“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River Barns.”

The cottage was extremely clean and excellent Covid measures were in place. A lovely location and a beautiful cottage.

River Barns

A collection of five barn conversions in the hamlet of Bridge, near Redruth in Cornwall. As their names suggest, they are situated by a small river and are approximately one and a half miles from the sea at Portreath on Cornwall's north coast. These well-thought out properties have some lovely, quirky features, with a Cornish-themed décor, feature walls and wrapped doors, as well as charming Cornish-themed print on the staircase, which you can admire as you head up to the first floor of each property. The hamlet of Bridge has a tea room and a restaurant, while the town of Redruth is three miles away, with a wider selection of eateries and amenities, as well as Cornwall Gold and Tolgus Mill, Moseley Heritage Museum, Kresen Kernow museum and Heartlands World Heritage Site. Portreath and the coast are just over a mile away, with its sandy beach, cafés, bakeries and Monkey hut attraction, while further up the coast, you will pass the RAF Portreath military base, as you head towards St Agnes Heritage Coast, with ample scenic walking trails and the glorious beaches of Chapel Porth and Perranporth. About the location

PORTREATH

Truro 14 miles; St Ives 15 miles.

With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
