  • "We have just come back from a 4 night stay at 2 River barns near portreath."

The service provided by the owners of this cottage was outstanding. We arrived at our cottage on Monday afternoon, when we opened the door we were welcomed with a plate of delicious caramel shortcake a complimentary bottled of wine and lots of delicious biscuits and jams. We were even given all of the essentials such as fresh milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, cleaning products, bath and shower products and so much more, really, the list is endless. I have never had so much complimentary goods in my life, it really was a nice touch. Each room was clean, the house is stunning and the local staff are really friendly. The area is really quiet and peaceful too which really helps. I can honestly say that this cottage and Holiday experience was the best we have ever had. Thank you to everyone at sakes cottages for going the extra mile to make our holiday extra special, I will definitely be telling friends and family about Sykes. Thanks again

  • "We had a lovely stay at 2 river barns over new year."

The inside of the property was beautiful and perfect for our 2 families, With having a double bed, a twin and bathroom on each floor just worked out really well. The decor was lovely, and it was immaculately clean, lovely comfy beds and modern bathrooms. The kitchen had everything you could need, every pot and pan etc and the living area with its extra big comfy sofa, was perfect. My only negative point was the location of the cottage. It was located on a small industrial estate with a hot tub business and a tattoo parlour right opposite the cottage! It wasn’t exactly what we expected. Saying that we never saw a sole and it didn’t bother us as we were inside the cottage most of the time. I just think people should be made aware it is on a small industrial estate.overall we had a really lovely stay and it was perfect for our party of 8.

  • "Lovely house which accommodated our three-generation family for a winter break really well."

The location is great, as only a short drive to great beaches/activities. We went bowling/roller skating/golf all within 20 mins of the house. We also loved playing darts and pool in the local Portreath Arms with the kids of an evening. Loved the log-burner in the cold weather. Facilities inside the house were lovely and everything was immaculate. Owners were welcoming and friendly, and the cute little village of Portreath was only a mile down the road. It’s was a weather warning with Storm Arwen while we stayed and the house was well-heated and warm. The beds are really comfy too, and the kitchen is well-kitted out. And given that it was a winter break, it was handy that there was a TV in every room. The sofa is amazing and comfortably sat seven of us! My only recommendation is that they provide recycling facilities for guests as the only recycling is for glass. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here! There are also lovely shepherds huts on site which I’ve already looked up to book soon for a quite weekend with my husband.

  • "We have just spent an enjoyable half term holiday at 2 River Barns with our son and family."

We found the very modern house to a high standard and very clean. The unusual doors take a little getting used to, but the house provided everything that our extended family, ranging from three young children to my wife and me in our 70s required. We decided to have the double bedroom on the 2nd floor as it was somewhere we could retire to for peace and quiet if needed! This had the advantage or the disadvantage whichever way you see it, of having to negotiate two flights of stairs but was very good exercise! We particularly liked the completely open plan ground floor as it means that the person doing the cooking always feels included. With young children the play area was very useful and the house is well placed to visit all parts of Cornwall. We would definitely recommend staying at 2 River Barns and have already booked it for the October half term next year!

  • "2 River Barns was an amazing holiday home, well kitted out with everything we could need."

All rooms were spacious and clean, including two large bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of crockery and cutlery. On our arrival a plate of home made brownies and a bottle of wine was waiting for us along with a basket of tea, coffee, jams and biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge. There was the luxury of a TV in each bedroom and well as the main living room. Plenty of fresh towels, comfortable beds and nice hot showers and baths completed the experience.

  • "Great property for two families as each has one floor for total privacy, very clean and had everything we needed."

Manager Jenna was very helpful, efficient communication and happy to give a helping hand. Perfect location to explore Cornwall, a few nice beaches nearby, short drive to St Ives, and reasonable distance for day trips to lands end and Eden project. Property located in a very quite area with children playing field and some sittings outside too. Personally would prefer harder mattresses, and a downstairs WC would be much more convenient.

  • "Fantastic location in cornwall to visit the array of beaches and attractions on offer."

The welcome pack was really informative and the homemade scones were a lovely touch and much appreciated after a long drive. We felt the house catered perfectly for our 5 night staycation. The house was more than we hoped for and was very modern but with a homely feel. There was an issue with our hot water which was resolved no problem. I would definitely visit again, my two daughters loved it and had the added bonus of an outside play area onsite which they enjoyed. We were given recommendations on where to dine and both places were amazing especially Trevaskis farm restaurant and market. Thank You for a great stay.

When we arrived there was a welcome pack with food drinks and homemade brownies which was such a lovely touch. The beds were so comfortable, so was the sofa. The location was also good, not too far from St Ives, Newquay and Perranporth. There is a Tesco near by, there isn't much in Portreith itself but it has a nice pub with great food. We would highly recommend this house.

There was ample parking, cottage is in a great location to get to st Ives, Padstow, Porthcurno, Falmouth and everywhere in between. We also like the fact it is close to a great beach (5 min away) The property sits on 3 floors and worked perfectly for both families. All the amenities were available (washing machine, coffee machine, ironing board etc) The rooms are well decorated and there is lots of light. It felt homely and cosy. There are 2 bathrooms and we were provided with bathroom products (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner) There is a nice courtyard to dine outside and a washing line to hang wet clothes. The owners were very accommodating , they provided us with some great local restaurant recommendations. I would definitely stay at this cottage again and it made our trip to Cornwall very enjoyable.

About the location

PORTREATH

Truro 14 miles; St Ives 15 miles.

With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
