  • "The property was a cosy home from home, just a few minutes from our daughter who lives locally."

It was clean and warm with lovely views over St Austell bay - when it wasn't raining! We were able to relax in the property and, all in all, it made a perfect holiday. We will certainly book it again. The only thing I would suggest is that the direction details to the property should explain that you need to drive right up the lane behind the other properties to find 'Sunswept'. A signpost for 'Sunswept' on the corner of the lane would help. It felt a bit like we were driving into someone else's property.

  • "My wife and I have just returned from an enjoyable break staying at the Sunswept cottage."

On arrival we were met by Sue, who gave us a key and some local advice. We appreciated having the Cornish cream tea experience waiting for us in the fridge. The dog was also thought off with plenty of treats available. The cottage was very comfortable and allowed us to relax when lazing in front of the TV watching there sky package. The power to the shower was good and we always had hot water. There is a nice dog walk almost on your door step which will give the dog plenty of exercise. There are supermarkets and takeaways less then 5 mins away by car. We visited 2 local beaches less then 15 mins away by car and again the dog had a very good time. So overall it was a very nice experience and we will look to visit again in the future.

  • "Property and accommodation was lovely as detailed in the listing."

Bed was very comfortable and the views were amazing. There was no where to walk the dogs after dark. Advertised as 2 parking spaces but wasn’t really enough for one. Wasn’t impressed at all with the attitude upon leaving as was knocking on the door at 10:04am to ask us when we were vacating the property. No mention of how was your stay and not even a goodbye or safe journey home. Be coming to Cornwall for many years left extremely disapointed and unsatisfied.

Hello Sharon, I am very sad and sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay in Sunswept, with regards to walking your dogs after dark and the lack of parking, in all the 13 years Sunswept has been going, you are the first person to have any issues with either of your complaints. With regards to your leaving on Saturday, I came to see you at 10:10 to say goodbye and to ask, as I always do, if you’d enjoyed your stay etc. When your husband opened the door it was obvious you were nowhere near ready to leave, I asked how much longer you needed and he said you wold need another half an hour, so I left you to it, the next time I looked out of the window you had left, so I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. Again, I am so sorry you left unsatisfied and disappointed, kind regards, Sue Property Owner

  • "Our stay at Sunswept was very nice."

Sue (our host) met us on arrival & was very welcoming. On entering sunswept the smell of cleanest was comforting & how nice the layout was. There were helpful hand written tv instructions, information to help us settle in, books, games & puzzles. The bedroom was very cozy with views of the sea & the bathroom was beautiful with white fluffy towels, hand soap & toilet roll provided. There was tea, coffee & biscuits, small jars of marmalade, milk in the fridge & afternoon tea consisting of scones, jam & clotted cream so no great rush to go to the shops when we arrived. We holidayed early November so weather was not great to sit out but there were a lovely decking area, sun loungers, patio table & chairs with stunning views which I imagine would be beautiful in summer to sit out, have evening meal & a glass of wine or two. Cornwall was beautiful with loads of places to visit & see. Overall fabulous, relaxing time & would definitely recommend Sunswept. Thank you Sue x

  • "Our only suggestion would be some form of preventative measure to stop dogs having access to upstairs."

We do not allow our dog upstairs in our home and prevent this with a stair gate. We totally agree that she should not be allowed in the bedroom in the cottage but it took a great deal of management to prevent it. Other than that, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend.

Hi Yvonne, thank you for your feedback, with regard to the problem of your dog going upstairs, because of the design or the stairs, a stair gate would not be practical, and I doubt it would pass health and safety, your husband told me your dog had a crate, so would that have prevented him going upstairs? or perhaps you could have put a chair in front of the stairs, if you had told us you had a problem with your dog going upstairs, I’m sure we could have come up with something to help you, but I’m pleased you enjoyed your stay, kind regards, Sue Property Owner

It is really comfortable and well equipped. The location is ideal - wonderful views out across St Austell Bay from it's elevated position, but with easy access to all the area has to offer. Unfortunately the weather meant we didn't get to enjoy the private garden area but in the summer it would be a great place to relax and take in the views. The off road dog walking just a few yards away is a real bonus. Sue and John are ideal hosts: really friendly and helpful and the little treats left for you - and your dog! - are a lovely surprise on arrival.

