The property

In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ¼ mile from the magical creeks of the Helford Passage is the pretty Cornish village of Manaccan.

Hallowarren Barn, a semi-detached cottage converted from an 18th cent.

threshing barn, is located ¾ mile from Manaccan in a magical setting 100 yards from the head of Gillan Creek.

With low lintels, knobbly walls and exposed beams and stonework this sweet little cottage has plenty of character.

The open-plan living area features a huge inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, perfect for cosying up on frosty winter nights and a piano for a good old sing-song.

A neat little oil-fired Rayburn warms the kitchen which has slate worktops and a big walk-in pantry for storing your Cornish goodies.

Upstairs up to three pretty bedrooms all with wooden floors; a king size double with en suite bathroom and a door to the garden, another double with a gorgeous garden view, and a twin.

The barn faces over its own extensive gardens and woodland, 15 acres in all.

A sparkling little stream runs through the grounds and kingcups, cherry blossom, magnolia and a host of other plants make this a very special place to relax.

There's plenty of car/boat parking space too.

A mile of creekside lane takes you to the beach at St Anthony-in-Meneage where you can swim in the river, or hire a boat - the perfect way to explore the surrounding creeks and tributaries.

The nearby town Helston with its family theme park and the seal sanctuary at Gweek are both great ways to spend a day.

About the location

Helston 10 miles ; Helford 1.5 miles ; Porthallow 3 miles

The village of Manaccan on the South Helford is small and friendly, with an excellent restaurant, friendly village inn and a beautiful 12th century church.

The South Helford is arguably one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of Cornwall.

With meandering country roads, picturesque creeks, tidal inlets and pretty waterside villages, the area can be summed up in three words: tranquil, charming and timeless.

The perfect spot for enjoying outdoor living, the South Helford’s sheltered coves were made for messing around on the water and strolling leisurely along the banks.

Leave your ‘phone behind and embrace the simple pleasures - while away time paddling in the shallows, explore hidden coves with a hire boat from St Anthony, and stroll through woodland to enjoy a picnic on the beach..
