  • "Pentreath was a lovely house in a great position."

It was spotlessly clean. The house was well equipped with everything you need. The only issue we had was that the downstairs radiators didnt come on the first evening. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Pentreath - simply walking to the beach with our dog, getting the late train back from St Ives, etc."

We had read the previous reviews and saw a couple about cleanliness and some of the furnishings. But for our stay anything that needed actioning had been done. The decor is lovely, the kitchen has everything you would need to cook a big meal, outside there's room and a house to rinse wetsuits. Would stay again.

Reported tuesday of stay but aparrantly because we didnt want to waste holiday time waiting in - we thought other things apart from toilet - (which we did ) - would be done on changeover - the owner cant be approached for good will gesture ! Poor customer service and disappointed with response we received by email.

  • "Have been using Sykes for a good couple of years now and have recommended them to many people."

Although the house was in a great location and was modern and well equipped, it seemed like it was a bit unloved the carpets had stains on and the bathroom cabinet and towel racks were rusted the toilet also smelt and was brown like it needed bleaching . The curtains in the front bedroom were hanging by threads to the rail so we left them shut rather than open and closing each day. The fridge wasn’t very good either and the food I bought with us for breakfast and lunches went in the bin by Tuesday along with the dogs food. The cleaning wasn’t great down stairs either the kitchen floor had crumbs on it and the floors looked like they needed mopping ( I would have done this myself but there was no mop ). The down stairs toilet hadn’t been flushed either. All in all very disappointing after the beautiful property we stayed in last year we thought it would be of the same standard. I would be reluctant to book this property again.

We spent Xmas here,it was nice that a few Xmas decorations were put up. The accommodation is well laid out, kitchen is very well equipped, however just a couple of things there was an iron but no ironing board, requested the ZIP bed but it was not done, and nothing to put hot plates/baking trays on when come out of the oven… however this did not ruin our holiday and would definitely recommend.

Dear Mrs Luton, Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. The items you have raised as missing we will ask the housekeeper to look into this on changeover and approach the owner to replace if necessary. • ""We had a fantastic holiday and although we have been to Cornwall many times, the little extras Carbis Bay Holidays provided, made it a bit more special!"

It was a very long journey and to be welcomed with a cream tea was a lovely surprise. The house was amazing and very clean, and everything you could possibly need was provided. Our favourite walk was to pick up fish and chips at St Ives harbour, then walk through the back streets until we came to the little church perched on top of The Island. It’s such a breathtaking place to sit and have a picnic, we really didn’t want to leave. We loved the little shops in the High Street especially the one that sells the most amazing curry sauces and pickles. The shopkeepers were extremely friendly and urged us to think about coming back for the New Year. (Something we hadn’t considered before). This is the first time in many years that everyone in the family wanted to stay longer. The house had a lovely feel to it and is very well placed near the train station and for walking to the shops. We really can’t wait to come back and would definitely recommend ‘Carbis Bay Holidays’ and ‘Pentreath’." N. Fettah

  • ""I think we were the first guests at Pentreath and I have to compliment both yourselves and the owners for making this a great base for our Easter holiday."

The cleaning was exceptional and the property beautifully prepared for our arrival, all the furnishing has been carefully thought out by the owner and provides a lovely holiday feel. We entertained our grandchildren for some of the time so the games and toys for indoor and outdoor use were appreciated. It was a pleasure to return to the property after long days out exploring the area. We would strongly recommend Paradise Park, managing to amuse the kids for over 5 hours, the beach is of course just a short walk away from Pentreath so that provided daily free entertainment. We had a takeaway from Becks, had a lovely brunch at Godrevy Cafe with a refreshing walk on the beach afterwards, what stunning views to Godrevy Lighthouse. Another trip to recommend was to the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, again this kept the kids amused for a long time - educational as well! All in all, it was great holiday and Pentreath suited us as an ideal base to look around the area, loved the rear garden, quite a sun trap great for a bbq." A. Straw
