  • "We had a lovely week at Billy's Barn."

After being let down at very short notice by another holiday cottage provider we found last minute availability at the above property in Devon. Maggi, owner, ensured the cottage was ready for us and thankfully allowed us to salvage our week away. We and our 2 labradors had a fantastic time exploring the beautiful beaches and small villages/towns of north Devon and into Cornwall. The barn is cozy, bright and very comfortable - a perfect home from home and the garden was great for the dogs to have a mooch in. WiFi reception was very poor due the the barn being so rural but the owners were upfront about this as they were about the many potholes to be found on the small roads in the locality. Devon Council really needs to sort these out asap. Maggi and Charlie were great hosts - not intrusive but there if you needed them. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in rural Devon at Billy's Barn.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed your time here in Beautiful Devon. The WIFI is an ongoing issue for us all and we look forward to a new provider coming one day! last heard it was going to be 2023! As for the pot holes, I hope the council will listen to the concerns of us all. Lovely meeting you both and your very well behaved beautiful labs. All the best Maggi and Charlie Property Owner

  • "The beautiful looking property is starting to look tired due to lack of maintenance and short cuts being taken by the owner."

The duvet, covers and pillows in the main bedroom need immediate replacement. We wouldn't use these for our dogs beds. The sofa's are cheap and uncomfortable. The outside garden was scruffy - grass too long and needed cutting - picking up dog poo difficult. Wooden garden furnish old and very damp - not maintained with regular wood treatment. All the weeds outside the main door doesn't look good - we don't buy the excuse about feeding the bees. Your promotional pictures don't show all the weeds. We felt uncomfortable about the proximity of your property to the holiday cottage - we felt like we were being watched. Example - you came around in a flash because our dogs were off lead whilst getting into our car to go out. This wasn't handled very well. On day of departure your cleaner parked up at exactly 10am outside the front door - we were almost finished but this pressure isn't a good look. We travel within the UK regularily on cottage holidays and this was our worst experience. I just got the impression that the owner couldn't really be bothered and was just going through the motions. My comments may appear bad but we moved onto our second cottage immediately after Billy's Barn the there was a massive difference in quality and friendliness from the owners.

All Feed back is important to us. We do request dogs are kept on a lead around the farm because we have animals. A field is provided to exercise dogs and all details are in the information folder in the cottage. This has highlighted the need for more signage, thank you. Best wishes Maggi Property Owner

The cottage was lovely and clean, everything you could ask for, for a peaceful retreat. Maggi greeted us on arrival and gave us such a warm welcome and tips on places to visit. Sandymouth Bay is a definite must to visit with breathtaking views. The local pub Bradworthy Inn is also a must to visit with friendly staff and you couldn’t fault the food or service. A special thank you Maggi.

Thank you so much for your great feedback, it was lovely meeting you both. It is always good to hear the local pub was enjoyed, we are so lucky to have so many different businesses just down the road. I hope you have a wonderful time on your big holiday next year! Quite isolated location with not very good WiFi connection so would not be ideal for youngsters. Thank you Maggie for being warm and welcoming.

Thank you for your feedback and I am glad you enjoyed Billy's Barn. We are rural and I do try to direct guests here as SATNAV does work for some but not all. I will put maps back in the cottages to help. The wifi is very patchy at the moment and we really do hope that the works going on round this area will improve connection very soon. • "We had a lovely holiday at Billy’s Barn."

Everything in the accommodation was perfectly attended too and there was a good range of utensils, crocks, towels, etc and much appreciated tea, coffee, biscuits, milk and juice on arrival. The location is very peaceful and though as we wanted it is slightly off the beaten track everything we needed was easily in reach in 20 minutes. The Butchers in the village (Bradworthy) is recommended as is the pub, though didn’t have time to eat there. It was lovely to sit in the evening sun with a G&T looking over the rolling hills in the garden. Overall a very welcoming and well maintained Barn. The local area is great and we would certainly consider a return visit.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and that you had some lovely weather. We hope you will return one day to explore more of this beautiful part of the world. Best wishes Maggi Property Owner

  • "Lovely barn in a breathtaking surroundings, very clean with spotless bathrooms and kitchen, super comfy beds."

A nice sized garden with chairs and a table to sit at. Landlady very kind and helpful. Really enjoyed having the large window in the lounge area as you can just sit and enjoy the view and watch nature do its thing. The roads in and out of the area are very run down with potholes everywhere, and mainly single lane roads, but this seems to be a theme around north Devon as some of the roads are atrocious, I've never seen roads so poorly maintained, obviously this is out of the control of the owners but just beware as my car bottomed out a few times. The internet never really worked for us and the TV could do with updating to a smart TV but then internet seems to be a bit unavailable. All in all a great stay, and I'd recommend if your ok dealing with the roads.

Thank you for your feedback, glad you enjoyed your stay. The roads are in need of repair and we all hope they will be dealt with soon. The Internet is also something we are hoping will be boosted when airband are in the area. Best wishes Maggi Property Owner

There was a good view from the large picture window and a well equipped kitchen area. The owner (Maggi) was an excelent host, she was polite and well mannered and she took time out to introduce us to her animals at feeding time. What more could we ask for on a relaxing break ??. The property is centrally placed for many nice locations. If I was to complain about any aspect of this holiday it would be the state of the local roads, but at this moment in time the roads, all over this country, are in a discusting state.

Billy's Barn is a wonderfull place to stay. The facilities are perfect for every type of stay. It is a real home from home. We stayed here for Christmas with no intentions or plans to do anything. So it needed to be comfortable and relaxing and it certainly didn't disappoint. The Barn was immaculately clean and tidy, it had everything and more that we needed for our stay. The location is very rural which was perfect for us, however only a short drive to the nearest shops, beach etc. The owner was lovely to chat to and also showed us around the animals they had too. We can't thank them enough for letting us stay here, at very last minute and over Christmas. Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. The internet issue is beyond our control I'm afraid. We have invested in connections to Fritillary Cottage which are working well at the moment and does service Billy's Barn when the signal is strong enough plus our own hub. The cottage had everything we needed and Molly our Golden Retriever enjoyed the secure garden and we could relax knowing she was safe and sound. There were so many interesting places to visit that our week flew by and it was lovely to find so many dog friendly places to eat like the lovely Urchins in Bude and The Market Kitchen in Appledore.. We can highly recommend Billy' s Barn and we look forward to visiting again.

  • "We had a lovely relaxing break at Billy's Barn with our dogs."

The accommodation was perfect and the owners, Maggie and Charlie were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, we had to leave a day early due to the snow that was heading our way! Maybe we should have stayed, it would have been a very comfortable and cosy place to be snowed in at! Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