Like the sign in the living room says, it’s the little house with the BIG welcome. It is located just North West of St Austell and near all the sights we wanted to go see. It is also amazing to wake up with the sky lights and be able to see the sea from the bedroom. One side, your neighbours are some lovely horses (not owned by the owners of Sunswept) but this just added to the holiday being able to see them every day. The other neighbours on the other side are the owners, Sue and John. It was lovely to meet them and a lovely treat to have a cream tea ready in our fridge when we arrived. Also, nice to have a jar of doggie biscuits for your doggie pet, in the living room. They have literally thought of everything to make your time away perfect. Even though they are next door, they give you plenty of space and privacy. But they are always on hand if you need anything or any assistance. I would definitely recommend Sunswept to family and friends. We will also be back one day for another get away at this property. Thanks again Sue and John! Love from Chris, Vicky and Bucky!

As you drive up the path you see this beautiful cottage draped in sun ( if you are lucky with the weather as we where) The outside area is absolutely amazing! You can sunbathe on the raised decking with a beautiful sea view or sit at the table and have a lovely BBQ. Sue and John have even thought of the not so sunny days as there is a little green house with a table and chairs to relax in and read or have an evening drink. It has a grape vine and lovely lighting and views of the garden. The cottage is immaculate with everything you need and lots of little extras which is a nice touch. The towels and bedding are beautiful quality. The view from the velux windows in the bedroom is mesmerising especially when there is a full moon. The cottage is situated in a perfect spot to easily get to Charlestown, Mevagissey, Looe, Fowey and Padstow which are beautiful places to visit for little shops, harbours and lovely fresh fish dishes and drinks. We recommend a trip to Carlyon beach which has food outlets and a bar for a perfect day in the sun. Sue and John and their two little dogs are fab hosts who live next to the cottage, they are always friendly and greet you on arrival. This was our second holiday in “Sunswept “ and it will not be our last. Thanks Sue and John for everything from Liz and Phil ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • "Fabulous place!"

Spotless and comfortable. Sue was lovely and we really enjoyed the cream tea left in the fridge for us. Great views from the bedroom and garden. Only one thing would have made it better, Lack of available free plugs especially next to the bed for charging phones etc. Otherwise superb and would highly recommend.

Hi Cris, thank you for your feedback, there are two sockets behind the bed which are for bedside lamps, so unfortunately you wouldn’t be able to plug any other devices in there, so I’m sorry there’s nothing I can do to change that, but there are several other available sockets in the bedroom as well as downstairs, very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Sunswept, kind regards, Sue Property Owner

  • "First off the positives: the property was lovely, clean, well-equipped and in a great location only a short drive to local supermarkets and beaches while still being out of the way enough to enjoy the starry skies and fantastic views of the ocean from the bedroom and the private garden."

Sue was super friendly and was available for assistance if we needed it - we initially were a little apprehensive about being situated so close to someone's home, but we were left alone to enjoy our holiday in private which was really great. I didn't even bother locking my car at night it felt so quiet, secluded and safe! Our only feedback would be that it would be nice if a vacuum cleaner or a broom was provided - we absolute hate leaving a property dirty, but there just wasn't anything other than a dustpan and brush to clean up the sand/mud we'd left on the floor. I'm sure Sue doesn't mind cleaning up after us and the property was spotless when we arrived but it would be nice if we had had something to clean up after ourselves with. Furthermore, in the welcome notes it was requested to keep dogs from going upstairs and it would be amazing if there was a stairgate to make this request a little easier to enforce! Other than those few bits of feedback this is a property I'd highly recommend. Amazing views, modern but cosy, very well equipped and in a great location. Thanks for a lovely holiday!

Hi Sean, thank you for your feedback, we have now put a vacuum cleaner in Sunswept for guests use, with regard to stair gate, due to the design of the stairs, a gate would not be practical and I doubt it would pass health and safety, I am delighted you enjoyed your stay, kind regards, Sue Property Owner

  • "The property was spotlessly clean and sue the owner was very helpful."

The cream tea surprise in the fridge was a lovely touch. The furniture wasn't too uncomfortable however it was a little and could do with updating as could the mattress on the bed. If new sofas and mattress were introduced we would definitely book again.

Thank you for your feedback. The mattresses are less than 3 years old and have a mattress topper for extra comfort. The sofas are nearly new and we have not received any complaints about these before. I am sorry this was not to your liking. Kind regards Property Owner
