  • "Brenda and Rodger were welcoming and friendly."

Brenda had left a freshly made cream tea for us and fresh flowers on the table. A comfortable home from home which suited as a base for traveling around the county. I took colouring books and toys for my children as there was no internet (this was welcome to us). I would recommend Claire's Cottage and wish them all the very best, Sarah.

  • "In a quiet area but convenient to explore lots of beautiful walks and beaches."

The pretty garden of the cottage is a good place to relax with a drink or two in the warm evening. A home from home accommodation. The owners are welcoming and very helpful to give you information of the area. If you have children, take their entertainment with you as there isn’t any in the cottage. No Wi-Fi.

Thank you Ann for the nice comments, it was good to see you both again Brenda and Roger Property Owner

  • "It turned out to be a converted garage hence the reason for the damp in the twin bedroom when storage heater was on drawing damp from the floor The decoration was in desperate need of attention There were carbon dioxide detectors every where one started going off so I returned it to owner only to see it was past its use by date by 12 months Then the others were flashing in the bedrooms every 40 seconds There was a smell in the bathroom only to find that the drain to the shower was blocked Water tank was in with washing machine so every time it was used by main house you would hear it filling Doors handles need attention Plus its in need of a good deep clean Hence the reason we left a day early Some holiday!"

  • "We had a lovely stay at Claire's Cottage."

The owners Roger and Brenda made us feel very welcome and there were cream teas waiting for us when we arrived. The only downside I would say was no WiFi access, but that was only because my young son was finding it hard to cope without being able to use his ipad fully - which isn't necessarily a bad thing! We used the cottage as a base to go off and explore the lovely beaches and places like Clovelly (which is a must see, just wear good walking shoes!) and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Speaking of gardens, the owners allowed us access to their own garden which is gorgeous. My son loved running around it. All in all, a wonderful restful stay.

  • "It was very nice welcome from Roger who took us around the cottage and explained where everything was situated."

Also great to exchange memories of our younger years with him. I would have also liked to have met Mrs Dunstan as she was the contact person for the property to say how much we enjoyed her biscuits and the beautiful garden she maintained.

Dear Ann, I apologize for not meeting you when you were here, I did meet your husband briefly, It had been a rather busy week when you were here at Claires Cottage, however pleased you enjoyed your stay. Brenda . . Property Owner

  • "We were really disappointed with our stay at Claire's Cottage."

The cleanliness of the cottage was well below expectations and we had to clean it as soon as we arrived, particularly the bathroom, kitchen and floors. We did explore moving to other accommodation but everything was fully booked, therefore we tried to spend as little time in the cottage as possible. The couple who own the accommodation were very welcoming and did provide a homemade cream tea on arrival, however the basics were not right - cleanliness. The washing machine and tumble dryer were thick with dust and the whole cottage needed a thorough clean. We would not return to this accommodation in the future.

About the location

KILKHAMPTON

Bude 4 miles.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.
