  • "Lovely apartment nice and bright , very comfortable bed ."

Instructions for tv use mentions sky tv although couldn’t find a sky receiver, not a problem for us as tv has freeview . Something that did cause a problem was the parking space, The space is an end space against a wall , 12 hours after booking I did raise my concern with Sykes who were offhand and advised that there wouldn’t be a problem . On arrival I couldn’t fit into the space , just something to consider if you have a large car maybe state dimensions. I tried parking in the cul de sac opposite but an angry resident objected so didn’t want to leave my car there . So parking was an ongoing problem for us during our stay , otherwise great and would book again if we had a smaller car .

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed the apartment. We are sorry to hear of the issues you experienced with the parking, we can also confirm the apartment no longer offers Sky TV we will be sure to revise the instructions thank you for bringing this to our attention. Despite the issues you encountered we hope you had a lovely holiday, and we hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Very clean and homely. Good information left in the apartment. Lovely welcome gifts. Appreciated the patio area. My only criticism is not much cupboard space for our groceries. • "We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Lighthouse View."

From the minute we stepped inside we felt at home and relaxed. The house is clean, fresh and well presented and the owners have thought of everything you could need to make your stay enjoyable- chairs for the beach, windbreak, all the kitchen items you need to cook if you wish and many more things. The position of the house is absolutely perfect for getting out and about and exploring Cornwall. The drive down the hill towards the house is stunning with the sea and light house view, and the beach is a 5 minute walk at Carbis Bay which is a stunning beach to spend some time- the hill back up is very steep so be prepared. The house is perfectly located for the train into St. Ives but it is nice to walk the coastal path into St. Ives and get the train back to enjoy the costal views. The outside area of the house is very nice to enjoy your meals/drinks and is a real sun trap until late into the evening- we had a gloriously sunny week so enjoyed our breakfast outside daily and some evening meals after a full day out. We enjoyed Lighthouse View so much we have booked for the same week next year while we were there. Roll on next year.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your excellent and comprehensive Feedback following your recent holiday at Lighthouse View. We are so pleased to hear you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back again next year. Best wishes, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "This is the second time at this property so we knew what to expect so we thought we would have an excellent stay."

Unfortunately the work on the building site opposite was much noisier than before with music being played and there were the constructors vehicles parked on the side road and close to the bend' This was totally unacceptable on Friday the 12th. as at 0530 we were woken by a tracked machine and a giant dumper truck coming past the bedroom window, when we complained to the workmen we were greeted with rude gestures and shrugged shoulders so we rang the Police to be told they don't deal with noise problems. we eventually reported it to the council emergency number and the vehicles left. This was our last day but I felt unfit to drive all the way home after being woken at such an early time. When we stayed at Riviera apartments before we were told there may be some noise from the building works and the price of the holiday was reduced, I strongly feel that should have happened on this occasion

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave Feedback following your recent holiday at Lighthouse View and we are extremely sorry to hear you were disturbed by building works to the rear of the Compass Point development. We have been monitoring these regularly and believe that the external construction is now complete and the work currently being undertaken is mainly happening inside the properties. For future reference, if you experience an issue while staying at one of our properties, please contact our local office in Carbis Bay on 01736 630015 (Option 2) for assistance. We had such an amazing time. The apartment was fabulous. Such a lovely place, we could just live there. Very clean and tidy, very nicely furnished. My little girl loved it. She loved how close to the beach we was and at night time she could use the binoculars to try and look out to sea. Also we all loved having breakfast in the morning outside. I loved having the doors open in the bedroom at night and waking up to the fresh air listening to the seagulls. All the facilities are great, we used the cooker, dishwasher and the washing machine. Just a great stay and have already said we are going to book for next year at the end of this month. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

View the sea from lounge and bedroom or the tenants private terrace. Just 10 mins walk down to the idyllic beach of Carbis Bay, allow yourself a few extra minutes to get back to the accommodation from the beach as the incline will slow you down but thoroughly worth the effort, we are in our late 60's and with a couple of stops managed the walk back perfectly well - just have to pace yourself. The owner has furnished the accommodation to a high standard making it a pleasure to stay inside even if the weather outside is not so inviting. I can thoroughly recommend this accommodation as an ideal place to explore Carbis Bay and it's surroundings.

  • "When we arrived on the Friday afternoon we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment."

We emailed you about our cleaning issues on the Saturday morning, later that morning we had a phone call from a Chester number apologising and informing us that the Housekeeper would be returning Saturday afternoon to address the issues. We also had an email from 'Property Management' at Carbis Bay, again apologising and stating that the Housekeeper would be with us that afternoon. Nobody came, so the three of us spent Saturday evening cleaning. Nobody contacted me from Carbis Bay Holidays for the remainder of our holiday. As the week progressed we noticed more and more things that led us to believe that the apartment had not been cleaned at all. We have been customers of Carbis Bay Holidays for nearly ten years and have always been impressed with the quality of the accommodation and the standard in which they are presented, so much so that we have never considered another letting agent when booking our Cornwall holiday. We are now not confident about booking for next year.

