  • "Overall the property was very nice, in a good position to the beach and had the benefit of a parking space nearby."

We had an issue the first night with the DVD player but this was resolved the next day very quickly and on the Thursday the electrics went off and again this was resolved straight away The only drawbacks were a couple of very squeaky floorboards, which in an old building obviously can’t be helped and the traffic was very noisy and took a couple of nights to get used to and again this couldn’t be helped because it was the middle of the town We would come back again as we love Bude and we liked the flat

We have stayed here many times and it’s a great place to stay in Bude. Ideal location, well appointed, spotlessly clean. Hope to be back again next year.

  • "Combined kitchen, dining, and lounge areas, very comfortable, well equipped, with excellent heating for cooler evenings, and all very clean."

A big plus was being in the centre of town with allocated, easily accessible parking close by. Another important feature was the very comfortable double bed. Some steps to flat above a shop, not a problem, but a couple of steps, in the bedrooms corridor, and the one which was quite steep, we feel, would have benefitted from a handrail. A hair dryer would also have been appreciated. All in all a comfortable town centre apartment and despite being above a main street was quiet at night.

  • "Second time we’ve stayed at The Workshop as it works so well for us as a family who are regular visitors to Bude."

Apartment has plenty of space with a good layout. The bit of outdoor space is perfect for either sitting out to enjoy a coffee in the sun or for drying out wetsuits after a trip to the beach which is just a few minutes walk away. Great location in the centre of town and a parking spot that even accommodated our large vehicle. Hosts are great, friendly and helpful as always. We’ve already booked to return.

  • "The Workshop is a nice spacious flat apart from the ensuite which is too small."

More space is needed around the toilet in the ensuite and a larger wash basin is needed. A shower curtain is needed in the bathroom and a conventional shaped bath would work better for showers. It is useful to have a bath. More kitchen utensils are needed for preparing food including another small knife for cutting fruit, vegetables and meat and a casserole dish with a lid. Vegetable peeler needed. Sponge scourers for washing up and a sponge for cleaning the bath would be useful. The remote for the TV is working very well.

  • "No designated parking upon arrival ( burger van being put into position."

There was another space a little further from the property but my large car wouldn’t fit it so the owner ended up moving their car back for us to use it . Then we were asked to move our car again on following Friday to make room for burger van . ( I think they had sold the car parking space for a burger van on Friday afternoons) We were then sandwiched between a skip and the burger van( told it was for 2 hours ) it was all night . On entering the property we thought it seemed a lovely clean property but In fact it was filthy in certain areas. The fridge was dirty, the shelves probably a health hazard . We had to deep clean the fridge before putting any food away . The x2 frying pans were unusable even after a 65 degree wash . They were completely burnt and looked disgusting, so we ended up going out to buy one from wroes, local department store along with a paring knife we couldn’t find ( however we found that hiding later in week under the cutlery tray ) We found casserole dishes in the cupboard that had been put away half dirty , so that then prompted us to wash all cutlery and crockery prior to use. We should not have to do this at all especially after a 6 hour journey ! The courtyard definitely not as pictured it was a small pokey area that was dirty with the dustbin in the corner . There is artificial grass which needs taking up as it was absolutely filthy. ( son went out with white socks they were black! ) The decor out there needs cleaning and painting and making into a nice seating area. The plugs in the bathrooms hadn’t been been cleaned in a very long time . I couldn’t pull any of the debris off. I had to soak them over night in pure bleach . ( photos available) . There is unfinished tiling to the main bathroom and would be a safety concern to toddlers, otherwise is not aesthetically pleasing. Window frame in main bathroom was extremely dirty . The main pine step to access the bedrooms and bathrooms is higher than legal limit and therefore more difficult to access. There are wires dangling at the back of the tv , again extremely dangerous for children and look’s unsightly. Other dirty areas are the patio door frames especially when open , all radiators need washing , dust and dirt is evident on the top . Behind the microwave was a dead fly and dust ( microwave area was large so easy to move it . Lots of dust and cobwebs in the velux windows and light fittings. No pole to open velux windows that had been taken away we did look. The flat is very basic , in kitchen equipment and cheap single beds . Double bed is ok but needs to be a kingsize. We all slept separately as bed was small. My son slept with mattress on floor as he said it was that uncomfortable, it hurt his back . The legs were also wobbly on the bed , this is very sad on a holiday ! The Tv isn’t a Tv merely a screen only but doesn’t imply that in information. The flat is extremely hot and little ventilation ( we understand we were there when weather was hot ) There are probably more things I haven’t mentioned but I do have photographic evidence of everything I’ve mentioned. We do not recommend the flat in its current state. In our opinion it needs a complete overall and deep clean then it could up its ticks and potentially charge more , as this is in a prime location in Bude. Couldn’t not fault the area and only had to use the car when venturing further afield . We did get offered a cleaner by Sykes whilst we were there but we didn’t want any hassle or reprisals from the owners who lived next door to this property. We left several days early from this property , we would rather be at home . Also No arrival package only a bottle of milk . Usually the properties we’ve stayed at provides a welcome gift of biscuits, scones , bottle of wine for example . For us it was minimum imput by owners for maximum output . Such a Shame as this could be an amazing property in a fabulous prime area.

