“The Cottage is great inside, as described .”

we had a deer visit night and morning which was lovely. There was no where to hang the towels up to dry, apart from the towel rail, which I assume is connected to the heating system as we couldn't switch it on .No blind on the window of the 2nd bedroom . Shame about the woodland track ,not great if you have a low car like ours. due to the weather, the week we stayed our car was absolutely plastered in mud, we went out and back once a day , have to visit a carwash now and get it cleaned . When I booked this property back in June 2020 , I was concerned about the building work next door, as we needed peace and quiet to unwind and de-stress due to our job. for us this year has been work as usual , 7 days a week ,so no time off at all. I rang Sykes Cottages to voice my concerns. they rang the owners and was told that the outside building work is finished , only the central heating inside to do, it would be finished by 31st July. so we booked thinking that everything would be done Unfortunately , that wasn't the case . we did have a lovely, quiet and peaceful weekend. then on monday morning , just after 9am . I'd just got up. there was something loud coming down the track. It was a flooring specialist van and generator on behind. my worse fears realised pretty quick what was happening. then a bit later. a huge lorry come with a mix as you go attachment. I rang sykes as we weren't happy with the situation. Eventually got through. they rang the owners , who said that they'll be there for a couple of hours to do the floor. apparently they didn't go there on Friday to do the job. Why weren't we told ? they were there until 12.30 . the only communication from the builder was a knock on the door . we didn't find him friendly. you need to make people aware that it is still a live building site !!!! Also people shouldn't be ringing the cottage to speak to the builder either . 1 of them said I expected him to answer, he usually does , so I hope he doesn't intrude on people's holidays by just letting himself in . His mobile works perfectly fine

The property

Remotely situated in the picturesque wooded area of Buckland Mill, just a short journey from Buckland Filleigh is this unique and characterful property.

The Woodshed set in 25 acres of its own land, not to mention the surrounding beautiful woodland, is a very well-presented property and enjoys a stylish interior design.

The initial entrance to the property is via a woodland track that eventually bends round to the front of the property where ample parking is available.

Walking into the property from the large front patio, there is an open-plan layout that combines the spacious kitchen and main living area with the original stone wall adding to its character.

The kitchen has a large counter and is well-equipped with induction hob, cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher all available for guest usage, as well as a dining table for those looking to self-cater.

Off the kitchen is a hallway - perfect for storing muddy boots and coats.

From here, there is a cloakroom and access to a small courtyard that has a warm shower for those muddy doggie paws (and human ones!!) Moving into the main living area is a dining table, chairs and a television, as well as a woodburner and tiled floor with underfloor heating.

As you ascend the beech (sourced from our woodland) and copper staircase, you reach the first double bedroom equipped with a double bed, bedside tables and chest of drawers for storage.

There are velux windows in this room with a stylish Juliet balcony, which afford the room plenty of light and beams, giving it a charming vintage feel. This room features an en-suite with double tray rain shower, WC, basin and towel rail.

Moving further along the hallway is another similar double bedroom, with a super-king bed, velux windows and en-suite containing shower, basin and WC.

The picturesque village of Buckland Filleigh is a 20-minute stroll away or a 5-minute drive.

The national cycle route is close-by where you can join the entirely traffic-free Tarka Trail route that takes you through Great Torrington to Meeth.

The area of Buckland Mill itself is rich with wildlife and is perfect for bird spotters with cuckoo’s and woodpeckers being regular visitors.

RHS Garden Rosemoor is a short drive away where you can spend the day perusing around the beautiful gardens with arboretum and herbaceous borders.

Alternatively, head south into Dartmoor and take in the luscious scenery of one of the most highly regarded AONBs in the UK.

The Woodshed is a perfect place kick back and admire the stunning scenery that Devon has to offer.

It should be noted that The Woodshed is part one of a two barn restoration project.

The adjacent Barn is an ongoing project that hopefully will add interest to your visit with minimal inconvenience.
