Mainly the 2nd bedroom. Floor was dusty and sticky, but the bathrooms and the rest of the spaces were clean and tidy. This was the only negative we had. However we would come back.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback and comments following your stay at Amethyst. We are very pleased you liked the apartment and would return. With regards to the cleanliness we want to apologise if this has not been up to our usual standard and can assure you that we will address this with the housekeeper to make sure all guests find the property nice and sparkly going forward. • "Just back from another very enjoyable break in Amethyst."

Here are a few things we’d like to offer as constructive feedback: The sofas are looking a little tired and aren’t terribly comfortable as they have low backs so no support for necks. On the same topic the pillows are now rather lacking in firmness which affected the quality of sleep. It would be helpful to have a wider mix of soft and robust pillows to accommodate a variety of needs. There was a large full laundry bag left outside our front door for the entire stay? The freezer needs defrosting as the drawers are sticking. The latest arrangements that customers collect and drop off the keys at the CBH office is an inconvenience that didn’t used to be part of our stays at Amethyst. The key safe at Compass Point was much more preferable. Having stayed at Amethyst a number of times these things would not prevent us from returning again but they do somewhat take the edge off the five star, home from home experience we have had there on previous visits.

Thank you very much for your valued comments following your recent holiday at Amethyst, these are very much appreciated and we have passed them on to both the Housekeeper that looks after the property as well as it’s owner for their consideration and attention. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

It hardly got warm. Would be good to have a pair of tongs in the kitchen and more cleaning materials for the bathrooms. Also the knives need to be sharpened. The grill pan and oven shelves were a little grubby from previous occupants. We had to clean them before use. Would be good to have a battery in the clock in the living room. Thank you to Cameron from Carbis Bay holidays for delivering some Christmas tree lights on Christmas Eve that worked. Overall a lovely apartment.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that we were able to deliver you the Christmas lights to you as soon as they were reported to us. We are sorry to hear that you found a few items not up to standard. Very handy for the Carbis Bay railway station for the trip to St Ives. Not noisy though. The only problem we found was the Christmas tree in the wardrobe of the twin bedroom. There was no room for clothes with it in there. It was removed and put in the dining room so the wardrobe could be used. Very good property which is well presented.

Thank you for your constructive feedback, we will pass this across to the owner if there is anywhere else they can store the Christmas Tree while it isn't being used. We look forward to welcoming you back to the area soon. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

The weather was excellent and as this apartment is within easy reach of the beach, what more could you ask for. The apartment was very comfortable, clean and well maintained. Only minor negative point, as a party of 4 adults, we could of benefitted from having 2 sets of keys. However, this did not spoil what was a great holiday. Thank you Carbis Bay Holidays

  • "Overall we enjoyed our week in Carbis Bay."

The good points for us for the apartment were the comfy beds, the proximity to the beach, well equipped kitchen and the nice touches such as beach mats and body boards for use during our stay. The sea views are impressive and great that you get that in the front room and main bedroom as well. We were a bit unsure about booking this property because of the negative reviews mentioning the cleanliness. Unfortunately, the property wasn't clean enough for us either and definitely needs a more thorough clean going forward. The towels were stained, there were quite a few dusty areas and most of the kitchenware felt sticky so had to be washed before being able to use items. The main bathroom had an unpleasant smell. On the last day of the holiday, the apartment below experienced a leak coming from our apartment (Sykes called to let us know). We were told that an emergency plumber was on his way and would be there within an hour so we left the beach and we waited in for 5 hours for the emergency plumber to come but no word from anyone about what was happening. In the end we went out as a family in the evening after no communication from anyone and received a phone call while we were out from Carbis Bay Holidays to say the plumber was going to let himself in with a key in 10 minutes time. I know it couldn't be helped but I wasn't comfortable with this. We were told we couldn't use the main bathroom for the rest of our stay, we could only use the en suite which was inconvenient and ruined the last day of our holiday. As I say, there were some good points to Amethyst but we won't be staying here again in future.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave us your feedback as it is very important to us! We are happy to hear that you overall had an enjoyable time at Amethyst. We can assure you that all of the issues raised will be investigated to rectify them going forward and we send our apologies for any inconveniences which have been caused. • "Great location."