  • "My Wife and I booked our stay for the last two weeks of September."

This was our fourth trip to Bude, which we have somewhat fallen in love with. The owner (David) was very welcoming on our arrival and stressed that we should not hesitate to contact him (two doors down) if there were any issues. The property is accessed by a small and unassuming door on the side of the building. On entering, there was room for hanging coats etc, with the rest of the apartment at the top of a small flight of stairs. We found our accommodation clean and tidy, with everything we could need for our stay. With only the two of us, we were spoiled for space and agree that a family of 5 could enjoy a very comfortable stay. All three bedrooms face onto the street outside and whilst there was some noise at night, it wasn't enough to bother us and we slept well. There is both a shower room with WC and a separate bathroom, comprising of a large corner bath and additional WC. The main living area is an open-plan lounge / diner / kitchen. Whilst there is no view as such, the whole room is bright and airy, thanks to numerous skylight windows and the French doors that face onto a small, astro-turfed area with table and chairs that proved to be something of a sun-trap for most of the day. The apartment could not be better placed in Bude, with ridiculously easy access to a Sainsburys supermarket, takeaways, restaurants and that all important Cornish pasty. Both Crooklets and Summerleaze beaches are 5-10 minutes walk and we only used the car 3-4 days during our whole stay. This was another plus, as the property comes with an allocated parking space, within metres of the front door. Bude is blessed. In addition to the beaches, there are some stunning cliff-top walks and the canal adds an additional dimension that few seaside towns have. The people are also extremely friendly and welcoming. We have come to think of it as our second home. Without doubt, the combination of the accommodation and it's location made this our best trip to Bude yet.

Firstly, although we are very familiar with Bude, the directions & details sent by the owners were first class. All the facilities are excellent & the heating on a cold evening is exceptional. We do like to spend the majority of our time on holiday outside (weather permitting), so coming back to such comfortable accommodation is great. The location is also perfect for easy access to the beaches, or the coastal walks, but also for all the shops, especially being only a very short walk to the supermarkets for food shopping. We did not move the car once all week, which incidentally can be parked in a private bay just a few yards from the front door. We will be returning!!

Super clean (have confidence that the owners take covid seriously) and extremely well equipped. Great for a family of four plus a mother-in-law. Living area is big enough for 8 to hang out and play cards if you have friends over. Outside space is a bonus and great for boards but is as small as it looks. Th layout is a horseshoe around the outside space and one en-suite can be accessed from the double and the single via lockable interconnecting door. We just left that for our guest and used the family bathroom whilst staying in the double. The parking space was a massive bonus too as Bude gets busy. Easy walk to the beach and a stones throw from the useful shops(Boots, pasties, surf hire). Finally the owners were great and were very friendly, always right next door if you needed them.

About the location

BUDE

Tintagel 17 miles.

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
