"We have returned 3 times but as the price has increased to over £1000 for next year we will not be rebooking."
-
"My family of five stayed two nights."
Very pleased with everything. Perfect with close parking. Easy to book the outdoor pool and gym. Pretty view! Nice and clean. Good kitchen. Recommend this house.

"The first thing to say is that the information about 2 parking spots needs to be changed as soon as possible."
If your lucky enough to get a parking spot on the parking to the side where the cottages (read chalets) are it’s reasonably flat otherwise you’ll have a steep incline to negotiate up to the property. And for the elderly or infirmed it’s almost impossible to reach the property. As I said earlier they are down as cottages but as some other reviews mention they are really just chalets. The property was clean and tidy and the pots, pans and things were adequate. We have booked with Sykes before and always found them to be excellent properties, but on this occasion we felt let down by the lack of information in the cottage as the only information was from when Covid was about. Overall I’d class the cottage as ok for young families but as I say it’s not for the elderly

"Decent little holiday home, but disappointed with the fact that there was no washing machine and no launderette facilities on site."
No welcome pack, although we did find some out of date information hidden away in the coffee table draw. Cleanliness was adequate!
-
"Very well equipped, even thiugh of the children which is very nice."
The place was nice and clean and causy but the carpets were too dusty. There were dust pilled up under the beds. Main Bathroom had no extractor fan, steam could never get dryed out. The bathroom curtain kept falling which was very annoying. One of the kitchen chair was wobbly, we were scared it would break. But dust and carpets were the main issue.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We will speak to our housekeeping team to get these issues resolved. Property Owner

"Not happy the age of us was 67/69/71/80 Steps to door top step."
Tv not working 4 days week single the large sofa seat springs had gone ( hard to get out of with out help ). Electric shower kept going hot and cold ( as two of us couldn't got in other shower due to knee problems) toilet either did not flush or kept running .

"Very good value for money property, in particular because we got it for just £550."
Relatively basic, but clean, comfortable beds, quiet, relatively spacious for a small party. The site was basic, but some facilities. Sadly, couldn't use the games room, as the white pool balls were missing and also the table tennis ball.

"Back for the 2nd year running."
Our only moan was that on arrival the lodge smelt damp. After a through clean, air fresheners and a good airing the smell disapated. Other than this we hope to book to return next year.
-
"Excellent stay."
Very clean and welcoming. With pools and facilities very close by there is almost no need to leave the site. That said there is plenty places to visit nearby. We requested a shower mat and one was provided very quickly, thanks for that. All in all a perfect stay for four old guys.
-
"We had a fantastic time here place was spotless friendly staff definitely will be visiting again"
-
"I will definitely recommend."
It was clean and staff were very responsive. They also left a booklet which gave us information about different places that we can visit nearby. Each place had a short description which helped us to plan ahead. Very thoughtful!!!!

"This accommodation was all that you needed home from home feel and very comfortable beds and cosy living room/kitchen."
The swimming pool and sauna was great to use we swam every day but we did use the shower facilities there after reading that the hot water didn’t last long in the bungalow but to be quite honest with the children it was just easier to shower straight after swimming so it suited us they were lovely and warm and kept very clean. The pub is absolutely beautiful the old hall is magnificent the staff were friendly. Also to point out Kevin the maintenance guy was so friendly and helpful (after having a heating problem he was straight on it and was sorted out) lots of lovely little places to go to we went into Looe, polperro, Galiath Falls were breathtaking and hearing the roar of the water! We shall definitely go back to this site the history surrounding it was amazing you can see the old pictures around the little arcade and pub which was really useful to read and the kids enjoyed looking it up as well couldn’t fault this at all it was all in all a wonderful week away!

"We had a great time."
Comfortable beds, roomy accommodation. Great kitchen and very well equipped. Loved the swimming pool and it was very easy to book and no limit on how often we went. Shame about the 9am check out. Was quite a rush in the morning.
-
"Very comfortable little bungalow."
Would definitley recommend. Well equipped with everything you need. Lovely location we definitley enjoyed our stay.
-
"Absolutely amazing stay here like a home from home."
Flushing on both toilets were a little temperamental and make a funny blobbing blocked noise but we managed to sort them out ourselves. Beautifully maintained we were very comfortable. Kids loved the pools. All staff apart from one in the pub we amazing and very friendly. We would definitely recommend and most definitely book to stay here again. Thank you for making our stay amazing xx

"This is a very cosy, but spacious bungalow in a great location on the park."
It had everything you could need provided. The only thing we did miss was WiFi, but it was available in the main building. We would definitely book again and would recommend it to friends and family. Great value for money
-
"We were unaware that there was no WiFi as this was obscured on the Sykes site (not fault of owners)."
Lodge very small and very dated decor. Settees have uncomfortable wooden bar across. Lighting in living area very poor. Second “bathroom” too small and shower door does not close so very claustrophobic. Swimming pool used for swimming lessons much of the time. No parking outside lodge so heavy bags have to be carried some way. There were only 3 of us and there was little space, would have been impossible for 6.
-
"More lighting needed from car park upto the accommodation steps in grass not lit"
-
"There was a problem with dining chairs, as a family of six and only five chairs ..."
There was a problem with dining chairs, as a family of six and only five chairs we could not have a meal together and the cutlery was quite dirty and had to be washed before we could use them, but apart from the things mentioned the kids really enjoyed everything about Manorcombe especially the swimming pools
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear about the missing chair. Had you let us know, we would have done our best to help. Your cleanliness comments have been passed onto the management company. Thanks again for your comments. Property Owner

