    “A brilliant location”

The house has a lovely feel and has been tastefully appointed. Lots of space and period features. The village is welcoming, pretty and has a nice shop, village shop, play area etc. The wooded walk to the beach at Mawgan Porth is around 45 minutes and is lovely. So many fabulous places to visit and walk. We loved our week and would come back ...

We loved our week and would come back. The only (small) criticism is that the owners seem to have ignored the many comments in the Guest Book asking for a hairdryer and to get the window latches/locks fixed. Both these things could be rectified easily but are irritating to a guest (especially one with teenagers who want to dry their hair!) For reference, the road outside is not busy and feels safe. Parking is easy. At 7-8am the noise of sporadic cars going past can be heard very clearly in the front bedrooms so I recommend you shut the windows. The loos are downstairs so this might not suit elderly family members.

The property

Dating back to the 1860's, this former Post Office and village store has been transformed into a wonderful cottage and now offers beautifully presented, characterful accommodation with exposed beamed ceilings and wooden latched doors.

This two-storey property now sleeps up to six guests in three double bedrooms and offers a high level of quality furnishings and comfortable, tasteful surroundings.

The sitting room is a great place to relax and guests can socialise around the dining table beside the warming wood-burning stove.

There is also a little snug for quiet moments or to settle with the Sunday papers.

The modern kitchen is well equipped with quality items for the most keenest cook!

The bathroom is on the ground floor with Japanese style bath and a double shower.

Outside is an attractive sunny courtyard garden with gas barbecue, fire pit and plenty of comfortable seating for those balmy summer evenings.

Nearby St Mawgan is home to the popular Falcon Inn with restaurant and beer garden.

There is also a village shop and tea-room.

There are three amazing beaches also within a short drive namely Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth and Bedruthan Steps.

About the location

ST MAWGAN

Newquay 6 miles ; Padstow 9 miles ; St Columb Major 3.5 miles

The picturesque little village of St Mawgan lies just north of Newquay, nestled in the Lanherne Valley. The village is home to a thirteenth century church, which is dedicated to St Maganus and St Nicholas. Notably in the graveyard, there is a rowing boat stern - a memorial to sailors who froze to death in local waters in 1846. The River Menalhyl runs through St Mawgan, and the village also has two welcoming inns as well as a friendly village stores with Post Office and tea rooms. The beach at Mawgan Porth is just two miles outside of St Mawgan, and there is also a beautiful Japanese garden just outside the village where you can buy indoor Bonsai trees, succulents, Buddha statues and wind chimes. With Newquay Cornwall airport based just outside St Mawgan, the village enjoys a most convenient location.
