  • "Another stunning property, so comfortable and stunning views."

Everything you need to have a first class holiday. We did notice at the front door there is a big gap, you are losing a lot of heat, and a gale blows through.

Everything we needed here. Loved hearing the sea at night through the bedroom window, comfortable beds and quiet location. Perfect spot for the sea and station to St Ives. Great visits to a show at the Minack theatre, St Michaels Mount, Kynance Cove, lovely beaches. Great food in St.Ives at The Mermaid, Cellar Bistro and the Thai Restaurant. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • "Having stayed at various Compass point apartments over the years we prefer staying in the penthouse apartments for the views."

Laurellie certainly didn’t disappoint, the reclining armchairs in the conservatory were an added bonus ,so relaxing! Weather was mostly dry but very cold wind so didn’t get to sit outside and enjoy the table and chairs . The only downside were the beds. The mattress on the double bed needs replacing asap ,it’s so uncomfortable you could feel the buttons in your back. We didn’t have one good night’s sleep! Our teenage sons kept stubbing their toes on the single beds ,perhaps a divan base with storage may be a kinder/better option as the child mdf bed frames petrudes all around the mattress . For the inflated price we had to pay for this years stay (had to move our original date from October previous year) I would not book this apartment again. We always stay at Compass point at Easter so are very aware of the price charged! I also noticed that’s it noticeably cheaper to book this Laurellie for Easter next year than this year!!! This year £1182 next year £984.

Dear Mrs Homer, Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at 'Laurellie' and enjoyed relaxing in the conservatory, with the wonderful views. We are sorry you found the beds uncomfortable. The mattress in the main bedroom is a quality Hypnos mattress which was purchased because they are so highly rated. With regards to pricing, this varies due to demand and is consistent with our other properties. Kindest Regards The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

The only thing of a concern and at times annoying was a crying dog that was locked in a property during the day, we have a dog and would never leave it locked up all day. However we would stay in the same property again. Regards Gary & Julie McKean

Dear Gary and Julie, Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. We are so glad you enjoyed your sightseeing and walking. • "It is a beautiful well kept luxury apartment which I recommend highly."

However, there are two things by which it falls short as a luxury apartment: 1. The television is (a) not a smart television; in this day and age, one expects to have access to all catch-up television; (b) the picture quality reflects the age of the television. 2. The double bed in bedroom 1 is not kingsize, let alone super kingsize.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are happy you found the apartment beautiful, well kept and that you would recommend it highly. The owner is planning on replacing the TV for a new smart TV soon. Bedroom 1 has a double bed as stated on the website, however, the owner will explore alternatives. We did miss the the Scones Cream Tea we use to get as part of the welcome pack with Carbis Bay Holidays. But the Apartment was comfortable & had everything for a great holiday. Loved the Chairs in the Conservatory, sat there every morning watching the Sun Rise over the Sea. Great holiday destination & only a 5 minute walk to the Train Station. And £2 returned trip to St Ives. Perfect.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback, we are so pleased to hear you enjoyed it. Sitting in the conservatory and watching the sun rise sound so lovely! We are sorry to hear that the bins hadn’t been emptied fully, this has been picked up and fed back to the housekeeper to make sure it does not happen again. • "It’s a lovely apartment, with spectacular views across Carbis Bay."

Some of the fixtures and fittings feel a little tired, and the cleanlinesses was not to the highest standard (there were about 12 balloons left in the property from the previous guests which had not been removed, and there was an item of clothing left stuffed down the side of the sofa). We’ve stayed in several apartments in Compass Point, and I think the layout of some of the others is better (I banged my head twice on the sloping ceiling)

Dear Jane, thank you for your Feedback following your recent stay at Laurellie and good to hear you thought the apartment was lovely and that you appreciated the wonderful views from the property. Information provided, from access to the apartment through to eatery recommendations was excellent. And if you want to head away from the area then.. Perfect for a short walk into St Ives or short drives to other well known Cornish places, Hayle, Penzance etc When we stayed (November) we unfortunately had a few days bad weather, however, this didn’t spoil the holiday as the apartment is so comfortable, quiet and plenty of rooms to move around in to do different things…can’t wait to go back again. 10/10 from us.

The apartment was extremely well equipped and had everything required. The location is top notch as it is right next to the train station but you don’t hear the noise while inside the property. • "We have been to this property several times over the years but felt for the first time that some things were not quite as good as before."

There was no light in the oven, the fridge door tray was broken, the cutlery drawer had food bits in it, the carpets throughout had a few stains and the lounge furniture was looking grubby. In addition both sets of front door keys were difficult when turning the lock. Whilst we fully understand the reasons for the later arrival and earlier departure times, these did make life more difficult for us. None of these things detracted from our enjoyment of the holiday but if this property is to be advertised as ‘Luxury’ it should really match that description.

Dear Mrs Kirby, Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback for your recent stay at Laurellie. The points you have raised have been passed to our property team and the housekeeper for the property. The oven bulb has been replaced, the fridge door tray has also been replaced and the carpets have been professionally cleaned. Please do always feel free to give us a call in the office if anything is not to your expectations as we will always do our best to resolve issues as soon as we can. The housekeeper is going to pick up on the points you have brought to our attention during changeover this weekend and will be sharing the findings with owner. In regard to the arrival/departure times, we hope that soon, we can go back to the normal we used to know, and the additional cleaning we are undertaking due to Covid_19 will no longer be necessary but at the moment we are still very much trying to protect all parties involved, including our guests with the slightly later check in and earlier check out, again we hope to review this shortly. We sincerely hope that this reassures you that we have taken your feedback on board and hope to invite you back in the future. Kind Regards, Owner Relations, Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner

Having stayed at Compass Point with you previously - perfect for our first trip exploring the area around St. Ives), we already knew our way around - to the beach, on the train, and walking the coastal path, to St. Ives. Therefore, we settled into Laurellie within the first 24 hours. The apartment was all that we expected - very clean, comfortable, well equipped, with the bonus of the conservatory (where we spent many hours each day) and the terrace. This year we tried La Casita and The Badger Inn, both of which we really enjoyed, especially the Sunday carvery at The Badger, which offered such a wide choice, with a good vegetarian option for me. Of course, no visit would be complete without a trip (or two) to Becks. We can also recommend The Beach Restaurant, along the harbour front in St. Ives. " J. Blannin

  • ""Eating out in St Ives was excellent."

We fully recommend: Porthmeor Cafe - Good situation, excellent staff & fantastic food. The tapas were great, the monkfish in batter was the best fish in batter I've ever had. Porthminster Beach Cafe - Great for a full meal, more of a restaurant. Closest St Ives restaurant to Carbis Bay - also close to the station. Once again, great location, staff & food. Sea Food Cafe in Fore Street - No view, but good quality. In Penzance - Mackerel Sky Cafe is fantastic. I've only just realised that it's no 1 on trip advisor, we found it by chance as it's just round the corner from the Exchange Art Gallery - part of the 'Art Pass'. Exchange & Newlyn Art Gallery are dreadful; Leach Pottery is interesting; Barbara Hepworth museum OK, but Sculpture Garden great; Tate was closed when we were in town (imminent Royal visit); Penlee House Gallery & museum was the best of the lot & well worth a visit. Train - very useful & what can you say at just £1 to get into St Ives. Hourly schedule can be a bit of a pain. Walk to St Ives very enjoyable. Walk beyond St Ives really good. Coast walk the other way from Carbis Bay is great to start with, but loses interest as you approach Lelant. Zennor worth a visit. Cafe by car park very good. We really enjoyed our holiday -thanks. !"
