    “The accommodation was really good in terms of facilities and decor however the cleanliness let it down.”

    The floors and under the sofas and beds were really dirty! As was the sofa which I needed to clean before we could sit on it. A broom needs to be provided too. ...

    The floors and under the sofas and beds were really dirty! As was the sofa which I needed to clean before we could sit on it. A broom needs to be provided too. The outside areas were in really poor condition too. Other than this it was lovely and was just what we needed. Was in a good location to the facilities on site. Wifi would also be beneficial as the signal is not very good and looking for things to do in the area was quite difficult without the internet. We used the pool daily and had food and drinks at the pub. Sunday roast was good value.

The cottage

The Tamar Valley Resort offers accommodation in a scenic haven well known for its outstanding natural beauty just five miles outside Callington.

Arranged in small clusters along the valley stream, these typical lodge-style holiday homes are arranged over two floors.

With the living space upstairs, guests are able to step out on to a decked balcony and take in the rural outlook towards Dartmoor and across the Tamar Valley.

Valley Lodge 3 is a super detached lodge style holiday home located in a beautiful setting and is the perfect place for a get together with family and friends.

The open-plan living room is spacious and appealing.

If you opt to dine in the kitchen is well equipped or why not take the 15 minute stroll to the local pub/restaurant.

Three comfortable bedrooms - two doubles and one twin are expertly decorated with a contemporary twist.

The family bathroom and shower room are very modern, spotlessly clean and offer flexibility.

Kids will love the on-site facilities - there are communal grassed areas, a children's outdoor play area and of course the swimming pools!

There is also a bar/restaurant, shop and reception and during the school holidays there is a busy programme of entertainment including quiz nights and karaoke plus sporting activities including archery, rock climbing, canoeing and abseiling (subject to seasonal opening times).

Off-site this is a perfect situation to explore Devon and Cornwall within a short drive is Cotehele, a Tudor house and valley garden estate set above the River Tamar or a little further afield you can visit the glorious sandy beach at Whitsand Bay with dramatic scenery and sheer cliffs.

Equally accessible is the magical Dartmoor National Park with undulating moorlands and a myriad of historic sites and monuments - a rambler's dream.

A perfect holiday location for all the family to enjoy and Valley Lodge 3 has the benefit of being idyllically placed to sit and enjoy an evening tipple listening to the gentle sounds of the pretty stream trickling past.

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.

Please note: Leisure facilities for 2019 - Pool & Gym will close from 5pm on 24th December and re-open at 9am on 27th December. They will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Year's Day. Open from 9am to 8pm at all other times over the festive season. Reception & shop will be closed for the same periods.

The Bar & Restaurant will be open from 5pm to 11pm on Christmas Eve. It will be closed on Christmas Day. All other opening times around the Festive period have not yet been confirmed.

Opening times for the same period in 2020 and beyond have yet to be confirmed.

Note: Dogs are welcome, however breeds listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 are not permitted.