Great apartment. There was only two of us, might be a bit more cramped if four people were staying there, but we were there for two weeks. Good standard and upkeep, very happy to recommend to others. One small point is, there was a Christmas tree stored in one of the wardrobes taking up quite a bit of space. Surely better to be stored elsewhere considering how often it will be used throughout the year. We had a lovely time there and Alex at CBH provided great service when we pointed out a light not working, very efficient in replacing the very unusual bulb. 5 stars :-)

Dear Roy, Firstly, thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. Looks like you had a wonderful stay, and its lovely to here you received great service from Alex, this will be passed on to him. When issues are reported to us, we always endeavor to rectify them as soon as possible, it part of our high standard of service. • "We were quite disappointed on arrival, we have stayed in a similarly priced apartment previously and therefore expected a similar standard this time however the apartment felt quite grubby and a little tired."

The cleanliness levels need to be looked at - The dishwasher had been left full and the dishes were not clean, presumably because the filter was dirty? - Extractor fans in both bathrooms were thick with dust. - Mould within the grout in both bathrooms. - kitchen worktops had not been wiped down sufficiently and there were crumbs on our arrival. - bottom of the doorstops (particularly the one in the master bedroom) absolutely thick with dust. - dusty sock and hat underneath one of the children’s beds. - TV in the master bedroom stopped working midway through the week and we couldn’t get it to work again. Overall we were a little disappointed and although we would use Carbis Bay Holiday's again dues to previous stays being lovely we would not go back to amethyst.

Dear Helen, We would like to thank you for taking the opportunity to submit feedback. Firstly, we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused on your arrival; we will be sure to pass these to the housekeeper for that property. We are pleased to hear that you would visit us again and I once again would like to apologise for the experience you had. • "Overall it was a well located property, lovely sea views, good parking and nice modern decor."

However, considering the 8 hour window allowed for extra cleaning (which is inconvenient especially when we can't park at the property and aren't notified when if it is ready early), there was no evidence that anything other than a quick clean had taken place. Looking under the beds to check for belongings before we left, we found the floor to be thick with dust and a previous guest's sock. The en suite shower didn't drain well, and we discovered that was due to the trap being clogged with hair/slime which we cleaned out. The jacuzzi bath ejected a ring of hair from one of the jets when we first used it which was rather grim. The lamp in the living room did not work, and the towel rails did not work electrically and only worked when the central heating was on. It was disappointing because on a hot day we would have still liked to have dry towels! We concluded these had perhaps been switched off for some economy reason. When operating the central heating we noticed the Hive controller was flashing as low battery, and it ran out after a couple of days. We bought new batteries for it. The beds were rather uncomfortable! Very very hard pillows which were also lumpy like sleeping on a brick, the duvets were very thin and also lumpy. I was looking forward to using the binoculars which were advertised, but they didn't seem to be there. I assume for some covid reason, but wish I'd known. The bin arrangements were not clear, we had to work out where the bin store was. Glad there was recycling though, that's good. Arrangements for returning the key were vague - nothing on your correspondence about where to return the key, we assumed back in the key safe as collected - however a document in the apartment stated to ideally leave it 'outside the property' - no key safes evident anywhere. Overall these problems didn't impact on our enjoyment of our holiday, but we feel attention to detail is lacking, and these issues are small fixes. Inconsistency between your info and info at the property is also something which could be improved. We would definitely return to this property, the view is amazing and it's a nice complex. Could something be done about the check in time? For example a system where you can let us know when the apartment is ready, or an estimated time? Even if that was later in the day at least we would know. It's gruelling to be hanging around for hours when in fact we could have been unpacking earlier than 5pm. I would appreciate your feedback, Thanks Jackie Gotham

Dear Jacqueline, Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you feel the check in time is not ideal, this is constantly reviewed, but at the moment with the COVID_19 pandemic still very present we feel our housekeepers need the time to ensure the property is cleaned and sanitized thoroughly for the arriving guests and this allows us to carry out any maintenance we may need to do also. We will pass on your comments regarding the cleanliness to the housekeepers and our property team. In regard to the HIVE controller, we are sorry that it was low on battery, we can't always predict this will be the case during a stay for a guest; thank you for replacing the batteries. We will take a look at the description of the bin storage location and the return of keys instructions, and reword this to help other future guests. We sincerely hope that you enjoyed your stay in Cornwall and its lovely to hear that you would return. Kind Regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner
