  • "This is our 4th year of booking a holiday cottage/house through Cornish Holidays and have always been very satisfied with our accommodation and experience."

    However, there were a few issues with our holiday home (Tree Tops) in Camelford, which were addressed but non the less disappointing as follows; On arrival we could not find an information book for the household services and appliances, heating etc which meant we had to ring about bin collection, heated rails (which was not resolved) and accessing the WiFi. The TV then did not work as there was a problem with the aerial, which was eventually fixed by neighbours, apparently friends of the owner. There was a shared drive which also caused us some issues, including other people parking on the drive and blocking access to the residents in the properties behind, who promptly knocked on our door and asked us to move our car! The misunderstanding was realised and apology given but this is not the sort of experiences expected when on holiday. Towards the end of our holiday we noticed a "For Sale" board had been put up in front of the house which we didn`t appreciate. On a positive note, whilst the property was on a main road A39 (which wasn`t expected), it was close to a good Co op and petrol station. Whilst the main beaches and areas of interest were a drive away it was a good central location for travelling around this area of North Cornwall.

  • "No vacuum cleaner so couldn’t clean carpets in 2 weeks."

    No information in the property about utilities such as when to put the bins out. No underlay under any of the carpets so unpleasant to walk without shoes. Drawer front falling off in bunk room, finials missing off the bed in one of double rooms.

  • "The electric kept tripping out when you put the toaster on which then took the ..."

    The electric kept tripping out when you put the toaster on which then took the tv out, so had no tv for 3 nights, the freezer was fully iced up and I know that has been put on another review previously and nothing has been done, so was unable to use that, l also had to keep chasing Sykes myself to find out what was happening about everything and also the bed in the front bedroom was very uncomfortable the mattress needs replacing as you can feel all the springs and the bed frame isnt much better, the balconies could also do with a good sweep

  • "Very comfortable house."

    Plenty of space Well equipped kitchen..It would be helpful to have a book/folder of local info - such as day when bins need putting out and info re using TV and free-sat.. Hooks on back of bathroom and bedroom doors would be useful. The freezer was very iced up and needs de-icing soon!

  • "Overall the cottage was lovely, very clean and well positioned."

    there are just a couple of minor points - the cottage needs a tumble dryer as it was wet the week we went and we did a lot of walking and there was no where to dry clothes as the utlitity room felt damp, we ended up putting the heating on and hanging over radiators not ideal when there are 6 of you, it also needed more plates/bowls etc 6 of each is not enough. the wrought iron bed in one of the bedrooms is nearly falling apart too, hasn't been put together very well.

  • "The house is in a good location."

    The bedrooms were good sizes and the facilities good. Unfortunately we had to de frost the freezer upon arrival as the door wasn’t shutting and it had already begun to leak all over the kitchen floor - not a great start to the first hour of arriving. The microwave could also do with replacing as there is a missing/broken part inside which means the plate doesn’t turn well. The driveway also needs attention and on 3 occasions we scrapped the bottom of the car upon exiting. I have photos of the poor state of the driveway where there is damage if this is of any interest. The internal space was good. I had to ring Cornish Cottages whilst we were there to report 2 things - this was dealt with swiftly and I was impressed by the response.

  • "It was a lovely house,well presented."

    Only drawback was if you were sleeping at the front of the house the noise of the traffic passing through at night,but at the back could not hear a thing.There was no information as to when the dustmen would be coming or where the nearest doctors etc was.I informed you about this which you said will be dealt with.A very enjoyable holiday otherwise with so many places to visit close by.

Take a trip to Padstow with its colourful and bustling quayside, gift shops and art galleries and treat yourself to some of Rick Stein’s fish and chips.

For those who love the television series Doc Martin, make your way to Port Isaac and take a photo of yourself standing outside of the Doc's house and then relax over lunch as you gaze across the picturesque harbour.

Families, friends and couples will all adore this fabulous retreat where you can discover the rolling waves and the rolling countryside.

The old market town of Camelford is located close to Cornwall's north coast and is ideally situated for exploring the wild country of Bodmin Moor and the high cliffs, hidden coves, fishing villages and surfing beaches that populate this beautiful area. The southwest coastal path is a year round attraction and the surrounding villages and hamlets harbour a wealth of country inns and restaurants. The nearest beach to Camelford is Trebarwith Strand which offers both surf for the more adventurous and safe rock pools for the younger members! Truly wonderful and only around five miles away, it is perfect for a day by the sea and is also dog friendly. Nearby Wadebridge has a vibrant shopping centre and the Camel Trail, while Padstow, Rock, Polzeath, Port Isaac, where Doc Martin is filmed and Tintagel can all be reached in less than 30 minutes.
