  • "Coinage Hall was a beautiful place to stay, it was clean & warm with comfortable beds and sofas and very well equipped with everything you need."

We are a family of 4 plus 1 dog and had plenty of room. It benefits from being central for shops but is so peaceful. The use of a kayak was a lovely touch and thank you to the owner for great communication.

Thanks for your positive feedback, Always wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Coinage Hall and everything worked so well for you. Thanks again and look forward to you maybe stay in again in the future Property Owner

Really good restaurants within walking distance ( you must pre-book as they are very popular). Very attentive owners. Listing does not show DVD player or Netflix which were an unexpected bonus. Would we go here again -Absolutely yes !

Thanks for the great feedback and so happy you enjoyed your stay so much, look forward to you staying again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful week at Coinage Hall."

It was cozy, relaxing, peaceful and central to the places we wanted to visit. We had great walks along the river with the dog. The locals are friendly and the shop is just across the road. The fish and chips around the corner were award winning and they truly lived up to it. We would certainly visit again.

So glad you had a great time and enjoyed your relaxing stay, hope to see you again sometime soon and thanks for the great feedback, was a pleasure to have you stay Take care Regards Jon Property Owner

  • "I have been to some nice cottages in Cornwall but this one was great."

The owners have thought of everything and I can recommend the cottage without hesitation. The Co-Op is 50 metres away with a great local bakery a couple of doors away from there. Round the corner was Foodies Cafe and Bellamama which are also both excellent. Thank you so much we had a great time at Coinage Hall

  • "Beautiful cosy cottage!"

Absolutely perfect for our needs (2 adults and one child). Such a great location with the co op literally 1 minute away for all your food and drink needs. The village is just gorgeous and has many cool little shops and everyone is so friendly. We stayed over Christmas and it was the perfect place to get into the festive mood. Can imagine it also being lovely in the summer, with the small garden to enjoy. Highly recommend staying here. The owner was also really helpful when we needed help with the gas fireplace. Although we never managed to get it to work, the fact he was so helpful and at the end of the phone if we needed meant a great deal. Thanks again, Alex

Thanks Alex for your great comments and so glad you enjoyed your stay. I will be looking at the fire this week and will address that issue. It is normally caused by previous guest turning out the the pilot light. Thanks for the feedback Jonathan. Property Owner

  • "Coinage Hall is in a lovely position, location and has a nice old world feel to it, however we were really disappointed by the cleanliness of the place."

It was very dirty which at the time of a pandemic is really unacceptable. I had to go out and purchase fresh sponges and bin bags and to clean throughout. For the fee charged it was really not acceptable.

I have spoken with the lady who cleans and turns around the property to address the issues you have raised. If only you had contacted me during your stay the issues highlighted would have been quickly addressed. Sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay Property Owner

  • "Locals friendly."

Shops convenient. All pubs good, our favourite was the Earl of Chatham. Local train station if you fancy going further afield. Never had a problem finding a parking space. We hired bikes one day, which I would recommend. The Camel Trail is nearby and a flat, good cycling surface. Property has all the kitchen gadgets you could ask for. Bed was comfy. Beautiful garden for sitting in and having a cheeky wine. Most of the time we did cook, but when we used local restaurants, they were good.

  • "Property NOT Covid clean, horrible smell on entering Coinage Hall, disgusting smell in kitchen cupboards, kitchen pots and pans needed a Brillo pad at least !"

couldn’t hang clothes in wardrobes due to another bad smell in bedroom, bed supports broken, SNAKE WORM appeared on kitchen worktop, we then cut our holiday very short after a few days and came home ! There was a bad review written in their guest book with similar issues and had said that they would not return, to which the owner had written …. “Wouldn’t want you to come back anyway “ - Very unprofessional !!! VERY disappointed with the whole experience.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to only hear about the issues experienced now. Had myself or Sykes been contacted during your stay we would have acted fast to resolve the issues. I am suprised to hear that you felt a number of issues surrounding the smell, as previous guests have left glowing comments and since your departure we have recieved nothing but positive feedback. Thank you once again for taking the time to let us know of your experience and I am sorry if it didn't meet your expectations. Thanks. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was absolutely beautiful."

I am sorry I could not make the most of it due to my broken ankle. The steps made it tricky to get around but no-ones fault. Owner was very helpful with getting the burner going and also about the sofa bed....thank you Jonathan. Scones were lovely and thank goodness that there was access to a Smart TV as I had to rest up for a few days with my leg elevated! Loved the courtyard and the village. The shops looked great but I couldn't go in any as I was in a wheelchair. Very friendly locals and great food at White Lights Cafe. This property is highly recommended for a romantic retreat. Lots of places to visit nearby and Fowey is beautiful. Wanted to book again for 2022 but the price was significantly more than we paid this year. We have booked elsewhere instead, disappointed that we aren't coming back to Coinage Hall but will visit Lostwithiel again.

  • "Coinage Hall is a beautiful property and extremely cosy."

The Christmas decorations were a nice touch. With the lamps on in the evening, it has a magical feel. Whilst the property had everything required it could do with a deep clean. Given the current climate, I was surprised to see a gruby kitchen top and dust in most places. The white sofa was filthy, although contrary to the visitors book very comfy. The bath was quite dusty and even had little hairs!! After a good clean from myself, I enjoyed the bathroom ambiance and the sunken bath was beautifully cosy. We had a wonderful stay and were honoured to stay in such an old and beautiful property. Sadly the cleanliness let it down.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Coinage Hall, its so central to all the facilities in the village."

The Co-op on the corner is literally a minute away. Would definitely stay here again and the little box of treats on arrival was a great feature. For constructive criticism i would say that on the property description it says open fire, but it is in fact a gas fired stove, we were looking forward to a traditional log burner, but this didn't detract from the stay. The property is let down by not having a proper shower, it can only add to the saleability of the property and finally please replace the white sofa, its so uncomfortable :) I would still recommend this cottage as its easy to get to many of the local areas, and if the minor improvements suggested were made it would be pretty much perfect. Had to contact Jonathan, the owner, who was very helpful, for instructions on how to light the gas burner, but once talked through the process of identifying where the pilot light was it was easy to do.

  • "We loved the cottage found it very clean no funny smells great location shops across the road."

Within half hour of all the great locations. The only small issue was the white sofa does need changing and does need a proper shower. But we loved our stay there and would stay there again and recommend it to others

  • "This is a lovely little romantic cottage with an extremely well equipped kitchen, apart from the fridge is far too small for the potential number of guests who could stay."

There is a lovely river walk from the property which may be useful to include in the advert. The location is great in terms of cafes, antique shops and a well stocked supermarket. My major issue with this property is that it is not safe for young children. The stairs are completely open, the railings on the mezzanine are insufficient to protect the young children and there is no secure gate between the courtyard and the road. I think it is important to highlight this in the advert.

The property we stayed in was very unique and beautiful. The owners have obviously taken great care to create this lovely home. We were met with fresh flowers and a welcome tray of Cornish treats. The property has everything you could possibly need. The village of Lostwithiel is lovely too with pubs and shops on the doorstep and of course the river where we spent time on the owners kayaks. We would definitely recommend the property.
