    We have had a great week at St Ann's 21. The cottage was lovely and we had a great time exploring the local area. There was a lovely welcome pack from the owner on arrival. We only encountered two issues - one was parking on the site but there was nothing that the owner could have done about this however it may be worth it being noted in the listing. Also the listing photos show the outdoor pool and we were under the false impression that this was just outside the cottage. It isn't - it's ...

    We have had a great week at St Ann's 21. The cottage was lovely and we had a great time exploring the local area. There was a lovely welcome pack from the owner on arrival. We only encountered two issues - one was parking on the site but there was nothing that the owner could have done about this however it may be worth it being noted in the listing. Also the listing photos show the outdoor pool and we were under the false impression that this was just outside the cottage. It isn't - it's very small and a 5 minute walk through the site. There is also an indoor pool which isn't shown. It maybe would be better if the listing didn't show the outdoor pool as the first thing you see. However, all in all a great break and we would recommend the cottage to anyone.

The property

Located at Tamar Valley Resort in Callington, Cornwall, this villa-style accommodation offers bright and spacious rooms in a scenic haven.

A reverse level layout, there are two lovely bedrooms on the ground floor along with a family bathroom.

The open plan kitchen and living areas are upstairs, making the most of the elevated position and with large windows and a door opening onto the balcony, it is perfect for relaxing over a morning coffee.

Tamar Valley Resort offers a host of on-site facilities to keep everyone entertained.

Make a splash in the sunshine in the outdoor heated pool or choose the indoor heated pool for those cooler breaks.

A game of tennis is fabulous for working up an appetite and children will love the outdoor play area while you sit and relax.

There are communal grounds to wander through and a local pub just a mile away.

Within a short drive you can visit the National Trust property, Cotehele, a fabulous Tudor house and valley garden estate with views across the River Tamar.

Mystical Bodmin Moor is within easy reach with its rocky moorland and Dozmary Pool, the lake said to be the ancient home of the Lady of the Lake and a stop at Jamaica Inn for lunch and pirate tales is fascinating.

Also close by is Dartmoor National Park with its rolling landscape and hidden pub/restaurants.

A great choice for families whether you wish to relax on-site or wish to explore this wonderful area.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
