We found it to be perfect for us, the only slight criticism was that the bed base seems to be too high in the middle which creates a ridge in the mattress, which takes a couple of nights to get used to. However this did not detract from us having a great weeks holiday. We would thoroughly recommend River Barns. Reviewed by AnthonyMay 2022 "We had a very comfortable stay." We enjoyed being so close to the beach. Although there was no heating when we arrived due to our last minute booking, this was sorted out and the owner came to our rescue. We thoroughly enjoyed the jacuzzi and shower facilities. The only problem we had was although the wifi was excellent, I couldn't make or receive our business phone calls from the apartment. Reviewed by SoniaApr 2022 "We loved 5 River Barns which was spotlessly clean on arrival." It was ideally situated for exploring the area. Unfortunately we didn’t get to meet the owner, although we met her mum. I did leave a note for her saying how we enjoyed our stay and suggestions for additions to the kitchen equipment. I have to agree with some of the previous reviews about the sloping bed as we too felt we were going to roll out! On the whole we had a nice weeks stay Thank you for your valuable feedback, it really helps us to know what our guests need! Your comments have been addressed, the mattress has now been replaced with a brand new one and the suggestions for new kitchen utensils have been purchased. - The Owner Relations Team. Reviewed by EllenOct 2021 "We were really impressed with the accomodation at 5 River Barns being finished to a really high standard." It was just as described. There is also a lovely walk that goes along from the accomodation into Portreath where there is a small beach. Reviewed by VeronicaOct 2021 "This is a great place to stay." The cottage is comfortable with all that is needed for a holiday stay, being in a quiet area of the village which is an easy walk to the beach. It makes a good base from which to explore this end of Cornwall. On site staff are welcoming and available. This was our second stay here and we will definitely go again. Reviewed by BarbaraAug 2021 "The accommodation went above expectations to ensure our comfort, even providing an alternative chair for a elderly person as the sofa was very comfortable but slightly low." Very spacious and clean. Reviewed by AudreyJul 2021 "Beautiful single storey building." Very clean and comfortable. Furnishings very nice etc. The fridge is quite small and therefore low and so pretty awkward to use for older people but no real issue. There was a problem with the TVs as the reception is quite poor. We could not get many channels initially but Jenna was very helpful and got us sorted with a Firestick. All in all an excellent stay and would definitely stay again. Reviewed by KarenJul 2021 "Nice clean property ." Mattress could do with changing dips on the outside edge so you feel liked you are falling out of bed . Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We have checked with the owner and this is a quality, thick orthopedic memory foam mattress and is less than a year old. This is the same type of mattress used in their other properties, where feedback has been positive. Therefore, this could be a case of personal preference but taking this into account the mattress is being replaced. Perfectly located to visit a number of beautiful beaches and local attractions. Jenna and her dad both very welcoming. Will definitely return again. Reviewed by LorettaJun 2021 "Everything was really good apart from the mattress, it dipped where people had been sleeping and was alot higher in the middle." Reviewed by AlisonJun 2021 "The accommodation is still fairly new and is of a high standard." We enjoyed the quiet convenient location which is within easy reach of the nearest beach. We found everything very clean and a lovely welcome pack was waiting for us on arrival. For us the only negative thing was the bed. The mattress is a very soft memory foam type which gets very hot so we didn’t sleep that well but that’s just our personal preference. Reviewed by LindaOct 2020 "Our holiday at 5 River Barns was wonderful, it was everything we had hoped for and more." The accommodation was first class and the place was spotlessly clean and tidy, the fixtures and fittings were all of a very high standard, we particularly liked the whirlpool bath and the walk in shower. Jenna was very helpful and welcoming and along with her Father they have done an amazing job of renovating all the old farm buildings into wow factor accommodation units. We would certainly recommend River Barns to anybody. Reviewed by AlanOct 2020 "This cottage was ideally situated for everything we wanted/needed to do." We enjoyed the peace and quiet the site afforded us, making it a welcome retreat at any time of day. The staff we met were welcoming and helpful. Being only a mile and a half from the sea, meant we enjoyed a daily run or walk to the coast along the footpath that runs nearby. Portreath is steeped in history, but less popular than places like St. Ives and Penzance, therefore the beach was not overcrowded, with plenty of space considering it was August bank holiday. By walking to the sea, parking was not an issue. We so enjoyed our stay, we are planning to stay at River Barns again. Reviewed by BarbaraAug 2020 "The accommodation was really exceptional and better than expected." Spotlessly clean and the staff were so friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Reviewed by DavidAug 2020 "Accommodation was brand new and absolutely spotless." Didn’t need to see anyone so keeping socially dis5ant was easy.
