  • "We forgot to write our impressions in the guests book and apologise for that."

We had a great 10 days in Brynmaur, a lovely little cottage, extremely well located, very comfortable and with a great view - having the morning coffee in bed looking at the sea: what a luxury. We are also grateful to the owners to have agreed to accept our 3 dogs - I vacuumed daily, so I hope we did not leave too many dogs' hair behind. We strongly recommend the quiches and bread (particularly the focaccia) of Yvette, just round the corner; the amazing restaurant 1st Fish Street (that has moved out of Fish Street), book at the bar so that you can chat with the chef; Porthminster with a great view on the haven. As for shopping...gosh! We gladly contributed to the economy of St Ives, Truro, Penzance... Finally, it was truly great and relaxing to be in a country where dogs are accepted everywhere. Living in Belgium, easily one of the least dog-friendly country in continental Europe, that was a welcomed change that we appreciate every time we cross the Channel. So thank you all, including the staff of Sykes Holiday Cottages, for a wondeful and relaxing 10 days - even the weather did its best. We do hope to come back soon.

  • "We stayed a Brynmaur over New Year."

The house its self is well located on a quiet road, but within easy walking distance of Carbis Bay beach and Porthminster beach, where our spaniel enjoyed his morning walk into St Ives. The owners have recently had a car port built, which is a really good addition. Plenty of space for our estate car. The gate at the back of the car port leads directly onto the terrace. The terrace has beautiful views across the bay. It is a lovely private patio and will be great for bbqs in the summer. The house when we arrived was spotless. The owners have decorated and furnished the house beautifully. The beds are very good quality (no lumpy mattresses!) and very comfy with crisp white bedding. Plenty of wardrobe space in the main bedroom, and a beautiful view across the bay. The second bedroom is either twins or king-size bed. The kitchen is well equipped, and has a full size fridge freezer. Plenty of crockery, cooking utensils etc. The dinning area is large, and very light and airy. The lounge has a the same lovely view over the bay, and it is really very easy just to sit and enjoy the view. The owners have thought of everything, and obviously put in a lot of time in effort to ensure their guests enjoy their stay. We very much enjoyed our New year's stay at Brynmaur and would definitely recommend.

  • "Brynmaur was a lovely holiday home well positioned for local amenities and Carbis bay beach and beautiful wildlife minutes away from property."

The sea views from back of the property was stunning and on clear days could see Godrevy lighthouse and cliffs behind in the distance. Brynmaur was a well equipped family friendly holiday home and owner had considered everything needed to make the stay comfortable and even left a pack of treats for our dog. Overall the property was clean however the only negative was the bathroom cupboard was a bit damp smelling and had small amount of black mould around the bath seal which we had to try and clean as was affecting an asthma sufferer in party. The bathroom extract wasn’t powerful enough to remove steam build up after a showers even with window open so most likely cause of damp from previous holiday makers. This was only a minor point and didn’t detract from the enjoyment of our stay. We would definitely recommend this holiday home to others and would stay in property again.

Thank you for taking your time to leave your feedback it’s much appreciated, we are pleased to hear you thought the property was well equipped and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you for raising these points we will be sure to take a further look into them. We hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. • "Such a bright and spacious property - perfect for a family."

Superb location - we only used the car to get to Godrevy once! Fabulous places to eat and enjoy the views in Carbis Bay and St. Ives. Beautiful beaches and so exciting for the children to see seals in the sea! Surf lesson at Godrevy and Mackerel fishing trip from St. Ives were fun. Porthmeor Beach Cafe - delicious food with a view! We will be back!

Weather hit and miss but still really enjoyed our stay. Lovely bungalow as stated on the website of Sykes. Carbis Bay beach is lovely and so is the restaurant down there. Land's End is an easy drive not far at all, so worth a visit. Cornish Arms Pub and Tesco 5 minutes walk, so really handy. Enjoyed our stay in Cornwall again. Thanks. x

  • "We loved this bungalow."

So bright and clean and a great location to explore this part of Cornwall. Godrevy and Gwithian area must see! Lots of seal spotting. Sennen Cove to Land's End walk was spectacular despite challenging weather, rewarded with great lunch at "The Old Success" Inn in Sennen. The Minnack Theatre accessed from the steps across the rocks took our breath away. Local walks into St. Ives and other direction to Porthkidney beach we also enjoyed. Hope to be back soon.

  • "Brynmaur is a delightful home-from-home in Carbis Bay."

