend purchasing some of his honey and eggs. They are delicious! We purchased some for ourselves and some to bring back as gifts for relatives. My daughters didn’t want to leave and my eldest said she’d like to move in forever! We would absolutely love to come back to stay here again, we are expecting a little boy in the spring so would love to return later next year and in the meantime, I’ll definitely be recommending The Goslings to others!

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and looking after Goslings. It is heart warming when what we do is so appreciated. Wishing you a healthy, happy new arrival in the spring. Look forward to seeing you all again Property Owner

Best we have ever come across! Lovely cream tea on arrival making it very welcoming as well as a doggy pack containing towels, treats, bowls and pooh bags. Charlie kept the bird feeders topped up all the time and we saw lots of different birds whilst drinking our tea in the lovely garden. Very friendly and helpful owners and we will be back.

What super feedback, thank you so much. The birds cost a small fortune in sunflower seeds and fat balls ! We look forward to seeing you back again in the future. Property Owner

Great location to travel around the area, peaceful and restful. The cottage itself was everything you need. Clean, well equipped, very comfy bed and the perfect property size for our needs. Internet was a bit temperamental, daughter had a job interview on 'teams', but it worked out with a bit of stalling. Highly recommend Goslings if you want to get 'Away from the Madding Crowds'. It's far enough away to be quiet without being isolated.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. Internet should have been sorted at the beginning of last month, we are about to lock horns again with BT....fingers crossed! Property Owner

  • "What an absolutely gorgeous cottage."

We loved how bright, airy and cosy it was. Everything you need is there and the owners were just lovely. Welcoming and on hand if you need anything (which we didn’t, they’ve thought of everything) but not overbearing. Lovely little garden with seating to enjoy the peace and tranquility and to watch the abundance of birds who were loving the feeders, and the sheep and ponies in the next field. Loved the location down the private lane, the only traffic was the farmer and the only noise was the occasional cow mooing, and the bells from the little nearby church. All the advantages of being rurally remote, but with the beaches and various places to visit just a short drive away. It was an absolutely perfect holiday and I’d recommend the Goslings to anyone! Thank you!!

The location is very quiet with no light pollution and the beds are extremely comfy. I had the best week of sleep I had in years. The cottage was immaculately clean and very well equipped, we had everything we could possibly think of. The owners are lovely and friendly, we enjoyed chatting with them. The garden with bird feeders is a real treat, it was mesmerising to watch the birds from the sofa. We had incredible stay and will definitely come back at some point. Thank you!

The home-made scones were appreciated as was the topping up of the garden bird feeders. Watching the birds in the enclosed private garden was a delight. The cottage is well equipped and in a peaceful idyllic setting with footpaths from the door. Our two dogs were very welcome. Wi-Fi was not particularly stable but good enough to deal with the outside world if you have to!

So pleased that you enjoyed the birds, we do get quite a variety, plenty of juveniles at this time of year. Thank you for taking good care of Goslings and such well mannered dogs are always welcome. Hopefully we will be more 'stable' from 7th August! Property Owner

Our only negative is the speed of the internet, which was slow and sometimes nothing at all. It would have stopped me booking if I had known.

Thank you so much for your feedback and for looking after Goslings so well. Very pleased that business was good in Devon despite the internet. Have done a speed test, been told by one supplier there are too many trees, often the case in the country. All will be rectified on 7th August, so thank you for the heads up it's always been a bit slow but not non existent. Hope you enjoyed your cream tea, your timing was excellent for warm scones. • "We stayed at Goslings for the 1st week in July, with our Cockapoo."

We had a lovely stay and saw an awful lot of North Devon and Cornwall as the cottage is so central to each beautiful coastline. If you visit, go into Bude and eat at The Bank at Bude. They do lovely tapas and are really dog friendly. A highlight of the cottage for us, was the birds that could be seen from the beautiful, secluded garden. Each day the feeders would be refilled and it was so relaxing to watch them during the evening. The only negative, as mentioned by another reviewer, was the internet. We don’t expect super fast speeds, you are in the countryside after all, but I had to make a couple of online business calls at the start of our holiday and that proved to be difficult. It was also a slight issue during the evening as the Smart TV is not useable at the current speed. However despite this issue, we would definitely book again as we had such a nice time. Thank you

Unspoilt beach dog friendly all year round just north of Bude .Northcott mouth. A visitors book in the cottage would have been nice to read other people’s suggestions of places to visit / eat.

Thank you so much for your feedback, it's always so good to be appreciated. Your note mentioning 'Birdman' made us both smile. A Red kite was overhead today...nowhere near the feeders! So laid back we were nearly horizontal. Charly and Sally who owned the properety were lovely people and ensured that we had a great stay. The cottage was clean, comfortable, warm and snug. Lovely and quiet, plus wild birds in the garden thanks to the feeders that were re-filled on a regular basis. The cottage was decorated for Christmas as well. Harley, our Collie cross was well catered for too with covers to put on the sofas, food and drinking bowls supplied along with mats and treats for her too! We also had a Christmas hamper, courteously supplied by Charly and Sally. Lovely walks around Bradford too. Had a super time and will definately recommend Goslings to anyone looking for peace and quiet. A lovely old church within the grounds too, which is left open during the day for reflection and prayer. Although it rained every day, it was not a problem as in the cottage is a nice log burner!!! Lovely and toasty after a cold, fresh walk! A wonderful holiday.