"The bathroom needs attention as the sealant was dirty and the plug in the bathroom didn't work properly."
This is a VERY basic no frills property - adequate for a week but I would not choose to stay in the property again. The seating area and kitchen diner was small for six people and the photos made it look bigger than it actually was. If you only use it as a base for visiting other places in Cornwall then its OK On the plus side was access to the swimming pool and a very reasonable pub on site but obviously booking was necessary as is everywhere you go this year
Thank you for your comments. The issues with the bathroom will be passed onto the management company. We have also discussed rearranging the dining furniture to create more space. Thanks again for commenting. Property Owner
-
"The pool facilities and pub were excellent and we felt comfortable under the current circumstances however we did feel as though we were given false information as the accommodation was certainly not a cottage rather a standard holiday chalet."
Because of this we did feel a little let down although staff we interacted with were very helpful and friendly. We also think better mapping of the site would be very helpful as we spent a long time trying to locate the chalet as the reception was shut upon our arrival.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the on-site facilities. The property description does have 25 photos to view so you can be sure of the style of the property before you proceed with your booking. All guests are sent detailed directions which will help you to locate the property once you have arrived on site. Property Owner

"Really clean accommodation and site, with great facilities."
Very central to all parts of Cornwall

"We had a lovely, relaxing break, despite very 'iffy' weather!"
Including storm Francis! The cottage is laid out very well, & the kitchen spotless, & very well equipped. The view from the patio is great. As we are a 'mature' group, shallower steps would be better, also an additional step into the cottage, & the balustrade needs replacing. Also, although the property is very well insulated, the heating did not seem to be working, and a couple of evenings were a little chilly. These changes would raise this property from great, to exceptional. We would highly recommend this property, and it would be suitable for family groups of any age/mix. Thank you, in these difficullt times, it was so good to be able to stay in such a lovely , well presented property, and Cornwall is always beautiful. Well worth the long drive.
-
"Throughally enjoyed our mini break to Cornwall."
Having family nearby we visit most years and having found this little gem we will be sure to use again next year. Property was spotless, clean, attention to detail was great and we had everything we needed. If you could ensure sunshine every day it would have been beyond perfect :-)

"Lovely stay, although some damp in bedrooms"
The owners regret you found some damp in the bedrooms. This hasn't been mentioned before but they will look at using a dehumidifier in wet periods to ensure the air quality is dry and comfortable Property Owner

"Was a fantastic holiday great place to stay and explore Cornwall the accomidation was well equipped for a holiday home ."
The area was beautiful the only thing that I would say is the indoor pool area is looking a bit tired other than that we had a brilliant time as a family and would stay again
The owners are delighted that you had a fantastic holiday. They are pleased to confirm that the indoor pool area is in the process of redevelopment with new changing rooms and other upgrades. Property Owner

"We had a great time but the information regarding the parking was slightly miss leading as i though you parked directly at the side of the cottage which was not the case it was parking at the end of the block of cottages which caused problems as one of the party was not too mobile ,plus i know it had two steps but they are extremely steep so we had difficulty getting them in and out ."
the cottage itself is very well equipped and plenty of space .
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The parking information has been updated Property Owner

"We required a cot for a baby, on arrival there was a travel cot, but no mattress."
We had to buy one, the owner did pay us back. This was a little inconvenient. The accomodation was not fully cleaned, most of the dishes, pans and cutlery needed washed before use. Honeycomb Manor is a nice location but the surroundings are a little tired looking. The price for the week was not value for money.
The owner apologizes for the mattress disappearance and is glad that this was remedied with your help. The property generally scores well for cleaning and will take up the issue of the unclean crockery and cutlery with their management company Property Owner

"Excellent, well maintained property."
The tin opener didn’t work and we were immediately provided with a new one. It was brilliant to be within sight of the play area.
-
"We were pleasantly surprised to have tea/coffee and biscuits there on our arrival, the cottage was well equipped and very clean."
the open air pool was excellent and ideal weather made our holiday even more enjoyable. We would definitely return to this lovely part of England .
-
"The accommodation was very clean and comfortable."
It had everything you need for self catering. Site facilities were good including, gym, pool and games room. Tennis court was very tired and not really useable. No recycling facilities on site either which is disappointing when waste is such a big issue and with a lot of holiday accommodation on site it would be well used I’m sure. Lots of good places to visit nearby.

"Manorcombe 17 is a hidden gem."
Set in a lovely holiday park,it has all the makings of a perfectly relaxing time. One of the great additions is the fantastic view over the downs towards Saltash, truly lovely. Well recommended.

"Cottage was clean and well equipped."
was surprised the bedding and towels were all changed after first week, as we have not found that in other places we have been in. The outside and inside pool were great , much enjoyed especially by 10year old Grandson. Donkey Sancturary was much enjoyed as Donkeys were very active in trying to find food from us. Had various days out and about which were enjoyed by all 3 generations. Cream Teas naughty but nice.

"Note around WIFI is misleading."
Given the lack of mobile signal and bad weather, it is really important to have wifi access. No wifi in the property. Apart from that everything was as expected and more. Cannot fault the accommodation as it is done to good standards.

About the location
CALLINGTON
Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles; Plymouth 14.6 miles.
Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