Close to the footpath that leads to St Ives and within easy access to groceries and eateries, it still feels quiet and peaceful. We stayed over New Year's and the house was decorated with two Christmas trees and twinkling lights which made staying home a treat. The welcome package included several local goodies, including biscuits for our dog. The house was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, bright and cheerful. The views from the main bedroom and sitting room were wonderful. Even in bad weather we could watch the dolphins play from our warm, snug rooms. Highly recommended.

  • "We started our holiday reading this guest book, hoping that our time here would be just as wonderful as it had been for those who had stayed before us."

Well we were not disappointed! We have had the most amazing week and the bungalow is beautiful - very comfortable, very nicely decorated, spacious yet cosy and I have loved sitting in bed each morning enjoying the wonderful sea views and huge sky above. We really appreciated the little toiletries and biscuits etc left for us too which made us feel at home right away. The weather has been mixed but on the rainy days we went out in the car and on the sunny/dry days we spent as much time outside walking or on the beach as possible. We walked down to the beach to walk our dog each morning before 10am and had a coffee in the lovely little shop there. We've enjoyed the beautiful scenic coastal walk into St Ives. This is an absolutely stunning location and we've really loved our time staying here. I can't believe I found a bed that is comfier than my bed at home! We hope to come again and thank you for a wonderful week.

We all totally relaxed and enjoyed all the surrounding areas. A walk every morning before 9am to take advantage of Carbis Bay beach with our little dog, and the peace was wonderful. • "The only criticism I have is that the second bedroom does not have a wardrobe and not enough drawer space either and the information booklet needs to be revised about when to put the bin out we read that it would be collection day on Saturday and it was in fact Friday so we missed it."

Everything else was first class and we had a lovely stay

Dear Cheryl, thank you so much for taking the time to leave Feedback following your recent stay at Brynmaur and we are so pleased to hear you had a lovely stay. Thank you for your comments regarding the wardrobe and drawer space in the second bedroom, we have passed these on to the property owners for their attention. I have checked the bin collection details and I can confirm this is collected on a Saturday as stated in the property and not a Friday, the bins are emptied by a private waste disposal company and not the local council waste collection service which is on a Friday. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

Really airy, spacious room with comfy furniture and everything you could need. Beautiful views over the bay from the terrace and the main bedroom and easy walking distance to St Ives, Carbis Bay beach and Porthkidney (the latter of which is great for dogs all year round!). There's not a huge amount of amenities in the Carbis Bay area but everything you need is still within walking distance, such as Tesco and Costcutter. We also caught buses and trains to nearby areas as the public transport routes are good. We travelled by car to Porthcurno beach and the Minack Theatre which we highly recommend for the spectacular views. We loved our stay and would love to visit again. (Just a very minor point that when we arrived there were damp bath and hand towels in the washing machine that we needed to empty and air out to dry. I imagine this was the previous customer so have not marked now as it was a very minor inconvenience.)

Dear Shelley, thank you very much for taking the time to leave feedback and comments following you stay at Brynmaur. We are happy to hear that you had a fantastic stay and would like to return. We are sorry that you have found the towels in the washing machine and want to assure you that we have passed this on to the housekeeper to make sure this does not happen again. • "Had a fantastic time."

The cottage was extremely clean. Beautiful light and airy . The enclosed garden was a big bonus for our dog. Excellent location for surrounding villages and towns. The only negative would be the very steep walk back from the beach, which I guess goes with the territory. Please be aware of the restricted times you can take your dog on the beach, as this did take the shine off our holiday a little.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the property and location. The local council does restrict dogs on the beach at Carbis Bay from 15th May - 30th Sept between 10am-6pm, however there are many other beaches nearby without restrictions. • "Brynmaur is well positioned in the Carbis Bay area; walking distance to the beach and close to other necessary amenities such as a supermarket."

The bungalow is clean airy and spacious with everything you should need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and loved the view out to Godrevy Lighthouse from the lounge and outside seating area. Our dog enjoyed the secure garden and the welcome pack with the dog biscuits. The slight hiccup is that we found the parking quite restricted as the bungalow occupies a corner site, one small car is just manageable. Be aware you will need to vacate the premises by 09.00 promptly on your last day, quite a feat, most other holiday lets we have stayed in give you until 10.00 to do everything you need to do before finally leaving (sadly) and locking up .

Thank you very much for your valued feedback, we are so happy to hear that your dog enjoyed the garden and how clean and spacious the property was. In terms of the parking, the owners are currently speaking with contractors to build off road parking, until such time there is unrestricted on road parking along Tregos Road and Valley Road. We will continue to review the check in and check out times for all our properties at Carbis Bay Holidays but note that these are slightly different at present to allow our housekeepers time to undertake a more extensive clean in line with our covid procedures but hope that within time these will be brought as forward as possible, but in the meantime we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