Very easy to work in kitchen with nice crockery, good selection of glasses possibly another smaller frying pan would have been useful for just two. I took a small slow cook so our dinner was ready for us in the evening. Great having plenty of logs for the fire. The bathroom was always warm, excellent shower and very long bath! Good towels. We slept well in cozy bed. It was ideal having small porch for shoes and wet coats. We went to many beaches with our dog and being October we could wander on the beautiful beaches and let her run happily. Thank you for our stay we enjoyed our week very much and the weather was a little wet at times but overall quite kind. Sorry about the iPad left on the table!!!!! There was the added treat of a cream tea on arrival and a doggy basket for the dog. It was great watching the many varieties of garden birds at the feeders. Many we don’t get in our garden. Bradford is a quiet little hamlet with very quiet lanes to walk a dog. It’s only a few miles to Holsworthy and about half an hour to Bude. Black Rock (the far side of Widemouth Bay) is a great wide beach for dogs with a dog friendly cafe. Our young collie, Peggy, didnt want to leave it. The historic Grt Torrington, not too far away, has an enormous common for countryside doggie walking. For dog owners. . The garden isn’t completely secure as it has a low fence at the top end. But would be fine for a small dog.

Thankyou, Goslings is set in a beautiful rural setting on the boarders of Devon and Cornwall! It was stunning as shown in the photos cosy homely clean and everything you need for a break away! I travelled with my teenage son, 2small dogs and elderly 80+ parents one with a wheelchair but still abled to walk around freely this was ideal as all on a ground level just 2 steps to the entrance! My father has early dementia so the surroundings are pretty safe as there is nowhere for him to roam especially at night as it is pitch black no street lighting. I would probably recommend a lantern or torch for late last min outside toileting for pets. WiFi is pretty good and good tv selection and fantastic selection of board games and cards!! On arrival the cream-tea and homemade scones were very welcoming! The rain had been poring heavily on our arrival. I never thought to pack my walking boots. So it was very wet and muddy down the lanes, so just be prepared for that matter! Thankfully cleared and rest of week was perfect. I didn’t really have the time before setting off or have much room space in car to bring basic sundries! As it was late the nearest food shop was Waitrose we were limited to time, it closed at 9 so a quick shop became a bit pricey really! Nevertheless the Nearest supermarket is bude 30 mins away, Lidl you can stock up there. Or if your really stuck for time and just need a few bits there is a BP garage about 5 mins away open until 11pm hope that helps. The cottage I have to say was very cosy great power shower a nice bath for a soak. Lovely welcome basket for dogs with towels and bowls doggy treats etc! The beds were extremely comfy we all slept like logs! Lol nice garden at the back to chill have a glass of wine and listen to the birds and be at touch with nature! Sally and Charlie owners live on the farm next door. Friendly and helpful. Also they had lit the wood burning stove and left some Home made Scones with Clotted Cream and jam for us We felt like King and Queen. We Totally loved the layout of GOSLINGS, everything was thought of. Fresh, Ultra Clean and very very comfortable. Being on ground level made it so much easier for both me and my Husband as we suffer from Knee joint pain. we both enjoyed our stay at GOSLINGS and will definitely be looking to book again in the near future.I rate this property and the owners 5 + ******.

The owners were welcoming and helpful and the cottage had everything we needed. It was comfy, cosy and the dogs loved it too. Very clean and tidy and nice special touches like scones and cream and the fire lit when we arrived. A very peaceful place to stay but watching the birds was a real treat. We celebrated our anniversary in a very special place and we will definitely be returning. Thanks again for everything.

  • "I felt confident that we were going to be well looked after when other reviews reported that they were greeted with a Devon cream tea with freshly baked scones on arrival."

Every detail had been thought of, from dishwasher tablets to board games. Is there any cling film? Yes! This felt more like staying in someone's home than in a holiday cottage. The bird feeders were replenished during our stay and we twice got to see a woodpecker on the feeders along with the more usual birds. The cottage was perfectly warm enough but we also made the most of the log burner; a lovely treat for us. A proper Devon cottage with a warm Devon welcome.

  • "Sally and Chris were great hosts and made us very welcome and comfortable in their cottage."

Our dogs were very safe in the lovely enclosed rear garden. We said in the Visitors Book that, for us, the location, accommodation, comfort and amenities were just right. The area is very beautiful and the cottage is a great base to explore the countryside and the coast. If we ever got back to that area we would definitely consider staying at Goslings again.

  • "What a wonderful cottage!"

Goslings was an absolutely wonderful find! Away from it all in a very quiet location, but not too far away from shops and beaches. We were met with a warm welcome by Sally who had also just taken the homemade scones out of the oven to go with the Devon Cream Tea she had left for us to enjoy. We always take our Patterdale Terrier with us on holiday so it was lovely to see that she had a welcome basket of treats, towels, food mat and bowls. Goslings was very comfortable and very well equipped. We didn't make use of our own private garden, but we did make use of the log burner! Made us feel very cosy indeed. Goslings is now on our list of places to revisit and would definitely use again when visiting North Devon. Upon departure we met Charlie, the other welcoming owner, and bought some of their own honey from their hives! Thank you again for our stay. Jacqui, Steve & Magik from Southampton.

On arrival we were met with home made scones, jam and cream - delicious and the wood burner alight. Thank you Sally and Charlie. Tranquil location with bird song - in the evening the most amazing sight of thousands of starling murmuration. As we were unable to travel on the scheduled day due to severe weather conditions eventually travelling two days later the owners kindly offered to let us stay on for the extra days - sadly due to family commitments we were unable to accept their kind offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Goslings and would highly recommend. Noreen, John and Sonny (the dog).