Dear Mike, Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback for your recent stay at Lighthouse View. We are really sorry to hear that you didn't have the experience we would hope for. Here at Carbis Bay Holidays we have a high standard of cleanliness and we hope we get the opportunity in the future to show this to you. The points you have raised have been passed to our property management team and the housekeeper, we will be looking into it accordingly. We sincerely hope to invite you back. • "Hi there We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Carbis Bay but unfortunately there were a few points with the property “Lighthouse View” that we were unsatisfied with and wanted to raise with you."

    1. On arrival we found the property was not fully cleaned. There were bits all over the stairs, sand between the cushions on the sofa and a big sticky footprint on the hallway floor. We have taken photos where possible but I had to Hoover the stairs and sofa on arrival. We hoovered all the bits up on arrival before we took photographic evidence. 2. The bedside cabinets in the main bedroom had not been emptied from the previous guests as we found birthday cards and a jewellery box present. 3. The maintenance at the property was disappointing, the shower was particularly off putting with black mould present and cracked tiles. The door bar between the lounge and hallway was cracked and damaged and the outside patio area was not maintained and was full of weeds. 4. There was a very unpleasant smell in the master bedroom, which did not disappear all week even after airing the room. We felt that the standard of the property did not meet the four star rating nor the standards shown in the pictures online advertising the property as maintenance was clearly needed, the property was also not cleaned to the standard we were expecting especially in the middle of the COVID pandemic and we were upset and disappointed on our arrival. We would appreciate if you could look into these concerns for us, we have used Carbis Holidays before and have always been happy with the stand provided but really felt that the property did not match the photos provided on your website when booked.

The apartment was very well equipped and spotlessly clean on arrival. There were extra touches that made it special - little library of books, few DVDs (not that we had time to watch anything as the weather was so good). Places to Recommend - the Porthminster Cafe in St Ives was fab for both food or going for a drink (we did both). The coastal walk between Carbis Bay and St Ives was lovely and not too difficult (we managed it with a pram, though there are a few steps in a couple of places which might make it difficult for the elderly). The train between Carbis Bay and St Ives was great too and very quick with nice views. Having Coffee/Lunch in the conservatory at the Carbis Bay hotel had a fab view over the bay and the food was good. We enjoyed going to Lizard Point, the most southerly point, rather than Lands End as less commercial." J. Sendall

  • ""We thought that overall Lighthouse View was excellent, everything was provided that we could possibly need."

The TV in the living room was excellent, the kitchen was fully equipped & the power shower in the bathroom was fabulous. Lighthouse View was light & spacious & had a relaxed feel about it. All the rooms were clean & fresh & looked like they had been newly decorated. We enjoyed the lovely views across the sea to the lighthouse from the living room & main bedroom. With regards to eating out we had excellent fish & chips to take away from the Porthminster Beach Cafe. In fact we thought that they were some of the best fish & chips that we have ever eaten (better than Rick Stein). We ate them on the tables provided on Porthminster beach, which was a fabulous location. We also had good food at the Badger pub, Lelant. The carvery was very good value & the crab salad was filled with loads of fresh crab & was excellent. Reen Manor riding stables at Perranporth did amazing beach rides, which I can thoroughly recommend & were well worth the £50 for two hours, so don't be put off by the price. Also we thought Perranporth beach was fabulous & can also recommend the pub the Watering Hole which was right on the beach. In fact we thought Perranporth was a really lovely seaside town & was one of our favourite places that we visited. We can also recommend the boat trip to see the seals from St Ives. The cost was £9 per person & lasted just over an hour. The seals were lovely, very friendly & kept swimming up to the boat, it was an amazing experience. We can also recommend the boat trip from Truro to Falmouth & back again. It was a pity we didn't have good weather the day we went, but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of the amazing views from the boat or the trip. The price was £12 per person return. Overall we had a lovely holiday, the weather was excellent, we thought that Cornwall was beautiful & every day there was a different surprise. The Cornish people were very friendly & helpful. We thought that Carbis Bay was a beautiful location & an ideal place to stay as it was a central location to get to most places in Cornwall." E & C Mole

The weather was largely kind to us unlike many other parts of the country. We really appreciated being in the quiet of Carbis bay with our own parking space and enjoyed many walks along the road into St Ives and return by train, avoiding the longer hills on the way back. We enjoyed the town, the biz, the views, the shops, galleries and restaurants. We enjoyed all the beach cafe / bars, the Beach and Ocean View Restaurants on Shore Road and particularly liked the Seafood Cafe on Fore Street. The location was ideal, Parking and driving has always been a problem in St.Ives, so Carbis Bay was more than ideal, with the 'one-stop' train journey into the town. The Carbis Bay Beach is beautiful, we used it several times, enjoying a late drink in the hotel on one occasion. The Tesco supermarket was handy, to stock up with basics, but we also ate out, and we visited 'Blas' in St Ives three times, the perfect antidote to chain burger eateries! Fish and Chips were also excellent at the Porthminster Cafe. We drove out to St Michaels Mount on the one rainy day during the holiday, Kynance Cove/The Lizard just a 40 minute drive away. Our son is keen on BMX biking, so we took him to Mount Hawke, whilst we had a coffee in St Agnes. We also visited the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and found some great art galleries in Penzance." K.
